Fricks Lock is this town that is now abandoned. From what I know, there was a lock there. Now a power company owns all the land and the town is all boarded up. There are lots of No Tresspassing signs up all over and signs indicating that the place has cameras all over, so we didn't go in. We have since found out you can get a permit to enter.
This is what we could see from the gate.
Lock and Dam 5 on the Upper Mississippi River in Minnesota City, Minn., has been dewatered this winter to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, to complete major maintenance work on it. Enlarged Erie Canal Lock 58 located in Newark, NY. Alas, the scrap metal company, just continues to mess up this site. You would have thought that they would have made an effort to keep their junk off to the side, not right smack in front of the lock. They surely were aware of the clean-up project. It's not enough that they turned the south chamber into a covered storage building. I guess we should be happy they didn't get a bulldozer and demolish it.
