Depending on your perspective.... the locos are returning from mainline duties in the evening and the gates are about to be locked. The passers by are about to be locked out.... in those days it was quite normal for pedestrians to walk along unfenced railway lines... remarkable!! Today they would be called trespassers.

LMS 4-6-0 5MT 5000 and in the background GWR 4-6-0 4930 Hagley Hall reverse into Bulmers at Hereford on 22-4-81

I think this is the right date. On 11-4-81 6201 worked the bottom leg of the WM with 4930 and 5000 on the Shrewsbury -Hereford leg and I am thinking this is the reverse working. Six Bells Junction website only identifies 6201 as having worked the top leg and not what was on the train from Hereford to Newport..

This is right up the street from my kolej, on prague's band building. I hear them practicing from time to time. I walk by this every day and have always wanted to take a photo, finally did it. It amazes me how much the bars around this place are rusted. The older they get, the more layers time tries to peel off.

Haven't really uploaded anything recently, been very busy with finals and papers, etc...But the end of Prague is around the corner for me, 3 more days- I know I'll miss this place but I'm extremely excited to get back home. Especially looking forward to seeing someone special.

As I said, I'm going to start a 365 upon getting home. Right now I have an intense sunburn so maybe I'll take a day or two to rest before starting :) I'm debating whether to put the 365 it on a new account and keep these separate, but I'll probably be lazy and keep it all together!

Trent Lock is the area of canal locks around the point where the River Soar (flowing northwards) meets the River Trent (at this point flowing east). Near this point two canals also meet the Trent - the Erewash Canal, coming south-east from Long Eaton, and the short Cranfleet Cut provides a route for boats heading downstream on the Trent, avoiding a weir.

The Midland Main Line also runs past the area, over the Trent and the Cranfleet Cut.

Some way further to the west on the Trent is the Sawley Cut and Sawley Bridge Marina, and not far west of that is Derwent Mouth, where the River Derwent and the Trent and Mersey Canal join the Trent.Trent Lock (otherwise Trentlock) is located south of Long Eaton, on the borders of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire in the United Kingdom. The area is a major canal navigation junction, where the River Soar and Erewash Canal can reach the Trent and Mersey Canal by way of the River Trent and adjacent Cranfleet Cut.

Immediately to its north-east is Trent Junction, a similarly important five-way meeting point in the national railway system.

The Worcester and Birmingham Canal is a canal linking Birmingham and Worcester in England. It starts in Worcester, as an 'offshoot' of the River Severn (just after the river lock) and ends in Gas Street Basin in Birmingham. It is 29 miles (47 km) long. There are 58 locks in total on the canal, including the 30 Tardebigge Locks, one of the largest lock flights in Europe. The canal climbs 428 feet (130 m) from Worcester to Birmingham.

These cottages are at Blockhouse Lock, number four of 58.
