A closer look at the protestors featured in my recent vignette for the 253rd Elite Legion.

The year is almost over and as always that means a look in the rear-view mirror. I’ll be honest with you, this year was a tough one. Finishing my studies, moving out from home and finding a job had me busy for most of the time and left little time for creative endeavours. Yet, whenever I found time to build something, especially in the early months of the year, it was as much fun as ever. I only built a few MoCs this year, but every one of those is dear to me. My series Uncertain Ways finally returned from the depths of inactivity and with my build for The Book of Boba Fett Collab I even made it to The Brothers Brick once again! So, I’d still count this year as a success, despite only consisting of 4 builds and 13 photos.

My plan for next year is to build more, be more active and especially enjoy every second of Lego activity as much as possible! I hope to post more Uncertain Ways and also be active in the 253rd Elite Legion again.

As always, here’s the complete list of builds for this year, even though it is a short one.

1. ISB Investigations – Empire's Old Enemies Collab

2. Out of Reach - Star Wars Uncertain Ways 1.17

3. Train Heist - The Book of Boba Fett

4. A Squidly Surpirse - Wizarding Twins

I hope you had a good 2022 too and are as excited for 2023 as I am!

Cheers

My entry for the Brickscalibur 2022 in the Farmstead Figures Category.

Another build! This one was actually built for Bricks Cascade 2020, but I finally got around to taking pictures of it after putting it off for awhile. The actual idea for this build has a fun story behind it, with its conception starting back at Bricks Cascade 2019. There's a bulk vendor who always comes, and as you might know from my haul pics from previous years, I frequent his tables. Last year there was this walkie-talkie part in this pile, and while I love collecting weird LEGO things I didn't want to get it since it was a heavier piece. However, he realized that nobody was going to buy it, and offered to give it to someone for free, provided they use it in a build. Aaron Van Cleave snapped it up, but when I said I had an idea for how it could be used, he gave it to me. This was that idea (my first, I still have another idea for using this piece in a build...), with the antenna part used for the main gun here.

Overall I'm fairly happy with how this turned out. While the body isn't great I don't think it's too bad considering how large the walkie-talkie was that I had to cover up. I love what I was able to come up with for the legs, and I might end up trying to use them again with a better body section. Anyway, hope you like it!

I made this moving PacMan display that uses inter channel figures. The actual IDEA project page has gifs that show the moving of the figures in the build. The movement is done with a manual crank on the side of the stand which can be seen on other images in the project. The ghost figures on the stand are interchangeable with the figures you see on the side.

Welcome my fellow zombies, vampiric royalty and monstrous beasts,

I am glad you all have found your way to this rather remote place. I took even me several hours to find this splendid little castle in this giant forest and I just visited it yesterday. I think the struggle was quite worth it, though as this is the perfect location for our little Halloween celebration, hosted by Mr. Grievous and me. I hope you enjoy the decorations and treats. It wasn’t even too hard to get it to look like this, as much of the decoration came with the place, when I bought it. The skeletons for example have not been altered or moved and most of the, admittedly large, spiders around here are actually alive and well. In addition Mr. Grievous managed to acquire a surprisingly lively set of furniture, to give the look the finishing touch and is eager to meet you in the library, where he will have a little horror literature reading session. Now, enjoy the pumpkin spice lattes and liquorish treats as well as our very special blood red punch, about which’s ingredients I can only speculate.

Have a happy Halloween, everyone!

It’s new years eve again already, so, as tradition demands, it is time to take a look at the year passed. I think I speak for everyone, if I say this year has been more than weird. Social distancing and lockdown has challenged our ways of living and brought many uncertainties. Yet, I think I had a huge amount of personal growth this year. I had to make some hard decisions in my social life, with friendships ending and people disappearing from my life for good. But with every door that closes, a new one opens. I made new friends and developed more confidence than I had before. Lego wise, this year has been a blast! I participated in more collabs and contest than ever before and made a ton of friends along the way! I feel like I am more and more finding my own unique building style and this year’s builds are probably among the best I did so far. Overall, I posted 80 photos of 37 builds I created. That makes 2020 one of my most productive years, yet!

