Lovebugs - why are those called lovebugs? probably because they are always hanging around in pairs :) but here is an interesting fact about lovebugs: adult males live for two to three days and females may live for a week or longer and mate with more than one male (Source: Wikipedia) .. also the females are significantly larger than the males, the larger one above is a female.
I thought that is interesting because if you think about it, neither of the above pictured ones will be living next week this time ..
That's how my friend, Sandy, described Gracie when I asked permission to post this picture for the Smile on Saturday group theme of "Emotions".
These four lovebugs are 7 weeks old. They are pedigreed boxers belonging to a good friend of mine. They are soon available ... if you're interested in a wonderful companion, send me a Flickrmail and I'll put you in touch with their owner.

Finally installed BD on my new PC and decided to play around with it for the first time in foreverrrrr. :3
1968 Vw Beetle, I've been wanting to photograph this for so long, after it being off the road for a month to have the brakes sorted out and after a good clean and a loaded roof rack it was ready for some Noctography treatment. I have never photographed a car with such a responsive colour. Some colours I really enjoy working with, and other not so much, this is a great colour and loved the light. After a couple of interruptions from people and cars it was quite a good shoot overall, not a complete feature shoot but I got a few angles seen as it was nice out.

Been driving by this car for a while, and thought it would make a good shot of the day. My first car ever was an original 1970 orange VW bug. It was an awful car, mainly because it wasn't in great shape, and the heat wasn't adequate for Canadian winter's, Had to wear a "doudoune", a huge down filled coat to stay warm. Nonetheless, it was a fun car.

Burrowing Owl ~ (Athene cunicularia)
I was sitting quite a ways back from the Burrowing Owl burrow with my 500mm watching one of the owls getting active looking for food and hoping to get a flight capture. All of a sudden the hungry owl flies right at me, and plops down about 10 feet from my position. I know the distance because it was near the fringe of my minimum focal distance as I had to step backwards. It caught the pair of Lovebugs and then looked right up at me as I took the picture. The moment caught us both by surprise!

Haha! First of all, this is not my car :P & secondly my buddy came up with this title. He adopted this rom the classic 1968 comedy movie - Herbie The Love Bug which is about a Volkswagen Beetle named Herbie with a mind of its own & helped a down-on-his-luck race car driver rise to fame by winning in the race track.
I took this shot outside a factory when i was so bored waiting for my melbourne mate discussing his business with the boss inside. Most probably this is the owner's car but for privacy, i better masked off his number plate & put my name there instead haha :P & also it seems to be winking at me too.. come baby come LMAO! Have a great start to the week everyone! :D

- Added 1 layer mask effect of 'saturation' (master) to decrease the overall saturation
- Applied dodging on the chrome parts of the car
- Stamp cloned away the owner's number on the plate & put in mine :P
- Blended 1 layer mask effect of 0 EV single tonemapped hdr shot to correct the movement of the branches
- Used 'unsharp mask' (as always) on the background layer

She once was overlooked and one dog amongst others in a breeding pack. Now she is my little love bug who follows me everywhere, and yes, even in the bathroom, and she is totally free to do so if she pleases :).
Benni is loving the company; 2 of our children have been visiting. Doug is very exciting and Kerri is doing a great job of giving her lots of attention even with Rena in the house. Kerri is a cat person, works in a cat clinic but loves all animals.
Doug is a dog person, has had a K-9 law enforcement dog in the past and is currently training another Malinois in search and rescue and Fentanyl finding. He gets a kick out of bouncing Benni, no prey drive or sniffing skills but a total lovebug.
