The Hatton Locks or Hatton Flight are a flight of 21 locks on the Grand Union Canal in Hatton, Warwickshire, England. The flight spans less than 2 miles of canal and has a total rise of 148 ft [Wikipedia]. In the distance is the tower of St. Mary's Church in Warwick.
I got these quick locks for my weight lifting bars; this will allow me to quickly mix up weights in my exercises and build muscle faster.
Although known by many as Whilton Locks, The locks themselves are officially Buckby Locks, and here we see 2 narrowboats entering Buckby Bottom Lock #13. although they will not get any further for some time at least, as the pound ahead of them was very low, maybe just 6 inches of water.

Between Wigan Pier and the former Lancaster Canal there are 23 locks. Altogether they lift the canal up 214 feet 7 inches over about two and a half miles. This is the steepest part of the canal. Most signs of the heavy industry and coal mining that were found here have now gone.

I spent last week in the company of family, friends and 3 dogs on a narrowboat, sailing up and down the Kennet and Avon canal. One of evenings, we moored by the majestic Caen Hill Locks near Devizes in Wiltshire. This is a shot from that evening.
The Ponte Milvio, spanning the Flume Tevere (Tiber River) in Rome, was an important bridge during the age of the Roman Empire. After a scene in a popular movie, couples began attaching padlocks to a lamppost on the bridge and then tossing the keys into the river. The padlocks collapsed the lamppost in 2008, not long after I took this picture. But, the tradition persisted and has since spread globally.

It takes an hour and a half to go through the 8 locks from the Rideau canal to the Ottawa river (in the summer) an 80 ft change in elevation

Passers-by view thousands of colorful "love locks" attached to a railing on Namsan mountain in Seoul, Korea. The practice of affixing padlocks to public fixtures to symbolize love -- which is said to have originated during WWI -- can be observed in many places throughout the world.
For westbound vessels the Miraflores Locks are the last of three lock series on the Panama Canal, Panama.

Bratch Locks are a delightful feature of the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal situated in the leafy outskirts of Wombourne. They are a legacy of James Brindley and offer visitors the chance to explore semi-rural South Staffordshire conveniently.
The canal runs through softly undulating West Midlands countryside, skirting around the edges of Birmingham without ever becoming truly urban. It is 46 miles long and has 43 locks.
