Looking up into the sky, head bent all the way back, capturing a glimpse of the tiny spider that occupies space at the top of our pool screen enclosure. They do no harm but keep the bugs out because even with a screen, those pesky little, no see ums still get in and need to be eradicated!
I forbid anyone to take them down!
Konditorei is the German word for a pâtisserie or confectionery shop. A Konditorei typically offers a wide variety of pastries and typically also serves as a café. In Austria it is a very popular custom to go to a Konditorei to have a cake and some coffee or hot chocolate mid-afternoon.
My last photos from the World War II Temporary Buildings at the Fort Leonard Wood Museum.
The chapel is not in its original location, but was moved here to protect it from demolition and add it to the historic district. These light fixtures are recreations of the original ones from the WWII era.
We worked on the preservation plan for these buildings a few years back and they're looking great! If you're traveling along I-44, I suggest taking a pit stop and see these remarkable leftovers.
The other day when it snowed I followed my youngest daughter underneath the giant evergreen tree next to my house- We had fun exploring the snow, and picking up the branches. I noticed that she was looking up at the giant tree in wonder. I sat right at her view and pointed the camera up and snapped. Phoenix quicly went on her way.
Today when I when I mosied on over to Shutter Sisters I loved Xanthe's blog about seeing the world through a child's eyes. They see the world so purely, with such wonder, such amazement. I try hard to take notice of these most precious moments.
Feeling down today, Phoenix is super super sick with a double ear infection. She is one sad, grumpy cookie. I'm feeling like I'm gonna lose it a bit, I've watched probably 20 episodes already of yo gabba gabba. There should be a sick kid hotline for mommies to cry it out.
I'm hoping everyone has a nice weekend, have fun for me! We've had to cancel all our plans due to the sickies.

This is one of Vollis Simpson's Whirligigs. It is located in the park at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh.
"Simpson’s fame came near the end of his life. He was born in 1919 to a farming family with 12 children. As a boy, he helped his father supplement the family income by moving houses. After retiring at 65, he started tinkering around with his collection of odd parts. Using some of the same rigs he’d developed for moving houses, Simpson began constructing enormous windmills in his yard. The Whirligigs incorporate highway and road signs, HVAC fans, bicycles, ceiling fans, mirrors, stovepipes, I-beams, pipe, textile mill rollers, ball bearings, aluminum sheeting, various woods, steel rods, rings, pans, milkshake mixers and many more such materials form the support and moving parts.
In 2010, a plan was announced to create the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park in Historic Downtown Wilson, NC. Simpson died in 2013 at 94, but not before seeing the first of his creations installed in the park that bears his name."
Vollis is considered an outside artist. Another one of his whirligigs is located in Baltimore, MD at the American Visionary Museum. He brought a lot of tourists to his farm. I wish I had made the time to visit while he was still alive.
It was windy, so I had to lean against the pole. The sky kept changing. I took out some spots in the blue paint and added a border with ON1 Effects.
