Loop the shock cord over the hook. Leave it like this and it won't totally flop open while riding. Loop it again to secure it more
Knitted for Sam for his first Christmas. Of course, as is tradition with me, I didn't finish finish it until somewhat after Christmas. But I don't think Sam knows the difference. And he got to play with the doll part, sans tail, on actual Christmas.

The Chemical Looping Reactor in Morgantown, West Virginia. In CLC systems, oxygen is introduced to the system via oxidation-reduction cycling of an oxygen carrier. The oxygen carrier is usually a solid, metal-based compound. It may be in the form of a single metal oxide, such as an oxide of copper, nickel, or iron, or a metal oxide supported on a high-surface-area substrate (e.g., alumina or silica), which do not take part in the reactions. For a typical CLC process, combustion is split into separate reduction and oxidation reactions in multiple reactors. The metal oxide supplies oxygen for combustion and is reduced by the fuel in the fuel reactor, which is operated at elevated temperature. Chemical looping combustion (CLC) is considered a “transformational” technology with the potential to meet program cost and performance goals.

This is a photograph from the first loop of the town, after the start, in the 17th Longford Marathon, Half Marathon, Ultra, Relay and 5KM events which were held in Longford Town, Co. Longford, Ireland on Sunday 19th of August 2018 from 10:00 onwards. The event is tagged as 'the friendly marathon in the heart of Ireland' with Longford town full embracing the influx of runners from far and wide for marathon day. All races start and finish on Longford main street (close to the Longford Arms Hotel) and follow various routes west of Longford town itself. The marathon takes in three counties (Longford, Roscommon and Leitrim) and two provinces (Connaught and Leinster). The marathon and ultra marathon also cross the mighty River Shannon. The logistical management of the event is considerable and is undertaken with professional precision to accommodate the needs and demands of so many different races converging on the same area from different routes. The weather today was dull and overcast but very mild and humid which is not always best for distance running. However the course had plenty of water stops with ample provisions for everyone.
Our full set of photographs from the event today (mostly focusing on the marathon and half marathon) are available on Flickr at this set URL www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/albums/72157694556206940

The caterpillars are hatching and the next wave, the Looper Moths, begins. In a week or two they will number in the millions; this is year four of the outbreak and the hemlock trees are starting to suffer between their onslaught and the climate effects.
All that aside, when viewed from directly above, moths are very interesting creatures.
Taken after sunset on a cold January evening. The light in the upstairs window is a flashlight being waved at someone (who shall remain nameless) who was cheeky enough to climb up on the wall surrounding the lighthouse.
DOT Art presented, “LOOP” in collaboration with the Garment District Alliance within the pedestrian plaza on Broadway between 37th Street and 38th Street in Manhattan. The traveling exhibition was conceptualized by Jonathan Villeneuve, Olivier Girouard and Ottoblix in partnership with production companies, Ekumen and Quartier des Spectacles Partnership, Montreal, Canada. The set of six interactive structures, comprised of stainless steel, tempered glass and lighting elements, were inspired by the pump-powered vehicles from Bugs Bunny cartoons. Members of the public were invited to sit within the LOOP and activate a mechanism, causing flip-book style images inspired by fairy tales to be displayed on the interior of the structure. When visitors pushed and pulled the lever together, the mechanism activated, playing music, lighting up the machine and causing the reel of pictures to rotate, creating a sense of moving pictures and animation reminiscent of early movies.

The Tahachapi Loop
In the 1870's the Southern Pacific (Central Pacific) Railroad sought to link their rails in central California to those in Southern California. The path was blocked by the rugged Tehachapi Mountain range, which acts as an east-west barrier between Bakersfield and Los Angeles. Since construction directly south was impractical, the Southern Pacific Railroad decided to go southeast to Mojave, through the Tehachapi Pass. The summit at Tehachapi Pass was 4000'. Construction from Bakersfield to Caliente was somewhat routine, but from that point on the elevation going east rises quickly. From Caliente to the summit (now the City of Tehachapi) the rise is 2,735 feet. The maximum grade permitted was 2.2%. By routing the track alongside the slopes of the Tehachapi foothills, engineer William Hood could envision completing the task. However, just east of Keene, there was an apparently unsolvable problem. An increase in elevation of nearly 80 feet was required, unattainable using typical designs .
The problem was solved by constructing a unique loop. Going southeasterly from Keene, a train first passes through an entry tunnel. The track then does a complete counterclockwise loop, passing over the entry tunnel before continuing easterly. The loop is sized to have a length adequate to achieve the needed gain in elevation. The result is a loop 3,799' long, with a typical diameter of about 1210 feet. By continuing to gain elevation throughout the loop, engineer Hood was able to make up the needed elevation (about 77' rise in the loop). With modern freight trains, often more than a mile long, the locomotive passes over (or under, depending upon direction) the final cars of its own train!
