here you can see how the green is darker on the bottom (and actually, darker than in this photo) and a little lighter at the top - just perfect!

this time I went the lazy route and was rewarded!

basically, I just soaked the skeins of yarn in some water (straight from the store). while they were soaking, I mixed the lemon-lime (with a little berry blue) in my crockpot. I set two skeins (all that would fit, I have a small crockpot) on their ends in the dye, then poured some more hot water in until about the half the skein was in the green dye. when the water was clear, I carefully removed the skeins and set them on a towel. then I changed out the water and mixed some berry blue in the crockpot. I put the skeins on their other ends in the blue, filled up the crockpot until it was overlapping the green, and let that cook until the water was clear.

I rinsed each skein in water with some vinegar (though I don't think that's really necessary since kool-aid is so acidic) and *then* I wound them into nice loose hanks to dry.

Fizz is the secret.

I wanted to do a wing detail on the Luna Moth I found last night. Unfortunately, none of them turned out. Well, I think I might have to go play the lottery tomorrow. Just my luck here's another breathtakingly beatiful Luna again tonight!

The wings on these lovelies are slightly transparent, so you can actually see the eyespot of the underwing showing through here...

Day 346 - Today being donut friday and all here at work, makes for a very tasty friday before the weekends. Which I do enjoy, anyways after the donuts a bag of jellybeans showed up, we spent like some time around the very cool beans discussing how good our palettes are. I did not boast or anything, infact I knew I did not have a very good one, but went along for the test anyways.

My results starting from Left to Right of the photo.

Coffee - Correct

Lemon lime soda - Incorrect my guess was Lime

Green apple - Correct

Lemon lime - Incorrect my guess again was Lime

Strawberry Daquari - Incorrect my guess strawberry

I felt pretty ripped off to tell you the truth as the bag advertises 44 flavours, what they fail to mention is that they repeat flavours like lemon lime soda and lemon lime. Then there is like 3 different flavours of strawberry and 2 chocolates.

Needless to say at least I could recognize 2 for 5, but then if you think about it I did recognize the flavour of the 3 in question.....

Stupid taste tests bah!

lemonlime - summertime

I did some great thrifting while in AR. I got some fabric, some tea towels, and some napkins. All vintage and all in great condition. A set of four lemon-lime print napkins.

sunshine on my lemons, makes me happy...

I would have done a focus stack on this one, but it was moving quite a bit. Still, I like the bokeh-pillar effect... Boy the eyes on this thing are tiny.

A box of 24 cupcakes that I made up for a friend who owns a local coffee shop and is thinking about selling my cupcakes in her cafe. The back ones were just baked and too warm to frost (but she really just wanted to try the flavours. The cupcakes are lemon lime, almond ricotta with raspberry jam, white chocolate mud cake with chocolate frosting and fondant butterfly, and chocolate truffle cupcake with raspberry meringue buttercream.

I did this a little differently because I used the more diluted powder form of Kool-Aid sold in large tubs. I used 15 tablespoons of the Blue Lemonade and 12 tablespoons of the Grape. I wasn't satisfied with how lightly it was drying, so I redunked it in 6 packets of lemon-lime to punch it up.

Untouched by photoshop in natural light.. I wonder if I should've combed thru the mohair before dyeing it :/

This image captures what a muff looks like from behind: elegant, regal, warm, cozy, and unique. Cinch it with the crocheted cord for added ruffle.

Just finished this morning!
