joy of love day 02: how they look
this is my daughter madison...the middle child of our 3 children. since the day she was born, she's always been looking up. she's an eternal optimist...just like her mom. <3
Reeds by Utah Lake that have not yet realized its spring. Can't blame them when the weather can't decide what season it is either!
The underside of the Citigroup Center, or whatever it's called now. A skyscraper on stilts. Evan wanted to see it after hearing the amazing, super good episode of the 99% Invisible podcast about the building and the discovery of its crisis.
I don't know why this is a thing for me, but ever since I've moved here, I've found the immensity of our buildings inexplicably and profoundly therapeutic. I love this big thing sitting over my head. I love that I'm small, and I can trust it. They're just buildings, but I sort of feel like they are our defenders.
So I was kind of having a day, and I stared up for a while.
Central Birkenhead and on a run down building - has been painted over and some none too subtle repair/strengthening work
The day after the Mount Kenya trip, I changed hotels to the Radisson Blu on Elgon Road in Nairobi where the safari I would be going on was to leave two days later.
So for that time period, I pretty much stayed within the hotel. I didn't see anything I could do, or wanted to, in the surrounding section of the Upper Hill neighborhood, and the security around the hotel was tighter than it had been in Gigiri, pretty much sending the message that you ought not to leave without a good reason.
Also, it was pretty blah outside weatherwise.
So when I took pictures, I looked for things in and around the hotel. It had a nice atrium, and I find that often-mocked feature of hotels and other commercial architecture to make a nice photograph.

normster: @reganref ha! I just looked up and then snapped it. I leave grid lines on so it's easier to get things straight and then i sorta see in a square when i'm shooting so i know how far/close to be. I hate having to crop out stuff. Many thanks for such a good compliment!
