N6653K, a de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver Mk. 1, heading south on taxiway "Bravo" to runway 33 at Toronto Buttonville Municipal Airport in Markham, Ontario.

Kenneth Gorelick (aka Kenny G) was flying solo aboard his classy classic. That day, the renowned saxophonist flew to Fort Wayne, Indiana; Kirksville, Missouri; and Kansas City, Missouri. In the process, he added approximately 8 hours and 50 minutes to his logbook. This beautiful Beaver arrived home at Camarillo, California two days after departing Toronto.

Serial number 565 was delivered from the plant in Downsview, Ontario to the United States Army as 53-2782 on November 3, 1953.

This airplane's understated registration doesn't distract one's eye from its elegant paint scheme.

On Final approach to runway 26 at RAF Brize Norton. "Bob" now lives at RAF Cosford at the RAF Museum.

Just checked my logbook and this was 19 Jun 09 and taken from XR807, another C1K

I thought this would have no MOT and be on SORN but happily I was incorrect! This one is taxed until the 1st of June 2023 and MOTed until the 11th of March 2023, and currently sits at around 92,535 miles, it covers very little mileage nowadays. Last logbook change was on the 5th of June 2017.

Tucked away was this Ford Scorpio Estate, with much detrition on that rear plate! Currently on SORN and without MOT since the 21st of June 2017, although it did really well on all its MOTs, failing only once in 2007 and it has had zero advisories ever recorded! Take a look for yourself: www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

So really I don't see much reason to why it was taken off the road, it only did 1,000 miles per year anyway. Currently sits at around 130,851 miles and the last logbook change was on the 30th of August 2012.

(...) " PM in logbook 05.2014

Occupation of Batuu

I built this once for a @darktimesgroup Target, and I finally finished It and tooked good Photos of It. I also Displayed this at the @brickingbavaria 22.

Hope u like It

Here is the Story

Loading File...

\:Batuu:/Outer Rim\:\Logbook Entry/:/ CT 7458\:Nickname:"Impact"\

We landed on Batuu and immediately set out to track down the Mandalorian. The planet was a wild and untamed place, with rugged terrain but many settlements all around the planet. But we were determined to catch him. The Sun was setting over Batuu and It was such an atmospheric place. This mission was a different one, first I thought It couldn't be dangerous. But It is not less dangerous then as on corrusant. We had recieved Informations that the Mandalorian we had been pursuing Is fled to Batuu and was hiding In one of the remote settlements on the planet.

We made our way to the settlement, where we were met with hostility from the local inhabitants. They were suspicious of outsiders and unwilling to help us in our search. But we were persistent, and eventually we were able to gain their trust.

We heard that the Mandalorian had been seen in the vicinity, and we set out to track him down. It was a difficult and dangerous mission, but we were determined to succeed.

We searched the rugged terrain, using every skill and piece of equipment at our disposal. And finally, we caught sight of him. He was holed up on a old Landing Platform. He was surrounded by a group of others, and It looked like he was making a Deal or something with one of the others.

We knew that this would be a difficult fight, but we were prepared for it. We launched our attack, and the battle was fierce and intense. But in the end, we were able to overpower the Mandalorian and his followers, and we brought him back to Coruscant to face justice.

The mission on Batuu had been a success, but it had come at a great cost. Many of my comrades had fallen in the pursuit of the Mandalorian and it was a reminder of the danger and sacrifice that came with being a part of the Empire. But I knew that we had done our duty, and that was what mattered most.

A lot of idiots in the world seem to think it's OK to carve their name into the sandstone walls that surround this rock art site.

Previously seen on Flickr by Jude C, this very nice looking Renault 5. It has been fitted with different wheels which I like but has sadly lost its roof bars! Currently taxed until the 1st of May 2023 and MOT'ed until the 18th of November 2022. It currently sits at around 102,984 miles and the last logbook change was on the 24th of April 2022, so it would seem it has left life in London.

I hope NASA are OK with their image from 1967 superimposed on my observation from planet Earth almost 54 years later.

