This is for the Fix My Pic Please group,
from two originals by pippin828, titled, My Girls !!.
I really liked the shots very much and there were parts of both that were my favorite. I copied on onto the other and had the layer as a screen mode....this way I could see the two images together. They fit perfect! I was like..Wow, that's pretty cool.
So I duped each layer and applied a layer mask to each. I use the hide all option, and then paint on the mask with a white airbrush...this will reveal that portion of the layer only...just what you paint white.If you mess up, just go back and paint with black...the images comes back.
I added a stage to the background with some lights. I could have used the pen tool to select the portions of the two images, but the layer mask does a very good job on this, and is much easier. You could practice the pen tool as well. Thank you pippin828, for letting me work on your awesome photos.

I used a couple of portions of some of my pieces in the background and foreground on several layers. I applied several lighting applications to work with the opacity and also used some applied ligh too.

After this butterfly landed in this cedar tree, and the underside so richly highlighted with the sun behind the subject, I thought this would make for an interesting photo.
