Im HIntergrund befindet der Dom und am rechten Rand sieht man ein kleines Stück der Alte Galerie - In the background you see berlin cathedral and on the right corner a small part of the old gallery.
Because we're talking about holiday memories, I'll go right back to the beginning of my Slovenia tour, to Bled to be precise.
I don't think I've ever photographed a subject as often in such a short time as the island with the church in the middle of Lake Bled. I was only here for two days and still there are at least 5 versions of this picture. And since I'm only counting the versions that were made from the shore. The conditions were constantly changing and so every time I looked at the lake the sight was completely different and beautiful again. So, of course, I had to capture all of these different faces.
Here, it's easy to see that it's dusk and besides the fact that a light just came on here and there (that's why I'm here), I'm standing under an umbrella in the pouring rain and trying to operate the camera with one hand. As you can see, I did quite well.
Weil wir gerade bei Urlaubserinnerungen sind gehe ich gleich nochmal zurück zum Anfrang meiner Slowenien Tour, genauer gesagt nach Bled.
Ich glaube, ich hab noch nie ein Motiv in so kurzer Zeit so oft fotografiert wie die Insel mit der Kirche in der Mitte des Bleder Sees. Ich war nur zwei Tage hier und trotzdem gibt es mindestens 5 Versionen dieses Bildes. Und da zähle ich nur die Versionen, die vom Ufer aus gemacht wurden. Die Bedingungen waren ständig im Wandel und so war der Anblick, jedesmal wenn ich auf den See geblickt habe, völlig verändert und wieder anders schön. Also musste ich diese unterschiedlichen Gesichter natürlich alle festhalten.
Hier, das ist unschwer zu erkennen, ist gerade Abenddämmerung und neben der Tatsache, dass gerade hier und da ein Licht anging (darum bin ich hier) stehe ich gerade im strömenden Regen unter einem Schirm und versuche mit einer Hand die Kamera zu bedienen. Was mir, wie man sehen kann, ganz gut gelungen ist.

Thistle is the common name of a group of flowering plants characterised by leaves with sharp prickles on the margins, mostly in the family Asteraceae. Prickles can also occur all over the plant – on the stem and on the flat parts of the leaves. These prickles are an adaptation that protects the plant from being eaten by herbivores. Typically, an involucre with a clasping shape similar to a cup or urn subtends each of a thistle's flower heads.
The comparative amount of spininess varies dramatically by species. For example, Cirsium heterophyllum has minimal spininess while Cirsium spinosissimum is the opposite. Typically, species adapted to dry environments have greater spininess.
The term thistle is sometimes taken to mean precisely those plants in the tribe Cardueae (synonym: Cynareae), especially the genera Carduus, Cirsium, and Onopordum. However, plants outside this tribe are sometimes called thistles.
Biennial thistles are particularly noteworthy for their high wildlife value, producing such things as copious floral resources for pollinators, nourishing seeds for birds like the goldfinch, foliage for butterfly larvae, and down for the lining of birds' nests.
A thistle is the floral emblem of Scotland and Lorraine, as well as the emblem of the Encyclopædia Britannica.
Been outdoors for some shooting and stumbled across this litlle blossom. I took a closup image and the light behind the blossom did the job very well. I`ve been once again impressed about the nature of mother earth!

Antelope Canyon is a spectacular canyon in Arizona on Lake Powell. The bizarre crevices in the ground were created by Antelope Creek, which dug its streambed into the soft sand beach over millions of years. Accordingly, the Navajo Indians who own the land call it "Tse’ bighanilini "- the place where the water flows through the rocks. Due to the narrow width of the watercourse, so-called slot canyons formed, whose narrow gorges are a typical feature of the landscape on the American Colorado Plateau.