This feature is not easily visible for earthbound observers at the best of times. Even then, only the eastern edges of this impact basin can be seen when there is a favourable libration. Most of it is consigned to the far side, out of sight for those who reside on our blue world.

My observation is a six pane mosaic of the lunar western limb captured on 27th February 2021 between 01:45 UT & 01:59 UT.

Lat 51.542 N Long 3.593 W

Skywatcher 254mm Newtonian, Tal 2x Barlow,

ZWO ASI 385MC.

4000 frames captured on each pane using Firecapture.

Approx. 1400 to 1600 frames processed with Registax 6 on each pane.

Final image stitched with Microsoft ICE. Slight adjustment to levels, collage & annotations added using G.I.M.P.

Best viewed using the expansion arrows.

Some of the features are identified on another posting found in my album, Astronomical Observations Logbook.

The inside front cover of my youngest daughter’s letterboxing logbook,

showing stamped versions of her “Mr. Butt” and “Acorn Cap” rubber stamps,

the head of my oldest’s “MUDDUCK” stamp*, a date stamp, and a stamp of my initials.

* If you take the letters from letters from my last name, and my wife’s maiden name you could get either “MadDog” or “MudDuck”. I think either would be really fine new last name!

Interesting one here, a MK2 Escort van. currently taxed until the 1st of August 2022 but without MOT since the 2nd of October 2018 although it no longer needs one as it is classed as a historic vehicle. Last recorded mileage was on the 3rd of October 2017 at 64,474 miles although it will have increased since then. Last logbook change was on the 30th of July 2019.

New York towards the Hudson River seen from the Empire State

Vista de New York para o lado Oeste, donde está Nova Jersey depois do Rio Hudson

Vista oeste de New York desde el Empire State Building, con fotos de Nueva Jersey despues del Rio Hudson

Manhattan Ethymology

The name Manhattan derives from the word Manna-hata, as written in the 1609 logbook of Robert Juet, an officer on Henry Hudson's yacht Halve Maen (Half Moon). A 1610 map depicts the name Manahata twice, on both the west and east sides of the Mauritius River (later named the Hudson River). The word "Manhattan" has been translated as "island of many hills" from the Lenape language.

Yesterday, I had my very first wreck dive. It was the wreck of the Salem Express, which sank in 1991 off the coast of Safaga. It was a strange and solemn feeling, knowing the history of the Salem Express, which is considered an official grave site. You can read about the story online, for example on Google.

With that background and awareness in mind, we descended. There were two dives, and the sight of this massive ship was overwhelming — I couldn’t capture in photos what emotions and feelings arose during those two dives. I will make a short video about these two dives, both of which were deep dives recorded at 26 meters in my logbook.

Out of respect for those who still rest within the wreck, I only explored the Salem Express from the outside and did not enter the interior of the ship.

I am blitzing my essay tonight, as well as my visual logbook.

I have so much catching up to do with messages and shoot plans, it's crazy!

I'm going to Holland in a month, very excited <3

A very nice looking Vauxhall Nova, without faded red paint and unmodified, perfect! Taxed until the 1st of April 2023 and MOT'ed until the 23rd of June 2022. Currently sits at 66,234 miles but MOT is due in 4 days so it will change. Last logbook change was on the 15th of June 2016.

Watching the city scenery to find the best angle to shot in this outstanding city of Xi'an…

Very original and used Volkswagen Caddy that has recently turned up at this location. Was up for sale in this photo, no price stated but labelled as one owner! Its tax expired today and the logbook was also updated today (19/6/22) so I would assume it has sold, hopefully to a good home! The past owner surely got good use out of it! MOT'ed until the 10th of September 2022 and currently sits at around 127,302 miles, also credit to the previous owner for getting it through MOTs, just take a look for yourself! Some very bad fails on there: www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

A postcard from the good old days of Atlanta.

From the logbook and information notebook at Atlanta Ranger Station. Boise National Forest, Idaho.

The legendary full-rigger Lancing, photographed in early 1908 during its only visit to her home port Oslo. My colorization of Anders B. Wilse´s photo in the Maritime Museum of Norway archive (Digital Museum). The 409 ft (124.7 m . l.o.a.) ship was the largest Norwegian sailing ship and one of the fastest in the world. Lancing was built in 1865 as a barque-rigged mail/passenger steamer for the French Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. She was the last and by far the most successful of the many conversions from steam to sail.

