The Hobart Building stands out on Market Street near Montgomery. It's not tall by modern standards, but the terra cotta exterior is striking.

Quick photography opportunity at the end of the Bank Holiday weekend, led me local to home along one of the Bridges over looking the M40 at Blue Hour. I took a few shots during the evening but this was one of my favourites.

Mt Hood, Mt Hood National Forest, Oregon. From a fun night of chasing stars with John Behrends and David Wang. As David negotiated the 10 miles of dusty washboard, pot holes, and random rocks of the road to Cloud Cap Inn, the clouds came and went. When we arrived an hour later a short time after sunset there were about a dozen cars at the Cloud Cap Saddle Campground another half dozen at the large flat parking area nearer the Inn. There was some sky visible to the SW and overhead with some fine mist in the air, so we ate our sandwiches in the car hoping the sky would clear. After dinner the sky overhead was clear, but soon it clouded over again and got forebodingly dark as we discussed how much longer we should wait to see if the sky would clear again and where we might go if it didn't. By then the misting had stopped so we tried to capture some shots in the clear parts of the sky from the parking area. A large hole opened overhead and I walked up to the Inn to look for some other comps, and while there the sky continued to clear until the only clouds were low to the northwest. So we stayed until almost 1AM capturing photos of the Milky Way with Mt Hood and the interesting trees there, seeing a few meteors which eluded even the wide net of the full frame fisheye, and hearing occasional crackling sounds of ice falls on the mountain above. Despite all the cars we only saw a handful of people and didn't encounter any serious light pollution from them. By the time we reached Government Camp on our way back the sky was again obscured, followed further down the mountain by fog, and then high clouds covering the whole sky all the rest of the way back to Portland.

The image was captured in camera using Live Composite Mode which combines the brighter parts of the 68 20sec exposures live in camera, during which I light painted the trees with a red led flashlight adding more light as I watched the composite image form on the camera's LCD. At its best when viewed on black. O1500

Rain was coming down in buckets this afternoon. It was so heavy it came right through my umbrella. We did have a nice blue hour with lightning.

Looking towards downtown Whitehorse from a hill above Mountain View Drive and Range Road. The days are growing rapidly longer so this may be one of my last night type shots of the year.

Second attempt at trying out Live Composite mode on the Olympus E-M10 II. I've only had the camera a couple of weeks but have found it to be a fantastic bit of kit and really versatile. I think it is save to say I am probably a Micro Four Thirds convert now!

I don't remember seeing these fountains before, so they must be part of the Hudson Yards development.

I didn't check the focus when I took the shot and it looks really soft except for right in the center of the image. I usually try to avoid or clone up airplane trails, but I like the curve of the plane trail here. There's also an odd bit of lens flare that appears as a red streak on the right side.

I like the perspectives from the new section at the north end of Empire Fulton Ferry State Park. This is a Live Composite shot to get the red light trail on the bridge and the boat traffic on the river. The sky looks a bit weird, but then the whole scene looks a bit surreal.

Shot using the Live Composite mode to create a painterly look. This was about a 2 minute exposure in the middle of the day. The clouds were moving slow so the effect on the clouds is is subtle. I like how the yellow prairie grass turned out.
