Still Day 2 of my D810 test Drive.
Before we went to the MIccosukee festival we took a look see on Loop Road. I used the opportunity to try and test the dynamic range of the 810 by giving it high contrast scenes of light and shadow.
All shots are hand held. Some post with NX2. This was a real shadowy shot. Detail was kept well when I pulled this one out of the dark side.
The Wicks Looper is a small hand held device that allows you the create real-time noisy loops and sound effects.

You'll all have to forgive me while I do a swan dive into the world of Macro photography. I promise, once I stop being fascinated with how closely I can zoom in on a Froot Loop, I'll be back to our regularly scheduled program. In the meantime, these look more like donuts to me at this size. Did you ever realize how much sugar is on a Froot Loop? (it's not Fruit Loops, by the way, it's "Froot.")

Nice happy accident to find in the many shots I took over the time I spent in NC in the last couple weeks.
As our region was on the edge of winter weather system, we didn't want to be on the top of a mountain, and settled for this old route we've done many times over the years.
Along the trail to Ice Caves
Mountain Loop Highway is a scenic road between Granite Falls and Darrington in Washington State.
Camper vans and small RVs will like the roominess at this rural mountain campground. The camp loop is paved and there usually is piped water. The showers & flush toilets are a short hike, across the street. I was the only tent camper on this loop that night; Saturday Night in late September.

In the direction of the constellation Orion, approximately centered on the Great Orion Nebula M42 and M43, there drifts a giant cloud of interstellar gas and dust within the Milky Way galaxy. This cloud was formed when a density wave, related to the Galaxy's spiral structure, moved through the medium of the Galactic disk. It is about 1600 light years away and several hundred light years across.
This giant cloud, or complex of clouds, of interstellar matter and young stars contains, besides M42 and M43 and the nebulosity associated with them (NGC 1973-5-7), a number of famous objects: Barnard's Loop, the Horsehead Nebula region (also containing NGC 2024 = Orion B), and the reflection nebulae around M78.