Here’s to 2021, a year that will hopefully not only get us back to a normal life, but let’s us be united by the experiences of 2020 and the bonds we formed from a distance!

Cheers,

Fabian (aka. Ordo)

This model is my Porsche 918 LEGO replica. It features custom taillights and wheelcaps to reassemble the Porsche 918 iconic wheels. It’s build out of roughly 1000 LEGO pieces, is about 30 cm in length and weights about 1kg.

The design:

Tmodel I already designed and shown before a couple months ago. However this version features a dark brown interior and has a small change to the rear.

.

.

.

About the small change:

If you can notice I put the sides of the rear 0,5 plates down to make it align perfectly with the bodywork and make the top be able to feature a wedge part. The rear now has an even better curved and shaped 🍑😜

.

.

.

What is your favorite feature from this Porsche 918 lego replica?

In the 1980s much weird folk roamed the streets of the USA, but some stood out even in that candy-colored time. Those were the heroes and villains known as the Mighty Misfits!

Beakon

Did you ever hear a pecking noise on your roof at night? It might be a giant yellow bird-ish man, known as Beakon! Aspiring to be a signal of hope for men and birds alike, Beakon hops from roof to roof to catch burglars, cats and other scum before they can hurt one more feathery friend!

Which part of him is man and which is bird could not yet be determined, however.

Cabbage Man

One day, Cabbage Man was sick of the food culture he saw around him. Everyone was turning vegetarian! No one, except Cabbage Man, seemed to understand that vegetables are so much more suited for fighting crime than eating them! So he geared up, packed his greens, and went out on the streets, always equipped with the freshest, healthiest food - to throw it at the bad guys!

Sometimes, it was debated whether he should rather be called Lettuce Man, and due to his philosophy of never giving interviews, the matter could never be settled, leaving the newspapers in despair.

Wicked Wingspan

Not your usual crazy scientist with the awesome tech, Wicked Wingspan is not actually able to fly. His suit is just that fancy - and includes invisible stilts (he found at a dumpster one day). Also, his master plan to spray everyone around with bronzer never quite works out, because he can’t seem to figure out how to get it under people’s clothes. But he really believes in it, and one day he will find the actual scientist with the knowledge to help him get it done!

The Moist Menace

Breaking onto the crime fighting scene as a three-eyed fish with dangerous … water guns, I guess? …, The Moist Menace fights crime not out of moral conviction, but because he wants to be the only villain in town! That’s right, the guy is part of the team of heroes only as long as the crazy dude with the flappy wings is history. Everybody knows that for he never tires to claim superiority of his evil creativity over Wicked Wingspan’s. However, no one quite beliefs it or simply doesn’t care. Once, it was rumored that Menace’s secret identity was an actual person, but it seems pretty obvious that he is just a fish with the usual two eyes.

Princess Candypop

Nobody ever looked that sweet when fighting crime! Princess Candypop may strike some as just a usual young woman, but with a piece of her special cherry gummy candy, she develops super human strength and shining purple eyes in an instant! And what better to do with this power than make the world a happier place! Ironically, the crime rate apparently has risen since Princess Candypop appeared on the streets, because many young men yearn for a chance to meet this lovely young lady, even if that means breaking the law.

Here are my 80s-inspired Heroes and Villains for the third round of the figbarfcentral tournament! These figures were a lot of fun to make! Also big thanks to my friend Mr. Grievous for writing part of the story!

