I understand that when the sun sets a fiery red above a retail location, sales are about 20% higher the next day. It's a fact! I present as evidence this ancient poem:
Red Sky in the Morning,
Poor sales are a'borning.
Red Sky at Night,
Retailers' delight.
Taken in the parking lot of Woodman's while the children were waiting in the car, I had an interesting time with this shot in post-production. I had to decide what to take out and what to leave. I decided that I really liked the lone lightpost in the foreground, but I removed the others because they distracted too much from the sky. I also had to decide how much of the signage to leave on the store. I tried taking everything out, but that left the lower right corner anchorless, so in the end I left the main logo, but took out the rest of the store's signage. Despite all the photoshop work, I didn't really need to touch the sky, it really did look like this, very striking, which is why I took a picture in a parking lot in the first place.
@ISO 1600, illuminated by a streetlight, with almost no natural light left. Have I mentioned this camera is amazing?
This picture immediately takes me back to the Greek island of Rhodes. The turquoise/blue water that is so beautiful, your mind tell you that it can't be real. Then the realization hits you that Turkey is in the background rising out of the sea. It is sometimes too much for your mind to comprehend.
Alfama is one of the Lisbon's oldest districts. It has more charm at the end of the day with the lightposts giving some light in the small streets.

The moon travel fast across the night sky. I tried with all my might to convince it to be still for a picture but it would not.
This "ombre" lightpost bomb is special because the yarn came from a local woman who donated her deceased mother's stash to our project after reading about the projects in the newspaper. As such, the colors were dictated by the stash and it's a memorial bomb that holds special meaning for me and the community in which the honoree lived and crafted.
Here is something special, That little bit of parallel section of rail just by the end of the shadow of the lightpost is the only surviving section of IK Brunel's seven foot and a quarter Broad Gauge rail, in its original place, anywhere in the world.
When the whole system west of Exeter was narrowed in one fell swoop over a weekend in May 1892, narrow rails were laid in to the cobbles on the quay lines here, except this one little section to save digging up the cobbles and i wonder how many people walk passed and not give this historical piece of history a second glance.