Here is an excerpt from Alfred Basil Lubbock´s 1927 book "Last of the Windjammers":

"her sailing records under Captains S. B. Johnson, N. B. Melsom and P. T. Pedersen were nothing short of amazing. The most astonishing entry recorded in her logbook was an average of 18 knots for 72 running hours, whilst on a passage from New York to Melbourne. This is scarcely believable and has never been approached by any other ship. Another wonderful bit of sailing in her logbooks was 76 miles in 4 hours. She was at her best, of course, in stro long-as long and straight as a barracouta, the Australians called her-that once she had got up speed she carried her way in the most astonishing manner."

Skipshistorie.net has this summary of Lancing:

"1865 Built as 3-masted barque/SS PÉREIRE by Robert Napier & Sons, Govan East, Glasgow, Scotland for Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (Emile & Isaac Péreire), Le Havre, France. Launched 04/11. Used as mail/passenger ship, first around the Mediterranean Sea, then transatlantic to USA and later to Central America and the Caribbean. 350 passengers in 3 classes.

Outfitted with a 2 cylinder medium pressure steam engine on 1.250 SHP and a propeller made of iron.

Tonnage: 3.150 grt, 1.755 nrt. Dimensions: L: 345’0"-B: 43’5"-D: 29’0".

1873 The steam engine converted to a compound expansion engine by extending the engine with a low-pressure cylinder. Fitted with one extra funnel.

1881 Caught fire in the harbour of La Goulette, Tunisia. Sunk by a torpedo to extinguish the fire. Raised and repaired.

1887 Stranded off St. Nazaire, France and sustained heavy hull damages. Sold to A. E. Kinnear & Co., London, England who salvaged the ship.

1888 Re-built as a four-masted fullrigged ship by Blyth Dry Dock Co., Blyth, England for A. E. Kinnear & Co., London. Renamed LANCING. Remeasured: 2.678 grt, 2.600 nrt.

L: 356'0"–B: 43'8"–D: 27'3".

1889 Sailed 24/02 from Plymouth, England with 18.000 casks of cement and arrived 21/06 at Melbourne, VIC, Australia.

1890 Sailed from New York, NY, USA to Melbourne. Averaged 18 knots for 72 hours.

Lagonda is a British luxury car brand established in 1906, which has been owned by Aston Martin since 1947. The trade-name has not had a continuous commercial existence, being dormant several times, most recently from 1995 to 2008, 2010 to 2013, and 2016 onward.

The Lagonda company was founded in 1906 in the UK in Staines, Middlesex, by American-born Wilbur Gunn (1859–1920),[2] a former opera singer.[3] He became a British national in 1891 and worked as a speedboat and motorcycle engineer in Staines. He named the company after the Shawnee settlement of Lagonda in modern-day Springfield, Ohio, the town of his birth.[4][5] This is a glacially eroded limestone gorge of much beauty. Historically, the area played a major role in the Treaty of Easton and the aligning of the Shawnee tribe with the British during the French and Indian War.[6]

Gunn had built motorcycles on a small scale in the garden of his house in Staines[2] with reasonable success, including a win on the 1905 London–Edinburgh trial. In 1907 he launched his first car, the 20 hp, six-cylinder Torpedo, which he used to win the Moscow–St. Petersburg trial of 1910.[2] This success produced a healthy order for exports to Russia which continued until 1914. In 1913, Lagonda introduced an advanced small car, the 11.1, with a four-cylinder 1,099 cc engine, which, by 1914, featured a panhard rod suspension and a rivetted unibody body and the first ever fly-off[clarify] handbrake.[citation needed]

During the First World War the Lagonda company made artillery shells.[2]

