The annual Loop Run event was held Oct. 25 on the Sagamihara Family Housing Area installation as part of U.S. Army Garrison Japan Commander’s Cup. Camp Zama’s community members, Soldiers and pets dressed up in their costumes to raced around SFHA.
The last train seen at the Loop before heading back to Tehachapi, BNSF 5769 and BNSF 4980 (F/R) emerge out of Tunnel 9 with its freight of all baretables. The length of this train was rather long, as baretables were still seen below coming out of the tunnel while the power went over it. Although the freight had no significant weight to it, the time it took to reach the next set of signals (ca. 1.5 miles) still took around six minutes. Heading south to Mojave, the train will continue climbing the 2.29 % grade for about nine more miles until it reaches Tehachapi at around 3,984 feet, and then slowly descend a total of 1,221 feet once it arrives in Mojave.
Seeing this train would be my last, as nothing would show up for at least a couple hours afterward. Figuring that was strange, I would drive back to Tehachapi to see if I can locate some railfans hanging around the Depot and ask them what was going on. Fortunately, I would find out the reason very quickly.

For a number of years, some people have taken it upon themselves to decorate some of the trees along Loop 360, which runs to the west of Austin. The practice has taken off in the last few years to the point that, this year, it seems that all of the trees along some stretches of the road are decorated.
