This condom vending machine is on the outside of a Pharmacy, Sampierdarena, Genoa, Italy.
Italy is a strong Catholic country. The Catholic Church's stance on condom use has been criticised as unrealistic, ineffective, irresponsible and immoral by some public health officials and AIDS activists.

Condom vending machines were introduced in 1928 by Julius Fromm's company.
Julius Fromm (4 March 1883 – 12 May 1945) was a German entrepreneur of Polish-Jewish descent, a chemist and inventor of a process for making condoms from liquified rubber.
With World War I, Germany experienced a rapid liberalization of sexual values and sexually transmitted diseases spread rapidly. During this time, the majority of condoms were still made of "skin": chemically treated intestine or bladder. Rubber condoms were also available; they were made by wrapping raw rubber sheets around molds, then dipping them in a solution to vulcanize the rubber.
In 1912, Fromm invented the cement dipping method, which made a thinner, seamless condom. Instead of working with rubber as a solid material, it was mixed with gasoline or benzene. This made it a liquid in which molds could be dipped. Fromm patented his invention in 1916.
Mass production started in 1922 and was a great success—Fromms Act, as they were called, becoming the first brand-name condoms—which allowed the entrepreneur soon to open up branches in Denmark, the United Kingdom, Poland, and the Netherlands. Fromms became a synonym for condom in Germany.
In 1920 Fromm was naturalized a German citizen. In 1928, the first condom vending machines were installed by Fromm's company, but the interior ministry only allowed it to advertise the hygienic advantages of condoms, not the condom's use as a contraceptive, because it feared a further decrease of the birth rate.
In 1938, under Nazi rule, the government forced Fromm to sell his factories for 116,000 Reichsmark, a fraction of their real value. A year later he emigrated to London, where he died on 12 May 1945.

The name, which the London Rubber Company trademarked in 1929, is an abbreviation of "Durability, Reliability, and Excellence", though some people mistake it as being "Durable Latex".
Durex condoms represent around one quarter of the global market for prophylactic sheaths, manufacturing around one billion units per year in 17 factories worldwide.
Although they are not an official sponsor of the Olympic Games, Durex provided 150,000 free condoms to more than 10,000 athletes that competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

On the morning of Monday, December, 18th, hundreds of water warriors, water protectors, and community members joined together to show strong opposition to PSE's blatant disregard for treaty rights and the health and safety of the community and the planet.
The Monday morning action was the culmination of an incredible eight days of fighting against PSE's LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) facility!
PSE is illegally building this facility without all its permits and with massive opposition from the Puyallup tribe and community members.
The eight days of action began Monday as activists climbed a crane to stop construction of the Tacoma LNG facility. On Thursday, activists used tripods to block all three gates to the site. That same day, a Tacoma jury, finding that they couldn’t determine whether the LNG facility is on Puyallup or City of Tacoma-owned land, acquitted two women who locked down to construction equipment. Then today, almost 200 activists blocked all entrances to the constructions site.
Gratitude to Puyallup Tribe, Native Daily Network, Protectors of the Salish Sea, Redefine Tacoma, Tacoma Direct Action, 350 Tacoma, 350 Seattle, Backbone Campaign and so many more for making all of this possible.
Parents, grandmothers and other concerned citizens used chains to lock themselves together and to the gates of the construction site. Work was halted until the early afternoon, when they police moved in and arrested two tribal members.
Despite the vocal and legal opposition of the Puyallup Nation, Puget Sound Energy is trying to build this facility anyway. Despite not having proper permits, Puget Sound Energy is trying to build this facility anyway.
If PSE succeeds, the air, water and salmon of the Puyallup Nation will be polluted. The 1854 Medicine Creek Treaty will have been violated. The voices of Indigenous people will have been ignored and pushed aside. As they have been for centuries.
But for as long as PSE tries to force through this project, we will oppose it with everything we have. For as long as PSE tries to push aside the concerns of the Puyallup, we will join in solidarity with the Puyallup.
We hope that you will join us. To start, please join 44,000 others in signing this petition:

This was created using textures and the liquify tool... the influences were Drysdale the Australian artist and an American cartoonist Gary Larson who did a series called the Far Side of which Anthropomorphism was a feature...
Some photoshop fun with a slide I took of a purple gallinule. I rotated the original image into vertical format then burned the background into black. Then using lucis art, liquify and flaming pear flexify I ended up with this surrealistic image.

