Close to the Town Lock on the River Trent at Newark is a small cafe/tea room called the Lock House, previously the residence of the Lock-Keeper. The usual sort of fare is available for the peckish or those in need of a sit-down on the sturdy benches whilst partaking of some liquid sustenance- non-alcoholic! If you want something more substantial, just a few metres away is the Swan and Salmon where full meals and loads of alcohol can be bought. (The Swan and Salmon- marvellous name - is just visible, top left of my picture with a corner of Newark Castle just visible past there)