Between the wars

After the end of the war the 11.1 continued with a larger, 1,400 cc, engine and standard electric lighting as the 11.9 until 1923 and the updated 12 until 1926. Following Wilbur Gunn's death in 1920, three existing directors headed by Colin Parbury took charge.[2] The first of the company's sports models was launched in 1925 as the 14/60 with a twin-cam 1,954 cc four-cylinder engine and hemispherical combustion chambers. The car was designed by Arthur Davidson who had come from Lea-Francis. A higher output engine came in 1927 with the two-litre Speed model which could be had supercharged in 1930. A lengthened chassis version, the 16/65, with a six-cylinder 2.4-litre engine, was available from 1926 to 1930. Their final car of the 1920s was the three-litre using a 2,931 cc six-cylinder engine.[7] This continued until 1933 when the engine grew to 3,181 cc and was also available with a complex eight-speed Maybach transmission as the Selector Special.

A new model for 1933 was the 16–80 using a two-litre Crossley engine with preselector gearbox from 1934. A new small car, the Rapier came along in 1934 with a 1,104 cc engine and pre-selector gearbox. This lasted until 1935 but more were made until 1938 by a separate company, D. Napier & Son of Hammersmith, London. At the other extreme was the near 100 mph (160 km/h) 4.5-litre M45 with a Meadows-supplied six-cylinder, 4,467 cc, engine. A true sporting version, the M45R Rapide, with a tuned M45 engine and a shorter chassis, achieved a controversial Le Mans victory in 1935.[8] Also in 1935 the three-litre grew to a 3.5-litre.

All was not well financially and the receiver was called in 1935,[9] but the company was bought by Alan P. Good, who just outbid Rolls-Royce.[2] He also persuaded W. O. Bentley to leave Rolls-Royce and join Lagonda as designer along with many of his racing department staff.[2] The 4.5-litre range now became the LG45 with lower but heavier bodies and also available in LG45R Rapide form. The LG45 came in three versions known as Sanction 1, 2 and 3 each with more Bentley touches to the engine. In 1938 the LG6, with independent front suspension by torsion bar and hydraulic brakes, came in.

Along with ex-Rolls-Royce employees, Stuart Tresillian and Charles Sewell, and design expert Frank Feeley, Bentley hid distaste for the primitive conditions of Lagonda's factory, and got to work on the new engine that was to become his masterpiece, the V-12, launched in 1937. The 4,480 cc engine delivered 180 bhp (130 kW) and was said to be capable of going from 7 to 105 mph (11 to 169 km/h) in top gear and to rev to 5,000 rpm. The car was exhibited at the 1939 New York Motor Show: "The highest price car in the show this year is tagged $8,900. It is a Lagonda, known as the "Rapide" model, imported from England. The power plant is a twelve-cylinder V engine developing 200 horsepower.". Wikipedia

When I initially came across this image, it immediately brought to mind thoughts of poetry -- the gentlly falling snow in the graceful trees, the single bird... I looked around for a suitable haiku to use and couldn't find one I liked, so I wrote this one myself.

Probably one of the most tedious stamps I've ever carved, the Winter Haiku stamp was a real challenge because the letters are so tiny -- the entire stamp is only 2 3/4" tall -- each row of letters is 1/8" tall! Did I mention that I really don't like carving letters?

bird song breaks the frozen hush

Carving done February, 2007. Carved on PZKut with Exacto and Speedball carving tools. Finished size is approximately 2 1/2" x 2 3/4".

Despite the Opel badges and mudflaps this is indeed a Vauxhall. One of my favourite cars from the 90's is the MK3 Facelift SRi so I had to get a shot! I am liking the 'Cavalier' graphic on the rear windscreen too. Currently taxed until the 1st of April 2023 and MOTed until the 27th of March 2023, and it currently sits at around 136,425 miles. Last logbook change was on the 29th of April 2022.

Untaxed since 1996, with the last logbook issued in 1984! All the curtains were closed, so I managed to go up the driveway without disturbing anyone.

I was not expecting one of these to turn up but I am happy it did. These seem to be becoming quite popular especially among Rover fans. This one only has 25,395 miles on it but in 2006 it only had 8,331 so its had an easy life even with the mileage rising considerably. The last logbook change was on the 18th May 2021, my birthday!

Seen at the Stony Stratford classic car show.
