"-You love the sea, Captain.

- Yes!I love it!The sea is everything! It covers seven tenths of the terrestrial globe. Its breath is pure and healthy. Is the immense desert where man is never lonely, for he feels life shudder around him. The sea is the vehicle of a supernatural and miraculous existence is movement and love is living infinity, as stated by one of its poets "Response of Captain Nemo in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne.

The sky was so amazing and depending what method I used for shooting it this evening, I got some great results. The gold from the sunset reflected in the far off high rise buildings also.

My love for Venice is immeasurable.

24th May 2014, I went into the City of Sydney to view firsthand the spectacular VIVID SYDNEY 2014, a festival of light, music and ideas. This image is one of my long exposure photographs of the bright and colorful projections of light and patterns on the Sydney Opera House. These colorful projections were continuously changing making Sydney Harbour look like a piece of art.

Many of the ferries also had colorful lighting which just added to the bright and happy atmosphere created by this festival.

Coloring the city with creativity and inspiration, Vivid Sydney highlights include the hugely popular immersive light installations and projections; Vivid Aquatique immersive water theatre; performances from local and international musicians at Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House and the Vivid Ideas Exchange featuring public talks and debates from leading global creative thinkers.

The Sydney Opera House was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 28 June 2007. It is one of the 20th century's most distinctive buildings and one of the most famous performing arts centers in the world.

The Sydney Opera House is on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It sits at the north-eastern tip of the Sydney central business district (the CBD), surrounded on three sides by the harbour (Sydney Cove and Farm Cove) and inland by the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Ants form colonies of a size ranging from a few dozen predatory individuals living in small natural cavities to highly organized colonies which may occupy large territories consist of millions of individuals. These larger colonies consist mostly of sterile wingless females forming castes of "workers", "soldiers" and other groups. Ant colonies also have some fertile males and fertile females or more called "queens". These colonies are sometimes described as super-organisms, because the ants appear to operate as a single entity, collectively working to support the colonia.3

I wanted to capture this picture because it has personal meaning to me. Over five years ago, when I first moved to Charlotte, I was waiting outside for one of my friends to come down and visit. Sitting under this structure, I looked through the artwork and saw the city framed beautifully. That's the first time I realized that the city its self was a beautiful work of art. I quickly shot the picture on my phone but am happy to come back years later and capture the same (but improved) shot with my camera.

The Cantabrian Sea is a sea of transition between the cold waters of northern temperate and tropical, which makes it ecotone of plant and animal species of cold water.

The strong northwesterly winds that blow over it originated in the low pressure centered over the British Isles and North Sea in combination with the anticyclone of the Azores.

This image has been captured with home-made pinhole camera ('INSECTA') built intentionally for the purpose of photographing downtown area street scenery - with rusty facades and jammed crossroads - in a panoramic format and at prolonged exposure times.

In order to compete with this task, camera has been designed with a wide angle of view in my mind and sized to accept one sheet of "slow" silver-gelatin paper curved for even light distribution.

***

Following period of heavy rains, softly diffused light on this warm April day gave exposure of exactly 60 seconds. Apparently, this was long enough to faint all motion inside the frame, leaving only street ambience - with traffic and people literally obliterated!

***

Paper negative was scanned using high-end flatbad scanner at 1600dpi optical resolution, digitally inverted and carefully retouched for dust spots and small blemishes. Prior to upload, image has been downsized and toned in harsh purple tone.

Nestled in the heart of downtown San Francisco, Moscone Center stands as a sleek symbol of the city’s innovative spirit and forward-thinking design. Known as one of the largest convention centers on the West Coast, Moscone is a hub for tech conferences, cultural events, and international exhibitions, including the famous Dreamforce and Game Developers Conference (GDC).

This photograph captures the striking contemporary facade of Moscone’s newest expansion, showcasing a bold geometric design that plays with light and shadow. The angled panels on the upper part of the structure create a dynamic, sculptural effect, seamlessly blending form and function. These architectural details are not only visually impressive but are part of the center’s commitment to sustainability, contributing to LEED Platinum certification through energy-efficient construction techniques.

Opened in the 1980s and named after the late Mayor George Moscone, the center has undergone multiple expansions to accommodate the growing demand for convention space in the city. The expansive glass windows reflect the surrounding cityscape, offering visitors stunning views of San Francisco’s skyline. Located adjacent to Yerba Buena Gardens, the Moscone Center also integrates outdoor public space, creating a fluid connection between architecture and the urban environment.

Whether you’re attending a cutting-edge tech conference or simply admiring the modern design, the Moscone Center offers a quintessential glimpse into the urban sophistication of San Francisco. Its clean lines, innovative features, and prime location make it an essential landmark for both locals and visitors.

Berries that grow near us in fall. I like to keep dried arrangements on my lamp table of which only the tall brass base shows, but with some nice reflections.