On the backside of the magic wall, the twins emerged onto the actual train platform. Waiting for them was the Hogwarts Express, a fiery red steam train, puffing out white steam that made your sight blur. The whole platform was crowded with kids, parents, owls and magical pets of all kind, hurriedly loading luggage onto the trains wagons. The two were about to run off into the crowd, when their mother and Mr. Copperbottom appeared, just in time to hold them back. Mrs. Honeycutt had spent more than enough time looking for the twins in crowded places like shopping centers, zoos and amusement parks, since they had a natural talent from evading ones line of sight, no matter how much one kept an eye on them. She figured, looking for them in a magical place like this would prove even harder, so she kept her hands on their shoulders, until they had reached the door of one of the train wagons. The twins turned to their mother. „Now, it seems I can’t keep these from you any longer.“ She fetched their wands from her purse and held them out. The twins wanted to grab them, but she drew them back for a second. „Promise you won’t cause any trouble with them?“ „Yes, of course!“ „Trouble? Us? We’d never…“ Adrian answered with an innocent smile. Mrs. Honeycutt raised an eyebrow and gave him a cheeky smile. The Twin’s hands finally enclosed the wood of the wands. „I love you.“ Mrs. Honeycutt said, giving them a kiss on the forehead. „We love you too, mom.“ they answered. Mr. Copperbottom hauled the last suitcase onto the train, just as it slowly started moving. The twins waved their hands as the train vanished into the distance. Their mother held her smile until they were out of sight, but then wiped a few tears from her eyes. „They’ll be fine.“ Mr. Copperbottom said reassuringly and handed her a handkerchief. „I know.“ Mrs. Honeycutt answered and they turned back to the magical wall, which led back to the Muggle world.

Finally aboard the train, the twins couldn’t sit still for a second. Since no-one was there to stop them, they quickly unpacked all of their magical equipment from their recent shopping tour. Soon, the whole compartment was cluttered with quills, boilers, books and clothes as well as crumbs of cookies, which they had brought as snacks and equally distributed between themselves and Harold, their new pet owl, who was happily cooing about. Soon however, their belongings had been properly inspected and loosely thrown back into their cases. Of course, the idea of trying out their wands lay at hand, but a few unsuccessful attempts prove that there was more to magic than just swinging a stick of wood around and the twins were back to boredom. The journey prove to be longer than expected. Thus, Adrian suddenly got up and proposed a discovery tour through the train wagon, an idea that instantly won Abby’s approval. Leaving Harold to watch the luggage, the two of them slipped out of their compartment and started peeking through the windows of the neighboring ones. Earning nothing more than a few irritated looks and rejecting hand gestures at the first few, they finally struck gold at the rear of the wagon. Behind the thin glass that separated the compartment from the corridor was a dense, bright green jungle of hundreds of plants. Adrian almost hadn’t noticed the boy sitting amidst the greenery, had he not cursed loudly as he cut his finger on the scissors he was trimming a particularly green plant’s leaves with. Abby slowly opened the door of the compartment and warm, misty air hit her face. She carefully tip toed her way through the forest of plants in all kinds of pots and jars that covered the floor. „Careful or the the snake tendril will catch you.“ Abby looked up and saw the boy with the scissors point to her left leg, which a thin, bright green branch of a plant was slowly moving towards. Abby brought her leg out of reach of the plant. „Why do you have all these plants with you?“ Adrian asked, admiring the greenery that spread through the compartment. „Ah…“ the boy sighed, „Now that I’m going to Hogwarts, my parents are traveling the worlds and my mother can’t take her greenhouse with her. She told me to give the plants to Professor Sprout, when I arrive.“ He took a look through the compartment. „Though, I have no idea how to even get all of them out of the compartment, let alone the train, on my own.“ „We can help!“ Abby chimed instantly. „I’m Abby by the way and this is my brother Adrian.“ The boy’s face lit up. „That would be awesome! Together we can do it! Oh, and my name is Liam.“ He got up from his seat. „Now, I’m no expert, but there are some plants my mom warned me to be careful with, the Razor Lily for example…“ he went on to explain several plants to them, some of which sounded more dangerous than even the most notorious beasts of prey, as he casually handed them over to the twins. Abby listened to him with utmost curiosity, while Adrian did admire the plants, but cared little for what their story was. By the time they arrived at Hogwarts, Abby had gained quite a substantial knowledge of magical flora. After changing into their new school uniforms, the trio made their way onto the platform at Hogsmeade, packed to the brim with pots and jars. Gladly, they were soon relived of their photosynthetic luggage by Professor Sprout, the teacher for herbology, who had been informed by Liam’s mother of the plants arrival. Glad to be freed of the plants, that, as Adrian swore, even had grown in the short time they had carried them, the three of them made their way to a tall, bearded man in a brown coat. He introduced himself to them as Hagrid and led them to the shore of a lake, where a few boats were towed. They occupied one of them and thus took yet another step towards Hogwarts, which awaited on the opposite side of the lake.