Der Antelope Canyon ist eine spektakuläre Schlucht in Arizona am Lake Powell. Entstanden sind die skurrilen Spalten im Boden durch den Antelope Creek, der sein Bachbett über Jahrmillionen in den weichen Sandstand gegraben hat. Dementsprechend nennen ihn die Navajo-Indianer, denen das Land gehört, „Tse’ bighanilini” – der Ort, wo das Wasser durch die Felsen fließt. Durch die geringe Breite des Wasserlauf bildeten sich so genannten Slot Canyons, deren schmale Schluchten ein typisches Landschaftsmerkmal für das amerikanische Colorado-Plateau sind.
On my trip through south France, one of the things that was fascinating me most were this small villages in the middle of the mountains, like this one here called Peillon. Built like a fortress and clung closely to the mountains, they are talking about unsecure times in the past. That construction form is called "Village Perché" that is translated as "Village on the riff" ore in colloquial speech "Eagles Nest".
Eine der Sachen, die mich bei meiner Fahrt durch Südfrankreich am meisten fasziniert haben waren die kleinen Dörfer mitten in den Bergen, wie hier das Dorf Peillon. Gebaut wie eine Festung und eng an den Fels geschmiegt lassen diese Dörfer auf recht unsichere Zeiten in der Vergangenheit schließen. Man nennt diese Bauweise "Village Perché" was wörtlich übersetzt als "Dorf auf der Klippe" umgangssprachlich auch als Adlernest bezeichnet wird.
Been outdoors for some shooting and stumbled across this litlle blossom beauty. The Softness and the the lightmarksaround the blossom catched my eyes and it created a fantastic atmosphere. The lightmarks did the rest to get this shot as you can see it here!

When you are in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, you are constantly confronted with one thing. And that's a lot of people. What is an absolute highlight for some quickly becomes a burden for others. As a landscape and nature photographer, I clearly belong to the second category.
And so I have to get out of the crowd from time to time and look for a quiet place to really enjoy my stay. Especially here, near the famous Charles Bridge, it's really not easy.
But I managed to do it halfway. And so I am now sitting, leaning my back against a wall, on the banks of the river Vltava and enjoying the sight of the historic buildings and the hustle and bustle at a pleasant distance.
Ist man in Prag, der Hauptstadt von Tschechien, unterwegs ist man ununterbrochen mit einer Sache konfrontiert. Und das sind Unmengen von Menschen. Was für den einen ein absolutes Highlight ist wird für den Anderen schnell zur Belastung. Ich, als Landschafts- und Naturfotograf gehöre eindeutig zur zweiten Kathegorie.
Und so muss ich von Zeit zu Zeit raus aus dem Gewimmel und mir einen ruhigen Platz suchen um den Aufenhalt wirklich geniesen zu können. Gerade hier, in der Nähe der berühmten Karlsbrücke ist das wahrlich nicht einfach.
Doch es ist mir halbwegs gelungen. Und so sitze ich nun, mit dem Rücken an eine Mauer gelehnt, am Ufer der Moldau und geniesse den Anblick der historischen Gebäude und das bunte Treiben in angenehmer Entfernung.

