I wasn't too happy with the 7D at the show. It didn't do too well. I got better photos at Icon of Coil @ Abbey Pub in 2009 with the 5D. (same 24-70 lens). I am not sure what the deal is. Many of them are not focused well. I had it set on regular AF mode, just like I would on the 5D. Since I was holding the camera above my head for these shots, that mode is needed to target the subjects. There was enough lighting, so I don't think that was the problem. With the 5D's AF being so inferior to the 7D's, this puzzles me. I did get some OK shots but it was a pretty low keeper rate.

hmm looking at the Icon of Coil photos, it looks like there may have been more light there. That could explain the trouble I had at this show, it wasn't well lit, comparatively speaking. Here are some of the Icon of Coil shots:

Attention my facial haired friends. A quick PSA.

Here is the tale of two beards. The one on the left was 6 months of head shampoo. Itchy, dry brittle hair and skin. I was so happy to shave it off. It started off as a beard, but I got so many ingrown hairs, I had to make it this dingy looking goatee.

Growing a Movember beard? First beard? Is it itchy?

I have been using high quality beard products from @canyouhandlebar for 18 months. Made my beard hairs super healthy and a comfortable experience. Still use them in my mustache solo.

Happy Saturday, again.

Just thought I would share. Don’t be afraid to change it up a little. Experiment. Stay within what you feel comfortable doing, but definitely shake it up a little. I use wax, medium, strong, extra strong, light and no heat. I shape by hand and use rollers. I go natural and with just oils and balms.

Take lots of photos. Change the scenery, change the lighting, change your angle. Go full Zoolander Blue Steel or MAGNUM.

Wow. This @savvyjackwax mustache wax is strong 💪! I did use my hair dryer on low heat to soften the wax. Directions say warm in pocket, but I like the hair dryer on low. I also hit the mustache once or twice with “cool”(still had a small amount of heat) on the mustache to run the Tomahawk comb through to spread the wax.

The Tomahawk comb was cool. Wooden combs can prevent static. So the Tomahawk directions state that you can put a small amount of wax on the tapered end, then roll your mustache. So I did.

Took me a try or two to roll it correctly. It rolled up in a tiny circle that when I slid the tapered end out, the tight circle slowly unraveled. This for me was really cool. My normal routine I fight with my hand made curls to keep them from straightening. Really cool and (once you roll it right) neat idea to help with those curls.

Now, it's possible that I'm branching into territory of "stuff I'm really passionate about, but no-one else really cares for" here, but I adore Moleskines. They are almost unjustifiably expensive, but I gravitate to them in my notebook choices every time. I simply will not use another diary. This red Moleskine is my first, having always used classic black. Bought for me by my wonderful sister, Claire: 240 lined pages of acid-free paper, for joy-filled note taking for me!

Way to the west of the Empire lie the lands of the elves. Humans and dwarfs are not permitted there, the elven lands will not allow themselves to be found for interlopers. Their closed society and suspicion of anything from the outside had lent the elven lands an almost lengendary air of magic and mysticism. No elf has even been seen beyond their own lands in living memory, leaving some to doubt that they even exist at all.

But exist they do, and it is a land of turmoil, trouble and strife. The walking council of trees has awoken in the Long Forest for the first time in millennia, and the ancient wards protecting the fey and amplifying their magics are beginning to collapse. There is no elf alive that remembers now how the wards were constructed, or how they could be repaired.

Tir-da-narin al ‘Fayel is a scout. She is young, for an elf. She has only been patrolling the wards in the borderlands for seven hundred years. Her magic is still weak, and she has much yet to learn. The elders consider her merely a child. When she discovers a dying Ledergaard escaping from her Norther captors, she helps the shaven headed warrior to escape and recover.

And thus a pact is formed and a bond is made, between human and elf. The Ledergaard were once able to speak Elven, sadly Maeve has no tongue, a gutteral grunt is her only speech. Tir-da-narin al ‘Fayel needs the Ledergaard’s help however; the Ledergaard Northers being an accomplished and long lived people, had a history once of dealing with elves. Maybe, thinks Tir-da-narin al ‘Fayel, the knowedge to repair the forest wards and stave off the waking of the council of walking trees lies in Ledgergaard lands, if there are any Ledgergaard lands remaining, after the brutal assault of the Norther forces.

And so they begin their trek, to the location of where the Leedergard city once stood, in the hope that something of their knowledge of elf remains. It will be a hazardous journey, but with Tir-da-narin’s magics and Maeve’s skill with pistols and blade, they have a good chance against anything the world throws at them.
