Another one to add to the collection. This small hoverfly had a distinctive tube shaped body and evenly spaced yellow and black stripes.

Always going around in gangs, I was lucky enough to catch this little chap as he watched his mates feeding on the peanunts. Seeing these perky little birds always brightens my day.

The bridge connecting the Queen Mary to Long Beach. This was taken on New Year's Eve.

CN 8836 & CN 2319 were heading east light on the Montreal Sub, running long hood forward.

Diptera, Dolichopodidae, Sciapus sp. (I am not sure in the ID). And the title is deceptive, as this specimen is a female. Shot it in the same place as the big-headed fly in my previous post.

Taken with the Canon MP-E65/2.8 macro lens @ 3:1 magnification, lit with diffused Minolta twin flash. Slightly cropped.

This is an image of the long striped scarf that I made for my friend Martin for Christmas from the softest hand carded merino and silk.

Eric from Couchsurfing invited me to come over to Long Island. He lives in a small but cosy apartment on the campus of Brookville, where he works as organiser of activities for students. He let me sleep on his couch and we had dinner together in a nearby town. I walked around on the campus while Eric was warking. He gave me his bike, so I could cycle over the island to see the surroundings. Most of the land is occupied with huge villas and luxury houses. Along the coast there are beautiful wetlands and little beach resorts.

A bit of a mess but they're cute so nevermind, I finally managed to get one with the whole tail in the frame. By the way the title of the chaffinch picture came from the TV show The Mighty Boosh, the legendary episode with the never-before-attempted Four Way Crimp...........Alan-Arachnid, the Spider Provider ! Here is the aforementioned Four Way Crimp............
