Another 45-frame "Live Composite" stack, made while hunting late Perseid meteors. Just one long streak in this 15 minute stack of exposures; the "ripply" look of the star trails at top and lower left is due to some broken cloudcover. Read all about it and more, over on my blog.

One more Live Composite shot of the fireworks. This was toward the end of the show.

The annual NY Philharmonic concert and fireworks in Central Park event took place last night. It will repeat tonight. It was fun shooting with Bob and Richard and a couple of fellas we ran into at the park. This is a new (to us) location that Bob spotted while we were checking out shooting locations.

I've been to other cities and seen brightly colored tour boats, but there aren't too many like that in New York. An unusually blue colored tour boat cruised up the East River here in a Live Composite shot.

I never took a night shot from the windows of the old Filene's Basement on Union Square, but I finally got some shots tonight at the Burlington Coat Factory, which took over the space. I used a Gorillapod and pressed my lens against the window to keep out the reflections.

First attempt at Olympus' Live Composite during the day. Light was muted by smoke from summer forest fires.
After shooting the Flatiron Building last week, I looked for other architecturally interesting buildings that are not illuminated at night. I knew the Sherry-Netherland was a possibility, but I don't have anything else in mind yet.

For the first time I used the Olympus feature Live-Composite for this light painting on a silver sports hall. It enables very long exposures without increasing the basic brightness of the image.
Bildbearbeitung/Image processing: Lightroom + Color Efex Pro.

Photograph taken at the Chevron building in Houston, Texas, USA. I used my Bower 7.5mm f3.5 fisheye lens at f5.6 to capture this scene. I captured the image using the Live Composite feature of my camera with a base exposure of 0.6 seconds. The exif doesn't contain the the total exposure time but I beleive it was around 30 seconds. The only crop was taking the photograph to a 16:9 aspect ratio.

I took my first test shots in the field with my new Voigtlander Heliar 15mm lens. This is a Live Composite shot from the upper level of Pier 15 near the seaport.

Now I've read up on 'how' to do star trails. You are Supposed To Aim at the Northern Star so you get that nice roundish thing going on.
But I don't do what I am supposed to do.
This was an experiment with LiveComposite Mode on the Olympus Camera. Starry Sky AF.
This is the result of 8 minutes of 20 second composites IN camera.
The north star made trails up and around the left corner of the photo
and
I am digging
the star trails going the opposite way.
Edit? DxO Photolab with DeepPrime denoise.
That is it!
For some reason unknown to me, the city has installed traffic islands in the middle of Third Avenue around Astor Place (and elsewhere I assume). It seems unnecessary, but it also has allowed photos which were impossible before without getting run over in the process.
