Up on Sand Flats east of Moab, we had just enough time after the drive to walk around the Slickrock Bike Trail's "Practice Loop".
Meant for beginning mountain bikers to get the feel of biking on slickrock, it was a fine reintroduction for us to get the feel of hiking on slickrock, too. And the scenery wasn't bad :^)

"During the 1980s, no fewer than five department stores closed their doors on State Street or went out of business entirely because of the disastrous mall concept, including Goldblatt’s (1981), the original Sears (1983), Montgomery Ward (1985), Wieboldt’s (1987), and Charles A. Stevens (1989)." -- www.chicagocarless.com/2006/08/28/a-greater-state-street/
Safely in the crossing loop at Oberried, leaning out of the train a wall of sound and light approaches through the cold dark night. A quick photograph and just in time, duck back as in a flurry of snow the train rushes by.

A few photos of Loop Rawlins Wild West from our shoot on Saturday night at the new studio. Loop has performed with Cirque Du Soleil and does High-End Events, Rodeos, TV Shows, fundraisers and charities all over the country. He is incredibly nice, and extremely easy to work with and I really enjoyed our time together.

Germany's "Olympia Looping" rechristened "Munchen Looping" (presumably for some pedantic post London2012 trademark reasons) at London's Winter Wonderland this year.
It was nice. Very impressive that they get this thing on a few (ok quite a few) trucks and drive it around the place.

And what do we have here? Well, this is Chicago, of course. In the foreground is a hideous car-park. It is possibly the ugliest structure in the Loop. Behind it stands the magnificent Auditorium Theater, where I spend a great deal of time. The modern building in the far back is The Wabash Building of Roosevelt University, which also runs the Auditorium Theater.
It's all breathtaking in real life; I've made it look foreboding here.
On the right you see some of the back of the Congress Hotel, which is another gem. One the first photos I ever put on Flickr was of the Congress Hotel, so I guess you could say I made them famous. You'd be wrong, but you could say it.
Weirdly, that photo has almost six thousand views and only one "fave." flic.kr/p/acEZYh . That's what you would refer to as, "a bad ratio."
