The lost towers of Worsbrough Common, Barnsley. Probably built by William Wentworth (2nd Earl of Strafford, 2nd Creation) in the mid-18th Century, these towers once dominated the Worsbrough skyline. Now sadly only a few remain.

At a time when cars were less popular and milk still arrived in bottles at your front door, the Brisbane CBD and main roads to outlying suburbs lay under a web of tram cables.

The network connected Chermside in the north to Moorooka in the south, and traveled west to Ashgrove and east to Camp Hill.

The first of Brisbane trams rolled along tracks from Logan Road at Woolloongabba to the southern end of the Victoria Bridge on June 21, 1897.

The Brisbane Tramways Company, which started the service, began with 20 trams and expanded to almost 200 more modern trams and trolley buses.

On September 28, 1962, a massive fire at the Paddington tram depot destroyed a fifth of the tram fleet. Layers of elevated wooden platforms soaked with grease and oil from years of tram work ignited, creating green flames visible from nearby suburbs. About 30 firefighters struggled to control the blaze and eventually the depot was destroyed.

The fire is believed to be deliberately lit but no one has ever been charged.

The last tram ran from Balmoral to Ascot on April 13, 1969. Initial moves to stop trams began years earlier under Lord Mayor Clem Jones, and was met with petitions, protests and outrage from Brisbane residents.

Trams are one of the things i enjoy to photograph but out of the 200 we struggle to find more of them. Around 40 where lost in the Paddington fire, 24 sit at the tramways museum, i know of a small handful on private properties. Its believed that when trams where decommissioned they where given out for playgrounds etc but the lead based paint put a stop to this and the trams where destroyed

Getting new appliances today and we found lost milk jug rings and other toys under each old one. If you're wondering, Ansel LOVES milk jug rings. I drink a lot of milk, so he usually has a fresh one to play with. And he'll bat them around until they go under one of the appliances - then they're lost. Until today.

And I just realized that the title would be a great name for a rock band. Think of the pictures!!!

And on a final note, this is my first picture with my new phone (Galaxy S21 5G). It's much better than my old one.

Burgos (Spain).

ENGLISH

The Burgos Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral de Burgos) is a Gothic-style cathedral in Burgos, Spain. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is famous for its vast size and unique architecture. Its construction began in 1221, following French Gothic parameters.

It had very important modifications in the 15th and 16th centuries (spires of the principal façade, Chapel of the Constable, cimborio of the transept: these elements of advanced Gothic give the cathedral its distinguished profile). The last works of importance (the sacristy or the Chapel of Saint Thecla) occurred during the 18th century, the century in which the Gothic statuary of the doors of the principal façade was also transformed.

At the beginning of the 20th century, some semidetached construction to the cathedral was eliminated, such as the Archepiscopal Palace and the upper floor of the cloister. The style of the cathedral is Gothic, although it has some Renaissance and Baroque works.

The cathedral was declared a "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO on October 31 of 1984. It is the only Spanish cathedral that has this distinction independiently, without being joined to the historic center of a city (as in Salamanca, Santiago de Compostela, Ávila, Córdoba, Toledo or Cuenca) or in union with others buildings, as in Seville.

CASTELLANO

Mixed emotions and confusion this morning, with two large dogs loose and seemingly alone in the Conservation Park. Couldn't see collars within their floofy coats. Really hope they were only temporarily separated from their (irresponsible) owner.
