-¿De qué hablábamos?

-De nada. Bailábamos.

-Ah.

-What have we talked about?

-Nothing. We're dancing.

-Ah.

(While we danced I thought about universal diets, gestures of culture, Robocop and the fact we are no longer understood not even by the baker. "Sínglota" language, hibridous plot, what the fuck they want us to explain it, at this stage of the match, of the matches, whatever possible, if there's any league still "chikiplaying").

Berlin, Waldbühne - Serious Moonlight Tour 1983

When the pounding of the drum connects to the pounding of your heart, your feet begin to stomp in reverence, and your elbows arch upwardly like the eagle prancing across the ground ! Voices singing sounds and words lifting energies that carry you, yes.....

Let's Dance ! Let's Celebrate !!

En Para Rockear y Colorear.

My remix of Chris Montez's 1962 classic, Let's Dance! Written and produced by Jim Lee. If you didn't hear it the sixties, you probably know it from the food-fight scene in National Lampoon's Animal House. I have tried to put more thunder in the drums and more zing in the organ. The main scenes in the video mash-up are Anna Karina's dancing scene from Jean-Luc Godard's Vivre sa vie (1962).

I've been trying to finish a painting project, but Its been raining (a lot) and flooding (5th time for my basement), so I finally knuckled down and got to sewing...

I'm glad I am got them done when I did. A summer cold that has been dogging my family has finally caught up to me. Chicken soup and rest is my future for the next week or so...

So I'm at an antique store and one of the vendors has done this gorgeous display of blue and white china. Not a single piece matched, but somehow, all together, everything worked.

So of course the batteries were dead on my phone and when I went back they had changed the display.

So I found the right fabric and went nuts sewing. Inspiration hits in the weirdest of places.

I believe another Flickr member did something similar for Fashion Royalty dolls, but Isn't this fabric divine???

Up on Evil Bay starting tonight

Picture taken during David Bowie's concert at Murrayfield, Edinburgh, June 28, 1983. This was the "Serious Moonlight" tour, promoting the "Let's Dance" album.

I had press credentials for this concert, through my affiliation with the Edinburgh University "Student" newspaper as an occasional photographer for them. The fact that term had ended for the year already didn't seem to be a problem.

As I recall, we had to wait in the tunnel for Bowie to walk past us on to the stage and then we were allowed in the pit in front of the scarily large crowd for just the first three songs. After that, we had to move out into the stadium, leaving just the official photographer to do his business.

This particular picture sold quite a few copies in a local photography shop that summer, although I doubt that I made very much money.

I was motivated to search for this picture when Bowie announced a new single in January 2013, the first more a decade or so. The Guardian accompanied the news with a picture much like this, with Bowie wearing the same jacket. I haven't managed to locate the original negatives yet, so this is a scan from a large print I had made at the time.

It's been gloomy all March and I am so ready for spring! (And is anyone else having problems with Flckr periodically kicking them off?)

Christie is wearing a 1982 outfit called Let's Dance, or what she would rather call Saltemus given that she likes listening to songs in Latin. Seriously, look at the titles of the songs Mattel put on the jukebox

Originally bought the fabric for children's masks--but Barbie likes it too!

Autumn/Fall 2015 ~ Central Florida ~ Disney Springs (at night)

(two more photos of 'this restaurant' in the comments)

**********************************************************************************

Created by music superstar Gloria Estefan and her producer

husband Emilio, this vibrant restaurant is a mosaic of colors and flavors set against fabulous Latin music and a celebratory spirit.

This magnificent restaurant opened in 1997 in Disney Springs at

the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, a metropolis of fun! The building's Old Havana architecture is dominated by a massive pineapple-shaped adobe structure that fills the skyline of Disney Springs. Beyond the barriers of the typical enclosed bars, lounges, and nightclubs, this 550 seat family restaurant offers spacious surroundings that will allow you to be a conga line leader, or quiet spectator. The flavor of its roots, textures and colors define this stunning space like no other. So much fun & highly recommended!
