Anybody remember the song Boogie Wonderland by Earth, Wind & Fire? It's been stuck in my head lately. Change one word and it becomes a title for a photo!
Bison Yard's primary industry job C87 shoves a few tank cars into the outside track at PVS Chemical, sporting a slug set as blue hour fades away.
Compared to CSX, NS only has a small fraction of customers in the Buffalo area. PVS is one of their most regular customers, seeing service up to three times a week on any of M/W/F. However, C87 is for the most part a daylight job, typically being able to be shot in daylight for the duration of their shift. The exception to this is or course the early winter time when daylight comes at a premium. With a public road right outside the plant, it's a very easy shot to obtain. Located near CP Draw on the Ebenezer Runner, there's usually plenty of traffic passing by on CSX adjacent to where they're working.
I've shot this place numerous times in daylight, so I made it a goal of mine to try for a night shot here while the shorter days permitted it. Often times you won't find these guys here later than 7:00 p.m., and that's on a day with delays out the wazoo. Most days they'll make it here before 5:00 though, which is why a night shot is a little less common here. With 5:00 p.m. being the eight hour mark for their shift, it's almost guaranteed if they're here around that time, they'll stick around to make sure they cross that threshold, which worked in my favor on this particular evening.
Day 167 - Let me get that for you!
That looks nasty... what have you done with that lens?

Man on a hike through a foggy and dark autumn forest. Abstract photograph edited with texture overlays
Just a quick return visit to one of my favourite trees on the walk around Alton Water. Wanted to make sure it had survived all the storms earlier this year so I can return in Winter for the 'real photograph' hopefully!
Morning is the best part of the day because it clears the darkness and marks the dawn of brightness.
This was taken in my garden at sunrise.

Some tourists are more interested in taking their selfie, than taking a photo of the bulb fields or the tulips below.
Just look at the woman dressed in blue (right in the middle ) standing on the platform of the mill at the Keukenhof, one of the largest and famous flower gardens in the world. In 1957, the Holland-America Line bought the mill and donated it to Keukenhof.
Located in Lisse, South Holland, The Netherlands.
Happy Fence Thursday too :-)

Liz and I went out chasing some autumn colour this morning; we found some, and a bit of mist as well.

Finally managed to get out to see this…
Anish Kapoor's 'C-Curve' has been installed on the South Downs, just outside Brighton. The installation is part of this year's Brighton Festival. Anish Kapoor is guest artistic director of Brighton Festival for 2009.
Set the alarm early to get out there for sunrise… Taken at 5.15am (ouch).
If you want to see some seriously creative interpretations of this sculpture, take a look at 'Rob Orchard and The Big Bamboolys light painting' and also 'The Big Bamboolys moonlight shot.'
