The light standards at the local softball fields are aglow as a runner jogs along the base paths at dusk on an early May evening.

A hawk landed in our back yard a few days ago.

This style of urban lightpole used to make me feel romantic and cosmopolitan until people started replacing the bulbs with helical compact fluorescents from Walmart.

 

Helical compact fluorescent lamps are aesthetically appropriate for use only in fixtures that shield the bulbs themselves from direct view. I think most Americans know this, but they can't afford to buy anything nicer.

This vacant lot once had a service station. All that remains now is a light pole.

The sun was so intense today. BRING ON SUMMER.

A lonely street lamp on my walk home tonight. I walked home from my dad's house to my mom's house. It was that or my brother taking me home, which I didn't want to ask because I'd rather not be alone with him.