There are many stories revolving around spectacular robberies of trains and post carriages from the old days of wild west. Some of them are more convoluted than others, though, like the story of John „Dandy“ Slim, the notorious gunslinger and ladies man. „Dandy“ Slim had committed various dreadful crimes before his final heist. Robbing banks and carriages, stealing horses, cattle and gold, he had always been one step ahead of the authorities and close to the women’s hearts. This might sound strange, but most women liked him, for he showed their husbands that they were not all mighty and often embarrassed them with his extraordinarily spectacular and effective ways of taking their gold and money away. For what should be his final heist, he had apparently chosen a National Bank gold transfer headed for the west coast. Ladden with gold, diamonds and finest whisky, this transport was worth a fortune and would guarantee any robber a luxurious life style for the rest of his days. Sherif Richard Montgomery Barns was sent out to keep the fright save. He had gotten word of Slim’s planned heist and hid with his men aboard the train. Slim and his associates were quickly outnumbered and taken into custody. They should have been transferred to a prison at the west coats upon the trains arrival, however, shortly after their capture the train was forced to stop because of damaged train tracks. Since the ranch of Alistor Cray, a wealthy landlord, was nearby, the Sherif decided to lock away Slim and his gang in there until they could continue their journey. Guards were posted all around the ranch and Slim was locked away as securely as possible. Yet, the next day no trace of him or the gold could be found. All doors were still locked and the guards couldn’t remember a thing. The case remained a mystery for a long time, as the sherif and landlord wondered what outside force could have managed to pull this off. The truth was only discovered months later, when landlord Cray’s wife disappeared, leaving a letter for her flabbergasted husband. She had fallen madly in love with „Dandy“ Slim and run away to reunite with him. The day of the robbery, she damaged the tracks, given the guards poisoned whisky and opened the locks for Slim and his gang, just as they had planned. Locking everything again afterwards, she had stayed behind to not draw any attention. After her letter was submitted to the authorities, a massive search for her and Slim was started, but they were never found. Some say they fled to Europe, some say to the far East, some say to Russia, but they all agree that they had fled to a better life, being blessed with endless amounts of money and true love for each other.

The first and probably my favorite detail shot of my recent Takumi Chicken & Veggie vignette.

My updated custom pirate AAT tank, built for our @darktimesgroup Antolus l collab displayed at @_bricktastic 2024.

The story takes place in the early days of the Empire, and pirates take over some Trade Federation equipment, which they are using against the Empire.

I wanted to include as many of my own vehicle builds to this collaboration as possible, so I definitely wanted to use my existing AAT(s). As most people like it more and it fits the aesthetic of the collab better, we decided to use the tan, Trade Federation version.

The plan was to convert the clean original vehicle to a more weathered, older looking model, modified by the pirates. Since I only had the CIS colored version built before (2 of that), I had to build it from the ground up, based on my instructions.

There was some places tho, which I wasn’t happy with or felt outdated. So before actual building I changed parts in the design, like the main barrel and it’s attachment point, the side guns and also the big bottom dish part. Now I’m really happy with the whole design, more on that later…

Weathering and making the small additions was also really fun. I had some real military photos in mind as inspiration, like the machine gun on top at the hatch, the bags hanging on the turret, the rollbars and additional armor plates.

Seems Mr. Johnson got himself a side job as a model. Featured in my recent fig-off.

Another detail shot of my recent Takumi Chicken & Veggie vignette.

Another picture of my latest creation

A detail shot, showing off the background of my latest vignette without figures.

