This simple shot of the loading dock at the Peckham Feeds Grain Elevator is one of my favorites from the project so far.
Drama with a Big "D".And just because of the ominous thundery clouds and the light !
Yesterday noon, I took my bycicle and went out for a ride. There where a lot of clouds, but once in a while, the sun burst through the clouds and gave the landscape and the environment something magical.I decide to go to the industrial part of our town ( well, actually, it's the industrial zone of the town of Bornem in the province of Antwerp, Belgium) just to try and shoot under different lighting conditions and learn to use "Program shift" and the +/- exposure settings.I learned a lot in just one hour.
I'm kinda proned to only shoot when the lighting conditions are optimal : bright skies and glorious sun - you get deep shadows and magnificent light - but any kind of decent photographer has to learn to use his/her camera under different conditions and circumstances.

Here is sherlock77 with his friend Nico. The bike is an old CCM from the 1940's & Nico rides it all the time. He tossed it in today for a bit of a photo shoot.

It probably won't happen because I am running out of lives!
But I imagine I am in there, looking out at you from one of the windows as I prepare a delicious sandwich on my kitchen counter, to eat while I watch a favorite television comedy, in this, my house.
The "raised eyebrow" arches above the shrunken modern windows are winningly charmingly comical.
I think this section of the building is probably from the 1920s or 1930s, PER MY ANALYSIS of Sanborn fire insurance maps and Danville city directories. On a 1951 map it was shown as a machine shop at 305 Court St.

That Toyota pickup from model years 1984-1988 is not mine.

An old train station (Barrie, Ontario), now being restored... got there to take some pictures prior to restoration. This picture - an abandoned corner of the old loading dock, the ladder is now falling apart
my camera went into the garage this week. I'm not sure when I'll get it back. It has given me a good opportunity to go back and take a look at those photos I have already taken and never did anything week in terms of processing. I used to never think about cropping photos, now its the first thing i think of when trying to improve upon a photo that may not say much in its original form. Some people call it cheating, I think its fun so screw off. This was a photo taken of our old cold storage facility in brooklyn. Everyone get on the green bandwagon, this movement is going off!
Presumably used to distribute the Daily Camera before the building was sold to Trada, this loading dock is now used by a random guy who eats and then abandons his lunch right next to a trash can.
Pictures taken during different stages of constructing Big Iron's new shipping & containerization yard.
Precast concrete blocks are being set to create the two level loading dock.
Asphalt millings are being delivered which will be used to stabilize the yard.
A Komatsu trackhoe (excavator) is working on setting the heavy blocks as well as backfilling the wall.