Blick von der Terrasse unseres Ferienhauses im Kleinwalsertal auf den Ort Mittelberg. Es war eine beeindruckende Stimmung, mit einem sich schnell verändernden Himmel in verschiedenen Wolkenformationen und Farben. Der Himmel wurde ca 1 Stunde vor der eigentlichen Aufnahme des mit den Lichtern beleuchteten Ortes fotografiert. Die Kamera in unveränderter Position auf dem Stativ. Die Aufnahmen zu den unterschiedlichen Zeiten dann in Photoshop übereinander geblendet.
View from the terrace of our holiday home in Kleinwalsertal to the village Mittelberg. It was an impressive atmosphere, with a fast changing sky in different cloud formations and colours. The sky was photographed about 1 hour before the actual photograph of the place illuminated by the lights. The camera in unchanged position on the tripod. The photographs at the different times then blended over each other in Photoshop.
Because of my profession I was able to visit the beautiful Bavarian town Rothenburg ob der Tauber a while ego. I had only one evening for a short walk through the historical oldtown district, thats why I concentrated on the most popular points. Here You see a place called Ploenlein with the Sieberstower (left) and the Kobolzeller gate (right), both parts of the old city wall. I'm very confident, that I can spend some time here again next year.
Mein Beruf hat es mir vor einer Weile ermöglicht die wahnsinnig schöne Stadt Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bayern zu besuchen. Ich hatte nur einen Abend Zeit um einen kurzen Rundgang in der historischen Altstadt zu machen, darum habe ich mich auf die bekanntesten Punkte beschränkt.
Das Bild zeigt einen Ort der Plönlein genannt wird, mit dem Siebersturm (links) und dem Kobolzeller Tor (rechts), beides Teile der alten Stadtmauer. Ich bin sehr zuversichtlich, dass ich im nächsten Jahr hier nochmal etwas Zeit verbringen kann.
Today again a picture from home, from the beautiful old town of Dresden at night.
That evening I had photographed different perspectives, which unfortunately I liked so much that I couldn't decide on a single one. I showed you most of these quite a while ago, but this one has been awaiting release ever since.
As I look at the picture and reminisce, the desire to do a photo tour there grows in me. Let's see when that will come true. I'll keep you up to date.
Heute wieder einmal ein Bild aus der Heimat, von der wunderschönen Altstadt von Dresden bei Nacht.
Ich hatte an diesem Abend verschiedene Perspektiven fotografiert, die mir dummerweise alle so sehr gefallen haben, dass ich mich für keine einzelne entscheiden konnte. Die meisten davon habe ich Euch bereits vor einer geraumen Weile gezeigt, doch diese hier wartet seitdem noch auf ihre Veröffentlichung.
Während ich das Bild betrachte, und in Erinnerungen schwelge, reift in mir der Wunsch mal wieder eine Fototour dort zu machen. Mal sehen, wann sich das realisieren wird. Ich halte Euch auf dem Laufenden.

Now that I'm back home I can turn to the pictures, which require a bit more work to edit. Like this panorama of the beautiful city of Krumlov on the Vltava. Like a snake, or a dragon the river meanders around and through the city. so that when crossing one has to cross the same river several times.
Even if the weather conditions here might not suggest it, this picture was taken shortly before Easter. Damn, was it cold up there.
Nun, da ich wieder zu hause bin kann ich mich den Bildern zuwenden, deren Bearbeitung etwas mehr Aufwand mit sich bringt. So wie dieses Panorama von der schönen Stadt Krumau an der Moldau. Wie eine Schlange, oder ein Drachen schlängelt sich der Fluß hier um die Stadt und durch sie hindurch, so dass man beim Durchqueren mehrmals den selben Fluß überqueren muss.
Auch wenn es die Wetterlage hier vielleicht nicht vermuten lässt, dieses Bild entstand kurz vor Ostern. Verdammt, was das kalt da oben.

Been outdoors for some shooting after some summer rain with the TC1.4X and found this beautiful waterdroplets on a tiny blossom besides the trail. If you aren`t awake with your mind and explore the sourroundings you might pass away without perceiving all this whats around you!

Life, for all of us, is a mosaic of the brutal and beautiful. We often find ourselves right in the middle of these polar expressions. I don’t know about you, but it seems that life has become more and more challenging now. We are more stressed and anxious than ever before.
You can make decisions that change your life’s path but to make wise choices you must have faith and courage in yourself. You may not be able to control the outcome of the new path that you choose, and perhaps you will act in error, but that doesn’t really matter, because even then you can choose your reaction to the outcome.
If it is positive, enjoy it. If it is negative, endure it as it is just another learning opportunity and experience that will pass, just as the positive experiences will.
We often complain about our lives and rarely stop to think about what we are really saying. There are some people in the world who would cherish a tenth of what many of us have.
If you have a roof over your head, food on your table and family then you are already living the life of someone else’s dreams. There was once a time in your life that you dreamed of having something that you have right now.
Accept yourself. No one is perfect. You are on life’s journey to experience and grow not to declare yourself the finished perfect specimen of humanity. No one really wants to be friends with Perfect Penelope, do they? She is probably more angst-ridden than the rest of us.
With each challenging experience that you face you will develop in character and your virtuosity will strengthen. Experience guides you on the path to the good life. Embrace and accept all of life.
It really will all be okay in the end.