The water splashed gently against the side of the boat, as it slowly crossed the lake, steered by an invisible force. With the view still obscured by trees, the twins and Liam turned their eyes to the surface of the water. It was a starry, windstill night and so the water was twinkling with the reflection of a thousand stars and a shiny full moon. Small fireflies were darting across the lake and added to the spectacle of lights. The scene was so serene that for a moment Abby feared, the whole thing might be a dream after all. The next thing however, occupied her thoughts entirely. The boats emerged from the small delta where they had started onto the bigger part of the lake and there it was: Hogwarts. Towering high over the lake was a castle with a hundred spires and at least a thousand illuminated windows. All of the kids gasped in unison and Hagrid chuckled, when he saw their excited, open mouthed faces. „Adrian, look! Isn’t that amazing?“ Abby rejoiced, grabbing her brother by the shoulder. But Adrian wasn’t looking at the castle at all, he was leaning over the side of the boat, toying with what looked like a tree branch swimming in the water. But as she watched him, she saw that it wasn’t a tree branch at all. It was… moving. Next thing she knew, Adrian had grabbed onto the thing and his feet were lifted off the boat into the air. Abby gasped and the boats came to a halt, as Hagrid raised his hand. Abby looked around for her brother. „Up here, Abby!“ She looked up. Several meters above them, Adrian, with a big smile on his face, was hanging on to a red column, which Abby now identified as the suction cup covered tentacles of a giant squid. “Nothing to worry about.” Hagrid called as some of the kids screamed in surprise. “He’s just been a bit lonely over the holidays.” And in fact Adrian didn’t seem to be in danger. His face still beaming, he tickled the tentacle and earned a gentle ruffle of his hair as a reward. „Stop, that tickles!“ he laughed, still not stopping either. Abby and Liam watched, half amused, half scared, as Hagrid’s boat came over to them. „Alright, let’s get you back into the boat.“ Hagrid said and reached out for Adrian. The squid, understanding him apparently, lowered his tentacle until Adrian found himself safely in Hagrid’s arms and then back in their boat. „He seems to like you.“ Hagrid chucked, apparently not at all phased by the fact that Adrian could have fallen into the lake and potentially drowned and he gave the squid a gentle pat on the tentacle, before it disappeared into the water again. Back in the boat Adrian wat greeted enthusiastically by Abby and Liam. „That was the coolest thing ever!“ Liam exclaimed, looking at him with awe. „I know right!“ Adrian smirked. Then he tilted his head slightly to look beyond their gleaming faces, frowned for a second and added “Ah, well, I guess the castle is alright, too.” The whole boat broke out in laughter and they continued their journey towards their new magical home.

Merry Christmas everyone! I had this little vignette prepared for almost a year (or even longer even) and thought, what better day for a Harry Potter build to be uploaded than Christmas day? I hope you all enjoy the holidays with your loved ones, eat a lot of good food and get some cool presents.

previous part

After revealing to the twins that they were wizards, Mr. Copperbottom had been forced to stay at the Honeycutts’ home until far after midnight. The twins and their, still very confused, mother had become a bubbling well of questions about the wizarding world. He tried to answer each question as thoroughly as possible and might have had the chance to leave after tea, if Mr. Honeycutt hadn’t come home early, starting the chain of questions and explanations anew. After promising a dozen times to come back soon and leaving an address for the them to send an owl to (a comment that started another series of questions about communication in the wizarding world), Mr. Copperbottom was finally released and visibly exhausted made his way to the garden gate, where he disappears with yet another plopping noise. The twins stayed up late that night, not wanting to sleep, as they feared it could only have been a dream and they’d wake up as ordinary children again. But in the morning there were still two big letters lying on the kitchen table and the white rabbit which Mr. Copperbottom had summoned to prove his magic to Mr. Honeycutt was nibbling on a bunch of carrots on the countertop.

