"The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom."
James Allen 1864-1912, Author of As A Man Thinketh
This is from a weekend ago... Nothing special, It is just a local park with a little league baseball field. I go here for my weekend walk to clear the mind. :D
I wish everyone a gorgeous green Thursday.
Well, the weekend is almost here so www.youtube.com/watch?v=a91pJDut50E

Friend's pl let me know what do you think I could do different to make this shot more aesthetically pleasing? same question again i am asking today hope this will help me to grow as well..:)
On my coffee cup today(the one from the image...), it said proudly, the coffee is organic.
There was a Manifesto about why this is so great, how it helps the world and how green and awesome the café is...
So wonderful!
Looking more closely, I noticed that the cup is not recycled at all...
From what I found on Google:
"Let's look at the environmental impact of a paper cup. Americans drink over 100 billion cups of coffee every year and over 16 billion of those coffees are bought in disposable paper cups, adding up to more than 6.5 million trees killed yearly. Once removed from the ecosystem, those trees no longer produce oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide nor filter ground water. But, it's not only about trees. Consider all the ink, plastic, chemicals, water and multiple fuels that go into the manufacture of 16 billion cups! In addition, 4 billion pounds of CO2 are released into the atmosphere during the production and shipping of those paper cups..."

SOOC and first diptych entry for the group Diptychs : two is better than one. HGGT!
My co-workers make fun of me now because they saw me hugging a tree in the middle of the day. It did not help that I did this without a tripod and they did not see the camera because it was on the ground. I am the talk of the office. LOL
Yep, I did this in my daily walk during working hours in a casual Friday. I work too hard, can't you tell!?
They all have been anxiously waiting for me to post this. This is for them. :D
So I was hanging out at the community of www.treehugger.com and run into the following article which discusses how black screens can save you energy and money. What!?
"....monitors uses about 74 watts to display an all white web page, but only uses 59 watts to display an all black page.." This is a saving of 15 watts.
Calculate your electric cost here. So sorry for all the nerdiness. The pic is appropriate for this article. :)
Hey! You should be viewing this in black so you can save more trees, energy and money! :D

This was taken during this summer, when few of my friends took a trip to Chicksaw State Park. It was a great place for family and friend gathering along with Asian annual cook out, fishing, and getting kill by mosquito's. XD
i am still waiting for UPS to deliver my lenses. I was happy that my delivery got bump to 2nd day air from the normal 5 to 7 days. Hopefully the weather doesn't change after i get the lens, cause the past few days has been amazing!
Have a great Wednesday!

For everyone who wants to enjoy sustainable whale watching in Tenerife, Whale Wise Eco Tours in Los Gigantes is a perfect choice!🐳 Here’s why :
- They are trying to inspire advocacy for whales, dolphins and oceans and they do it in a sustainable and responsible way.♻️
- They take into account all the impacts that their activity might have locally and globally, and they eliminate or minimize them.
- They are also taking responsibility for those impacts that they cannot reduce. They created a hybrid, self-sufficient boat. But even though, the boat can’t always run on electricity, so they also have endothermic engines with the lowest CO2 emissions.
- At the end of every year WWET donates 10% of its benefits to NGOs with similar values and doing conservation locally and worldwide.💚
Our team had a great time on the boat! We got a chance to learn about marine life, while enjoying the beautiful giant cliffs in Los Gigantes, we got to swim in the ocean and see the dolphins!🐬🌊

The plumber took this picture of his fix. I guess he was proud of it. He should be. It was the one thing LiveGreen plumbing ever did right -- besides cancel and reschedule appointments with both Carolyn & I on separate occasions. Strike 1.
However, the problem with our dishwasher backing up came back a mere year later. LiveGreen took credit with our home warranty company for fixing it because it was discovered to be fixed when they came over, but I was the one who actually did the fix by snaking it before they came over. Strike 2 for taking credit, but I signed off on that at the time, because who cares?
They also "fixed" our leaky bathtub faucet -- and the dripping resumed in just a few weeks. Our bathroom flooded, and we weren't sure if it was their drip-fix, the rain, or something else. If they had fixed it properly, we would have had less confusion about what was going on. Thanks for the stress. We still don't know now. The dripping sucks.
Strike 3. You're out. You're on my blacklist. You're 2-star yelp-reviewed. You get a star for doing one thing right, but you don't get the other 3, because your work does not hold up. Fix things right and they won't be broken again a month later!

