Beginning a short series on shorebirds away from the sea shore with some winter residents at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. This pair of long-billed dowitchers were probing the shallow waters of one of the flooded fields for aquatic invertebrates. This area is near the northern limit of their winter range.

Visited the Naruto Stable to watch sumo wrestlers go about their morning training routine. Wow, such intensity! These guys pushed themselves to their limits. It was incredible to see. Very grateful too at being allowed to photograph them during their training session.

I'm trying with 'H' when he gets furstrated that he's not good enough or didn't get things right first time (must get that from his Mom 😲🙈) that it's normal in fact even a good thing because we get as many chances as we need to get it right - there's no pressures or time limits; just as long as he does his best, - if it doesn't work out, just begin again with all that you've learnt from before and it doesn't matter when you get it right when you try your best.....

Cette photographie a été réalisée lors des « Abrivado des plages » réunissant, autour du 11 novembre, un millier de chevaux et deux cent gardians sur les plages des Saintes-Maries-De-La-Mer.
L'abrivado était jadis la conduite des taureaux depuis les pâturages jusqu'aux arènes sous la surveillance de gardians.
De nos jours,ce terme désigne une tradition taurine provençale et languedocienne consistant à simuler ces transferts de taureaux en les lâchant dans les rues fermées d’une ville ou d’un village.
Afin de faire ce trajet sans incident, les taureaux étaient encadrés par une dizaine de cavaliers disposés selon une formation en V.
Lors des traversées de villages, il arrivait souvent que les jeunes villageois tentent de faire échapper les bêtes, afin de s’en amuser. Afin de limiter les risques de voir leurs taureaux leur échapper, les gardians leur faisaient donc traverser le village au galop, à la vitesse la plus élevée possible.
De nos jours les abrivado sont organisées spécialement lors des fêtes locales de nombreux villages et villes des Bouches-du-Rhône, du Vaucluse, du Gard, de l’Hérault et des Pyrénées-Orientales.
This photograph was taken during the “Abrivado des plages” which brought together, around November 11, a thousand horses and two hundred guardians on the beaches of Saintes-Maries-De-La-Mer.
The abrivado was once the driving of bulls from pastures to arenas under the supervision of herdsmen.
Nowadays, this term refers to a Provençal and Languedoc bullfighting tradition consisting of simulating these transfers of bulls by releasing them into the closed streets of a town or village.
In order to make this journey without incident, the bulls were supervised by about ten riders arranged in a V formation.
When crossing villages, it often happened that young villagers tried to make the animals escape, in order to have fun with them. In order to limit the risks of seeing their bulls escape, the herdsmen therefore made them cross the village at a gallop, at the highest possible speed.
Nowadays, abrivado are organized especially during local festivals in many villages and towns in Provence and Languedoc in the south of France.

While doing a bit of night photography I decided to push the D3s a bit. Normally when taking Milky Way shots I use 6400 ISO. This image was taken at ISO 12800 for 30 sec. to gather as much light as possible. I did need to use a bit of noise reduction but there was considerably more detail in the sky than the similar image taken at ISO 6400 (see inside). Both images were taken for 30 sec. at f2.8.
Next stop ISO 102,400 but I'm afraid I will blow out the Milky Way! ;-)

The theme is the hermetical law of correspondence (we exist in all planes, astral as well as physical) I discovered the scape_lands in the urban environments, the streets of Berlin.

In Folge von Bauarbeiten an der Südbahn, musste der Rossberger Kieszug im September 2016 über Kißlegg umgeleitet werden von wo aus er nach Kopfwechsel weiter nach Lindau-Reutin fahren konnte. Da die Planloks der BR 232 und 233 auf dieser Umleiterstrecke die erlaubte Achslast überschreiten wurde 225 073 für die Umleiterwochen ins Allgäu überstellt. Da diese kurz nach Beginn der Umleiter mit technischen Problemen ausfiel musste die Regio Lok 218 495 einspringen und die Umleiter bespannen.
Suite à un barrage de la Südbahn entre Ravensburg et Aulendorf, le train de gravier Rossberg-Kressbron a dû être dévié via Kißlegg durant le mois de septembre 2016. Comme les locomotives habituellement utilisées de la série 232 ne respectent pas les charges limites par essieux sur l'iténéraire de déviation, la 225 073 spécialement descendue en Allgäu pour l'occasion devait assurer ces trains de déviation. Or, comme la 225 tomba en panne après quelques jours seulement, c'est une 218 Regio qui fut pris en location pour le restant des détournements.
