I was listening to the daily NSW Health update which abruptly finished while taking this photo as the Premier, Ministers, Commissioners and Chief Health Officer went to a Crisis meeting. 2 hours later they came back and placed Greater Sydney, and surrounding regions into a snap 14 day lockdown due to massive Covid-19 breach. Hopefully we eliminate it again, anyone affected by Lockdown please stay safe.

As much as I love the animal kingdom, it hasn't been easy getting to photograph them. Perhaps this little guy felt like doing his good deed for the day because he couldn't have been a kinder or more patient model.....as I was click, click, clicking away, getting closer & closer....ahhhhhhh.......The Perfect Frog....
But would I Kiss & Tell? Never!

In the late evening, loaded coal from Robinson Run grinds up Cranberry Grade near Graveyard Curve in a deafening sound comparable to any mountain grade in the US.

A crumbling tholtan ruin and lone tree situated high up in magnificent Glen Dhoo exposed to the winter onslaught with a mix of snow and rain lashing down over the valley. The conditions when shooting this were absolutely appalling and it was one of those rare moments where I genuinely feared for my camera equipment. The air temperature must have been close to zero but most of the precipitation was falling as rain, very heavy rain at that! I was totally soaked down to the skin by the time I was finished and my camera geared for all intents and purposes, may as well have had a bath such was the soaking that was experienced.
I shoot with a mirrorless Nikon Z7 camera which is a 7-year-old body now but still going strong. Conditions like this goes to show the value of proper professional level weather sealing on camera gear, especially for avid landscape photographers.
This photo was an impromptu unplanned image that I captured before declaring defeat and hiking back out of the valley. It turned out to be my favourite image of the day because it perfectly captured the conditions and the desolate isolated atmosphere of this hidden valley. A bone chilling but wonderful photography experience!

Spider Cave Crayfish
The caves, springs and sinkholes of Florida are home to more than a dozen species of crayfish. The spider cave crayfish is known for its long, spindly legs and extra-long antennae, which are covered with fine hairs. It clings to the underside of rock ledges in streams and wings its antennae to sweep up microscopic organisms floating by.
The 5 mph speed limit in the works siding at Clitheroe is a bit on the high side, but not as high as the 50 that the sign used to read before having its zero chopped off. 66722 waiting to leave with 6C00 for Carlisle. The gate to the siding on the right, which has been opened as the train is ready to leave, reads 'Horton Ribblesdale'.

Nature’s Superheroes: Life at the Limits
Life is full of unexpected wonders. Over billions of years, living things have evolved from simple cells into an awe-inspiring array of life forms—a spectacle of colours, textures, behaviours, specialized parts and exacting skills. Some species are familiar. But others are so amazing that they test the limits of our imagination.
No matter how extraordinary certain plants and animals seem to us, their unusual features often address the most ordinary of tasks: To reproduce, breathe and move around. To sense the world. To find food and safety. The living things you will see respond to these basic challenges in extremely inventive ways.

A picture that I was planning to post for quite a while. I love this odd neck-to-neck competition of these snails.

Here, the narrowness of the fascinating Partnach Gorge really comes into its own... in some places, there is barely a meter of space between the opposing vertical rock faces.

Spannend!

Anyone who knows me well knows I love The Eagles music. Glenn Frey was one of my favorite singers and I was very saddened to hear of his passing in 2016.
Now, getting back to the meaning of this photo....At this time of year, just after Christmas, there are probably a number of people who have overspent on Christmas spending and taken their credit cards to the limit. Thankfully, I am happy to say, I am not one of them! HMM everyone :)
