Love padlocks in Ljubljana started to appear in the early July 2010 on the newly constructed Butcher Bridge.

Ticklepenny Lock is still in reasonable condition after having been repaired by the Louth Navigation Trust in 1996. There used to be a wooden swing bridge here which has now been replaced by one made of concrete. In the early 1930s a sheep wash was built alongside the lock and this can be seen amongst the trees on the left hand side.

I do seem to have a thing about fences, gates and locks, and this one has all three. It was taken in the same spot as my fence and cattle photo recently posted.

I don't know how much of a problem cattle rustling is for the ranchers. But a lock helps. Even if it simply thwarts the efforts of teenagers who are bored with spray painting graffiti on the road and decide to let all the cattle out.

on top of the crowded church at Florence. someone lefted this lovely lock there. hope he/she can see the pic someday. sweet.

This is a part of the lock gates at Waterbeach. There is another lock to the left of this picture that actually allows boats to travel from one level to another. I have wanted to photograph the weir with a slow shutter speed for some time but can't get a decent angle.

I captured this around this day in 2021 about 5 months into working from home during Covid. I think this image expressed the feeling.

What a beautiful morning

The best in life is free

What a beautiful morning

Believe me

What a mystery

Though the world's on fire

Yesterday's hard words is still in my head

I feel no despair

No regrets or sorrows

Cause this new day

Makes me dance on air

What a golden day

What a beautiful morning in my life

The best in life is free

I give it all away

And I wonder what more is to come

And this beautiful morning changed my mind

Believe me when I say

The shadows fading out

As the day grows bright

We are turning pages

And we write new chapters of our life

Some are strong and long

Others weak with sorrows

Keep the focus on the rising sun

What a golden day

What a beautiful morning in my life

The best in life is free

I give it all away

And I wonder what more is to come

And this beautiful morning changed my mind

Believe me when I say

Shadows fading out

Believe me crows will always fly

Believe me they are only birds

You have to

You have to let go and you will see things in a different light

What a beautiful morning

What a beautiful morning

Believe me

What a beautiful

What a beautiful morning

Believe me

I Can't Believe its almost 10 years since I took this shot at Dover Lock just a mile or so along the canal from Penny Flash ,It feels just like yesterday ,and up to that point very few shots of Osprey had been taken in the North West ,these days obviously, everyone just pays the £100 and goes to some fish farm or other who have hides set up in either Scotland or the Midlands and basically lure the birds with free food and make a fortune out of photographers who obviously get much better shots than this ,but this was taken natural, as it caught one of the biggest roach I have ever seen , and just a few mile up the road from Leigh :)

At one time there were two stop locks at Hall Green where the Hall Green Branch of the Trent and Mersey Canal meets the Macclesfield Canal. This necessitated two lock keeper's cottages with the brick on serving the Trent and Mersey and the stone one the Macclesfield. Today there is just the one lock with a small fall from the Macclesfield Canal.

1970s Yashica Electro 35 GSN with Color-Yashinon 1.7/45mm on ADOX Silvermax 100 at EI200 in my 2B-1 two bath developer experiment @ 20C.

We're in lockdown here in Ireland, as are many other people around the world. This parking lot houses construction and works gear, but the school behind it is closed for the lockdown, probably for at least another month.

On the happier side of things, my two bath developer appears to give at least one full stop speed boost to ADOX Silvermax. I shot a bunch of stuff at EI200 by accident and it looks really good to me!

I have been using the Electro 35 GSN as my testing camera because it provides a reliable exposure for film speed testing. It is also easy to open up and cut a partial roll out while testing. Not so much my Leica M2 with its bottom loader design (which I generally like except for this). My Zorki or Kiev would be good options, too...

Zoos have evolved over the years to make the life of an animal less and less traumatic, although it is still a prison for entertainment. Unlike those parks where the work to preserve species and recover those at risk of extinction seems to me to be an extremely important social and environmental job. Seeing that there are still zoos where you see that it is simply a prison makes me sad and angry, seeing the aggressive attitude of many animals in these zoos already gives you an idea of the discomfort they feel there and in those conditions. I have mixed feelings, but I am clear that if they gave me the option to choose, I would release them all. I dedicate this series to all those animals that in one way or another live in a prison, or simply have their freedom stolen from them.
