I like this A better than my first. The thick and thin strokes and a thin crossbar feel the best so far.

All good things must come to an end – and they often involve ladders.

Drawing inspiration from my rooms, I decided to explore creating letterforms using this theme. Presented above is the picture "F', of said experimentation with forming a cohesive alphabet.

I came up with a whole bunch of variations for this project. Unfortunately we were only allowed to do Black and White, 1 color, and two color variations for the final product.

Final documentation and comparison with digital originals. You make the call. From this Spring's FDN_1111 grupetto. The digital variants (see former postings) have given way to the mysteries of real life, and love?

More soon.

Unintended Letterform, Metal

9/11/2014

College Park, MD

I chose a variety of letterforms and, sticking to black and white, produced various crops and compositions. I like these designs as they are clean and use white space. I gained an understanding of how logos could be developed in this way.

Paintings done from sections of the charcoal drawings I did of letters.

Since a jumbo-sized Galaxy theatre is going up a block away, this “Capitol 4” movie theatre & sign probably won’t be around for long.

The C is totally too far away from the A, (it reads as “C APITOL 4”)…Still, I dig the letterforms. Funk-ay!

Letters: B, R, G, V, W, Z, N, X, M, A.

This is the start of a Modular Letterforms project for college.
