Test riding on Bordeaux tram-line D on 26 November 2019. The first part of the line was opened on 14 December 2019.
Okay. Here's one of those "Whisky-Tango-Foxtrot" photos one can only dream about.
It seems that over on the Market Street Railway FB page, a friend of mine, a Muni gripman and graphic artist, had a day off and a little too much time on his hands, and got "gripped" by Photoshop Fever! So he took one of my photos of a New York Subway R1 and plopped it onto a photo of his, and voilà! Instant Muni Metro nostalgia! By so doing, this individual raised the interest level of electric traction in two cities by several degrees.
But he had the wrong signs up on the train (a SERIOUS MUNI VIOLATION!)--his sign read "96th Street". (In real life, 96th Street would be some imaginary street in southern Daly City, which does have an 87th Street--as if the street numbering continued from San Francisco's 30th Street.)
This is the image copied from a Facebook post. In another area on my site (go to my Subways and Elevateds in North America group), I have an image with the "correct" rollsign.
R1 381 is acting as a control trailer (even though it has motors), and it's coupled to a Breda, which has the pantograph. Base photo by Val Lupiz; photo of R1 381. my photo. Posted on Facebook, December 7, 2017. (This shot doesn't really belong in the Streetcars And Light Rail In North America group, but I'm adding it anyway, because, after all, Muni Metro is considered Light Rail.)
(film/noedit) After a long Christmas Eve of working and wandering down a train track, looking for animals and things to capture onto film in much the same way a child does Pokemon with a Pokeball, everything just seems to go to Tron.