The 4th annual Toronto Park Summit took place on February 22nd at Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park.
Toronto Park People's Park Summit is the premier event celebrating and sharing the successes and opportunities of Toronto’s 1600+ parks. This year’s theme, Reimagine Our Parks, explored creative ways volunteers and partners can transform parks into the heart of their communities. 400 of Toronto’s most passionate park advocates and champions came together at the 2014 Toronto Park Summit.
The keynote adress was given by Adrian Benepe. Adrian was New York City’s Parks Commissioner under Mayor Bloomberg from 2002 to 2012. He is currently a Senior Vice President and Director of City Park Development for the Trust for Public Land, the world’s leading independent organization supporting the protection and enhancement of city parks. Adrian is one of the leading global experts on connecting the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in public-space development and management and his role with TPL is to provide advice on using partnerships to improve parks in cities across the US. As NYC’s Parks Commissioner, Adrian oversaw a renaissance in New York City’s parks system including adding 730 acres of parkland and overseeing such exciting new parks as the High Line, Battery Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Reimaging the Role of Our Parks. We featured and explored opportunities to reimagine parks with four park groups.

The summit concluded with remarks from Richard Ubbens, acting director of Parks, Forestry & Recreation with the City of Toronto, followed by a social and tour of the new Regent Park, opening this summer.
Members of the Regent Park Food Partnership took attendees for a one-hour walking tour of the Regent Park community. Regent Park is undergoing a massive transformation, which is being looked at around the world as a model by which challenged urban neighbourhoods can be re-imagined and re-created as healthy, sustainable communities. See and hear about the new state-of-the-art neighbourhood amenities (including the six-acre park!) that are at the centre of this transformation and are sure to be a destination for the entire City!

These old pipes were probably over 70 years old. There was definitely a lot of rust. The left/hot one had clearly been leaking for some time, with lots of sediment deposit on it.
bathtub, bathtub spout, ceramic wall, dirt, drain, faucets, pipes, rust, shaving cream.
gutted. rusted.

BACKSTORY: When we moved into our house, it did not have a real shower in the main bathroom. Just the special diverter-style bathtub spout that lets you attach a shower hose. It has new problems that creep up every couple of years--we're on the 3rd or 4th bathtub spout and had plumbing work done by LiveGreen Plumbing which completely failed to stop the leaking.
A decade or so ago, we replaced the diverter-attached shower head with a double shower so we can both have separate water when we shower together. It was rigged up with waterproof tape because plastic threading isn't really waterproof. It also didn't fit on the wall well, so a washcloth wedged into a hook was holding it up. It hung very low, so that we'd both have to stoop in order to wash out our hair. When 6'-tall Andrea lived with us, showering was a particular challenge for her, because of her height & back problems. The shower hose had just recently broke in such a way that it wouldn't stay screwed into the bathtub spout diverter, and kept flying out mid-shower, in a way that only Clint seemed to be able to fix. So we decided to just go ahead and have a real shower installed instead, because of Andrea's problems, but also because this was something we should have done years ago. New plumbing was cut and soldered onto the existing plumbing, extending the water supply to shower-head height. A mixing valve was added, so we could now turn on the water without having to bend down. The cost was a mere $600, with parts being more than the labor. We still need to replace the shower head with a double shower again, but we got him to install the head higher up so that neither of us have to stoop...Not even tall Andrea! Andrea is gone, but the home improvements she helped catalyze will remain with us.

Green is not just a color. Green also stands for a nature-loving attitude towards life. Those who live in the gray city appreciate the advantages of a green environment. Living in a green environment is considered to be a lifestyle with a high quality of life. When apartments are to be sold in the vicinity of parks is "living green" a successful selling point. Here, the construction of new apartments at the park accordingly advertised with posters on the fences. GO GREEN and LIVE GREEN!

AHSwarranty is a curse of a service, and a mistake to use. They send you idiots like LiveGreen Plumbing. LiveGreen plumbing is not only bad with appointments, but they failed to fix this leak properly! The fix lasted a month or two! They are on our personal blacklist now.
I later met a competent plumber (among other myriad skills) who did side-jobs. He guessed that the manifold needed to be replaced. Instantly, he guessed this. He replaced the manifold. The leaking stopped. Why doesn't LiveGreen realize tehse things?
This competent professional also converted our shower into a proper shower, instead of the lame tubspout-diverter shower that you see here. That was a full job with welding and adding new pipes ... We paid about $600. It was amazing. I finally became an adult with a proper shower.