Been wanting to try combining a photograph with some doodles. So...................here it is. Used studio shot of the jump against a black background, the liquify tool a wee bit on the jeans, textures from the kitchen sink and a home clothing delivery bag and of a photo of a page of my doodles which were cut out in post production, inverted and blended into the image. Another version with blue in the comments section which I think I may prefer.

Having a play with photoshop and an old shot a my friend Dean. This is a play on that programme on tv at the moment here in the UK, I'm going to try and ask people and family I know for a portrait and then play around with them to create an undateables set. Mine will be next up :)
There is a hidden meaning to the shot, the ? marks are in black and white which represent just that! It's there in black and white in front of your eyes, but should we take everything we see at face value when we could spend a little time to delve further and see a little more/see what's on the inside?

Historical signage in Grdina Park in Cleveland Ohio, in the United States about the 1944 East Ohio Gas Disaster.
East Ohio Gas was a natural gas distribution company. In 1941, it built two liquified natural gas (LNG) tanks above-ground just north of this park. Two more tanks were built in early 1944. This was the first LNG tank farm anywhere in the United States.
On October 20, 1944, two workers saw vapor pouring out of LNG Tank No. 3 at 2:30 PM. The cold natural gas fell to the ground and began pouring into the local streets and down stormwater drains and manhole covers into the sewers below. At 2:40 PM, the natural gas exploded, devastating about a half square mile of the city. The city streets were torn up by the blast, making it difficult for firefighting personnel to reach the blaze. At 2:50 PM, LNG Tank No. 4 exploded.
It took 24 hours for the fire to be extinguished. (It died out, more than was put out.) More than 130 people died; the death toll is probably closer to 150 or 160, but many of the bodies (even the bones) were burned to ash. (Had the explosion occurred just an hour later, the death toll would have neared 1,000 -- as children would have been home from school.)
Massive underground explosions ripped apart the infrastructure of the neighborhood. Electricity would not be restored for four months. A total of 79 homes were burned to the ground, and two nearby factories. More than 200 automobiles were torched as they sat on the street.
East Ohio Gas never again used the site for natural gas storage. A vehicle maintenance and repair shop was erected there in 1946, and remains in use to this day.
When the street was rebuilt, the western end of Grdina Avenue was shifted a half block to the south. This created a 2.2-acre triangular space in which a city park was established in 1946. Grdina Park today features a baseball field, playground equipment, wooden benches, and a mist/sprinkler area which operates in summer.

Steps to making a kind of flame: Start with a stroke, duplicate it as a layer or two, "smudge" the layers using repeated small circular motions etc. Then distort further with "liquify" and blend together using "lighten" or "screen." Merge down the results to a copy, blur the copy and layer as a background. FLATTEN, convert to indexed color; change color table to "Black Body;" then convert back to RGB. Using a graded or narrower initial stroke would be a good idea, this all took less than ten minutes from idea to JPEG (and no wacom tablet on that computer!).
We are proud to announce the introduction of a 6x2/2 Liquified Natural Gas tractor unit.
With a lightweight Hendrickson centre lift-axle giving a payload of up to 44 tonnes and fuel tank options providing a range in excess of 400 miles, LNG now fits the bill of any long-haul operation in the UK.
Bespoke to the UK market, this outstanding piece of engineering also provides a major premium single fuel experience, with no requirement for diesel to start the vehicle and no AdBlue required for normal running.
