Glorious premise in the historical centre of Pavia (Lombardy Region) which contributed to make the night life popular in this little town. This premise, owned by the family Ravizza, the same as the Fashion brand Annabella, was sold few years ago and went under some drastic renovation & refurbishing works which totally distroyed this Space Age flair. The only survived element of this glorious premise is the huge Murano Glass chandelier lamp in handcrafted blowed glass, the only element which is not Eames Era styled, well visible in this photo, taken in 2014 before the changes.
The name of this Café & Restaurant has also changed in "Nuovo Demetrio" from the subtitle of Annabella Café (Al Demetrio). This is almost considered a town monument since the foundation of this Café is very ancient dating back to 1758,more than 250years ago!

—mainly I threw myself in there for scale.
Here's what the scuptor has to say on his web page, about this sculpture:
"Aluminum Yucca was made from salvaged hollow aluminum fuel tanks from F-16 military aircraft. The hollow forms were sliced vertically to resemble the scooped shape of the Datil Yucca leaf, which is native to the area. At night, the sculpture is illuminated by a slow-moving, solar-powered color wheel that recreates the hues of the Albuquerque desert landscape.
The exaggerated scale celebrates the romance and nostalgia of western Road Culture in the 20th century – evident all along Route 66 in wigwam-shaped hotels, five-foot Mexican sombreros and giant cowboy boots."
Funded by Albuquerque's Public Art Urban Enhancement Division, the city considers this piece the "Route 66 Gateway to Albuquerque" from the East Mountains. They have posted an image of it themselves here, but you'd never know from it that this yucca is 22 feet high and 15 feet wide (6.7 x 4.6 meters).
Those are Manzano foothills across the freeway, south.
Location: rocky hillside, Tijeras Canyon NE, I-40 West/Route 66 just east of exit 167; Albuquerque, New Mexico 8:21pm
ps: the color wheel for the lights seems to no longer turn – it stayed green the whole time I was there....
A sculpture Detail is here.
Actually it's not new it's just newly renovated, with a brand new red ceiling and LED lights. Light design by Ingo Maurer.
It's kind of different light, standing below it's normal LED Light, looking forward they become red light strips. On the floor it's quite homogenous and free of shadow. However pedestrians walking trough the light changes below the light and between the light stripes. The faces are light up like sun from straigt up and go into shadow again.
Also because of the reflection there are virtual walls coming down from the ceiling.
The Denver City and County building is going "green" this year with the installation of 585 LED light fixtures and 2,000 feet of LED rope.