Two weeks passed and the twins spent every waking minute reading the letters from Hogwarts over and over again, until the parchment became dangerously fragile, so their mother took it away. Of course, by then, they already knew the letters by heart and imagined what the wonderful items on the material list could be and where in the world they could buy them. Dragon skin gloves, a wand and many other things certainly didn’t sound like they were sold in a supermarket. The answer came in form of Mr. Copperbottom, who appeared one late July morning to take them to Diagon Alley, a magical shopping street in the heart of London. He led the family to an old pub, for which the word shady would have been a compliment. At that point Mrs. Honeycutt seriously worried, whether they’d just fallen for a very elaborate prank. Inside dozens of witches and wizards were sitting around small tables with the weirdest foods and drinks in front of them. The family proceeded to an old cobblestone wall, which promptly gave way to the most amazing thing the twins had ever laid eyes on. Diagon Alley was truly a place of wonder, filled with every weird item one could imagine. There were shops for enchanted clothing, potions and ingredients, wands, Quidditch supplies (whatever that was), spell books and candy that smelled of four flavors at once. And so began the best shopping tour of all time. Soon, their mother’s pockets were empty and the twins were laden with their school gear, including a cauldron, quills, books and their school uniforms. Probably the most important new acquires were their wands, necessary for casting spells of all forms. As a matter of precaution, they were immediately taken away by their mother to be safely stored until their departure for Hogwarts, since she knew all too well about her children’s talent for destruction, even without any magic catalyst. Now, there was only one item left on the list and it was the one the twins were most excited for, a magic pet! Even before Mr. Copperbottom could point it out, Adrian had found the closet pet shop, appropriately called The Wicked Menagerie. In front of it, dozens of large and small cages were stacked up and inside them were the weirdest animals the twins had ever seen. While some of them barely fit into their cages, stretching their claws out between the bars, other cages seemed to be empty and only emitted an ominous hissing sound. Inside birds were tweeting, dogs barking, lizards clapped their tails against their cages and on the roof beams owls were melodically shu-hoo-ing. „I bet I can find the coolest animal of all!“ Adrian said. „You wish!“ Abby returned in a more than competitive spirit and they both sprinted into the labyrinth of cages and terrariums. Adrian sprinted along the cages. There were pink spotted Dalmatians, translucent birds, six legged hamsters and even something that looked like a cat with feathers. Suddenly he tripped over something that felt like an oversized garden hose. He fell flat on his face. As he looked up, he saw that there were parts of this garden hose all over the floor and they were… moving? Now, this was cool!

Mr. Copperbottom had just talked to Mrs. Honeycutt and reassured her that all of the animals sold here were absolutely harmless and she should not worry about her children. Apparently she wasn’t worried about them and only voiced her concerns about the safety of the shop itself. Just as he started wondering about what she could mean by that, a giant tropical snake broke from the first floor window, winding itself around the building, its emerald scales shimmering in the sunlight. Relaxingly dangling on one arm from its body was Adrian Honeycutt, grinning at his sister from ear to ear. „Look, Abby, I made a new friend!“

I finally got some photos of this orc. It is loosely based on Grommash Hellscream from World of Warcraft (of which I have honestly never played- but orcs are awesome regardless). Someday if I ever have the finances to justify buying all the necessary parts I'll build out his full body, but for now this is a bust of an orc. I used my technique of putting the mini-fig eyeball heads in helmets upside down to achieve the intense eyes of this beast and a vast majority of parts came from the LEGO t-rex Jurassic Park set. I have come to absolutely love dark tan as a color through this build. It is my most stable build to date and is pretty robust throughout. I hope you like this orc.

I was pondering for a long time on which space theme to build for this. SHIPtember consumed all of my remaining black parts that would have been useful for this. I've had the cockpit idea on my table scraps shelf for a while, waiting to be used. Since I've been trying to work through my WIPs/Table scraps from years past, currently completed at least 2 so far. However i think 7 WIPs have been added on-top of my existing pile... woops. There is just too much fun to be had. Happy building!

If you enjoy this, please consider adding the main photo as a favorite as well. Main photo and backstory of the character: www.flickr.com/photos/188464565@N06/50001985476/in/pool-1...

I have to say, capturing a character is a challenge in itself, but the 200 piece count mandate was brutal on this one. I am proud of the result and will likely create a second version without the part limitation.

That said, enjoy the various poses the Mistress is capable of. They all submit eventually.
