Notice the matching cupola. Famous for surviving a tornado in the 80s with a cabin full of boy scouts. Area around the cabin was pretty much obliterated.
31 x 10inch blocks made during round 1 with the other 23 blocks made over the weekend so I could piece the quilt top.

Most of the fabrics I used in the other 23 blocks came from the offcuts everyone sent back with my blocks so I used nearly all of that fabric which was nice.
Over 17.5"! I hope this is ok. It never looked quite right to me for some reason. I used half of Erin's scraps and half of my scraps. I trimmed it too large for fear of trimming it too small LOL :-)
Apparently I like polka dots. Also, that dark strip in the upper-right-hand corner isn't solid. It's a dark tone-on-tone navy floral.
Finally, I couldn't leave out the adorable Sherbet Pips pups. I think it will remind us of this "season" of quilting which is hopefully ok.
Read your daily newspaper tomorrow folks as the 9th body has been discovered slashed and mauled beyond recognition in an old cabin deep in the woods of a NY state park. As it was authorities say the killing was fairly recent and this poor fellow was hit with a blunt instrument on his head then dragged back to this cabin and then killed. Reports indicate the victim did make at least one attempt at escape hitting his attacker in the face with a large rock but the murderer was much larger and stronger than he.
Numerous stray dogs were found as well feeding on the victim`s body and had to be put down on the spot.
An APB has been issued for the area and residents are advised to stay inside and lock their doors opening them only for the police and loved ones.

I finally decided to cut into my flea market fancy! I wanted to highlight the bright colors and prints by making simple log cabin blocks using coordinating colors. These are just a few of the first batch of blocks I whipped up!
A growing boy deserves a growing blanket!
Added a few rounds to this Log Cabin blanket with a skein of Kauni Rainbow EQ. Also added a firm edge with slip-stitch crochet.
built ca. 1840, cabin housed siblings shown (my great-grandfather Edward L. Byrne, Margaret Byrne Thrall, and John Byrne II) until ca. 1860.
This lot is being cleared for development. The once hidden little cabin is now exposed and severely damaged. It will be gone by tomorrow.

Shot from the tiny window of an old miner's cabin. The cabin itself was probably ten feet long and wide and 5 feet tall.
