The great blue heron (Ardea herodias) is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North America and Central America, as well as the Caribbean and the Galápagos Islands. Wikipedia
Largest of the North American herons with long legs, a sinuous neck, and thick, daggerlike bill. Head, chest, and wing plumes give a shaggy appearance. In flight, the Great Blue Heron curls its neck into a tight “S” shape; its wings are broad and rounded and its legs trail well beyond the tail.
RELATIVE SIZE
Taller and much heavier than a Great Egret; smaller and much less bulky than a Sandhill Crane.
Color Pattern
Great Blue Herons appear blue-gray from a distance, with a wide black stripe over the eye. In flight, the upper side of the wing is two-toned: pale on the forewing and darker on the flight feathers. [...]. www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Great_Blue_Heron/id#

Colourful memories of our 2016 Autumn travels in Nova Scotia
The wild lowbush blueberry plant, Vaccinium augustifolium, is for the most part confined to northeastern North America. The principal commercial wild blueberry producing areas are Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Maine. [...].
In Nova Scotia the wild lowbush blueberry has developed from humble beginnings into one of the provinces most important horticultural crops. The large scale commercial development of today had its beginnings in the late forties and early fifties. Since then, the industry has steadily expanded. Wild blueberries are the No. 1 fruit crop in the province in terms of total acreage, export sales and total value to the provincial economy.

A sunken village.
Reschensee / Lago di Resia, near the Italian-Austrian border.
To answer the questions: Yes, it is a reservoir. The village of Graun (Curon Venosta) itself was destroyed, the inhabitants had to build new houses nearby. People in the region are still not happy with what happened and how people were forced out of their houses. All this happened - as I researched just for you - in 1950.

It is always interesting for me to experiment with flipped reflections in water. On my walk around the lake, in -6C temperatures, I captured many different views of the log house and its reflections in the still waters. As the morning wore on the sun's rays began to melt the frost in areas that were not in shadow adding yet another dimension to an already perplexing but hopefully fascinating series (presented here in no particular order) of flipped and un-flipped images .

Enjoy your Sunday and thanks for visiting.
