Windlight: Places Between the Worlds
Anfänglich waren die neuen Triebwagen der Gattung Pesa Link die Sorgenkinder des BW Kempten. Der Start des Einsatzes im Allgäu verlief recht holprig und häufige Zugausfälle waren an der Tagesordnung. Die markant gestylten Fahrzeuge haben bereits Spitznamen erhalten. Die respektvolle Version ist "Hai", die despektierliche "Klodeckel". Am 17. Oktober 2021 konnte ich bei Görwangs den RE 57586 auf der Fahrt nach Kempten ablichten. Gebildet war der Zug aus dem 633 037 und einem weiteren Fahrzeug des Typs.
Initially, the new Pesa Link railcars were the problem children of Kempten BW. The start of service in the Allgäu region was quite bumpy and frequent train cancellations were the order of the day. The strikingly styled vehicles have already been given nicknames. The respectful version is "shark", the disrespectful one "toilet seat". On 17 October 2021, I was able to photograph RE 57586 near Görwangs on its way to Kempten. The train was made up of the 633 037 and another vehicle of the type.

A westbound Montana Rail Link ballast train led by SD45 No. 346, rumbles through scenic Jefferson River Canyon between Sappington and Whitehall, Montana, on June 26, 2019. The empty train is heading for the pit on the Spire Rock Industrial Lead west of Pipestone off the railroad’s Fifth Subdivision. On the other side of the river is the empty grade of Milwaukee Road’s electrified Pacific Extension main line that once paralleled this former Northern Pacific main line through this canyon toward Butte.
Five Montana Rail Link EMD six-axle locomotives, used as a helper set on Bozeman Pass, head downgrade back to Livingston glinting the setting sun on October 10, 2005. Westbound trains get plenty of help by this set, with MRL No. 390 leading a SD45-2 and a trio of SD45s for a total of 100 cylinders producing 10,800 horsepower.
