12/52: Project 52 - Take one image as you would normally and then take a second, of the same subject, but use a different perspective or technique. Post both images and tell us which one you prefer and why.

Since the theme for Macro Monday this week was ICM, I thought I would continue with that theme and use ICM for my second photo for this theme too. Rather than flood my photostream with more photos than necessary I decided on a diptych to showcase both photos at once.

I prefer the lefthand image because of the cleaner, whiter background. I guess because I used the ND filter on the ICM image the background looks more grey.

We went for a drive yesterday afternoon for some peace of mind in relation to a nearby wildlife that started on Saturday. Instead, we came across a new wildfire burning about 8 miles from our home referred to as the Lefthand Canyon fire. Colorado has had its share of devastating wildfires this year, and many of them have been human caused (the latest two are still under investigation but no lighning strikes in the area). We returned last night to see how the firefighting efforts were going. Aerial operations and a little bit of moisture have helped some. Thanks to all the firefighters protecting our mountain communities. We are forever grateful for your bravery.

Have a great week!

Almost ran this snake over driving back from my hike up Mount Audubon. It was HUGE, I would say at least 7 feet long. Biggest snake I've seen in the wild.

Amazing building the Elbphilharmonie concert hall in the Hafen City area of Hamburg. Free tickets to go up via the curved escalators to the walkway which is at the top of the brickwork. Don't try and go on a weekend or after 11am, go first thing when it opens and you will enjoy the views and beauty of the building without all the crowds that arrive by the coach load !! You can pre book your tickets as well on-line in advance, for a small admin fee.

Just visible are some window/panel cleaners suspended on ropes on the righthand side half way up. A few days later we visited the other side and the window cleaners were on the lefthand side, but it was pretty windy so rather them than me doing that job.

Taken last week at Tollesbury Marina in Essex during a rather flat sunrise with barely any cloud to mention. The sky was very very orange that morning and caught the wet mud which reflected it rather nicely. Compositionally i like this image with the curving low tide mud rivlet acting as a wonderful leading line from the bottom lefthand corner into the centre of the glowing sunrise.

You know those moments when life gets super stressful. But you manage to make everything out. And life magically works in your favour. I'm in that boat right now. I can also say I have a print give away in the works. I think it'll be happening closer to the new year. I'm putting a few prints in a gallery for the Holidays, and I plan on giving 1 or 2 prints from that. Best part they'll be framed :O Something i didn't think I would do.

Thank you for all being wonderful. For supporting me and constantly motivating me. I feel like I haven't been producing what I want. But it was nice to just get out, enjoy myself, that a self-portrait. And just let myself go. Also you can see my city in the bottom lefthand corner.

Here is to a new week. You are all fantastic!

Haifoss waterfall in Iceland.

If you look closely at the details on the bottom lefthand side, you might be surprised to understand the scale.

Tantalizingly executing her famous "You sweet THANG!" pose as seen in print ads, magazines, telly adverts & such

In the upper lefthand corner is the silhouette of an Ibis flying by.

No special treatment. Grass lefthand in the shadows, grass on the right still in sunshine

Notice the slightly UFO looking item in the lefthand lower third section of the photo.

The shot was taken on the way from Oslo to Tromso and I looked out of the window and saw this odd shape like a missile with a tail fin but a gap in the middle pointing downwards at 45 degrees. {You may need to view this large rather than a phone.}

I have not added or altered anything in Photoshop here, this is straight out of the iPhone but put through LightRoom.

Guess it might be a section of mountain sticking up in the sun but it looks clear underneath and seems up with the clouds rather than mountain top.

Or is it some dense cloud but all the other clouds are much less dense?

Any ideas folks?

- An eight is a rowing boat used in the sport of competitive rowing. It is designed for eight rowers, who propel the boat with sweep oars, and is steered by a coxswain, or "cox".

Each of the eight rowers has one oar. There are four rowers on the port side (rower's right hand side) and four on the starboard side (rower's lefthand side). The cox steers the boat using a rudder and is normally seated at the stern of the boat.

- Rowing club De Compagnie was founded in 2007. Club- and boathouse are at the bank of the canal 'Hoogeveense Vaart' in Nijstad, near Hoogeveen, Drenthe, The Netherlands.

- De Hoogeveense Roeivereniging De Compagnie is opgericht in 2007. Het clubgebouw en de botenloods bevinden zich meteen achter de brug tussen Nijstad en Echten, langs de Hoogeveense Vaart.

Hintersee is Majestic located near Ramsau on the border of the Berchtesgaden National Park with Mount Hochkalter in the lefthand side background. It is the2,606 m high. It is the third highest in the Berchtesgaden Alps. On 24 August 1908 the summit of the Hochkalter came crashing down and changed the appearance and height of the peak markedly. The volume of rock broken off is estimated at 240,000 m³. The rock fall was felt in the Ramsau valley as an earthquake.

The Platinum Asteroid Collector - Manned Auxiliary Node, was deployed alongside the massive mining ships of Classic Space. It was used to collect small, high value chunks of rock, typically containing platinum and other precious metals. These would normally have been too small for the base ship to bother with.

Known to its crews as the PAC-MAN, the ship was painted bright yellow in order for it to be easily visible to the operators of the high-powered mining lasers on the base ship. The PAC-MAN, had a crew of two. A green-suited pilot/driver on the righthand/starboard side (naturally) and a red-suited systems operator on the lefthand/port side. The ship could blast asteroids apart with its retractable mining laser and then scoop the fragments into its "mouth". The systems operator also had a small drone at his disposal, for inspecting potential space rocks.

The PAC-MAN ships proved to be reliable and popular with their crews. The became a common sight asteroid belts across the galaxy. This popularity was further cemented by the creation of a computer game, featuring a stylised version of the spaceship.

Thank you to Magma, for the inspiration to build the white asteroid. It's made only using 1x1 2-stud SNOT bricks, 1x1, 1x3 and jumper plates.

They are best known for their brilliant yellow flowers that appear in profusion in Spring and stand out among the forest greenery. We love to have kōwhai in our gardens. Kōwhai imagery is popular in art works and has been used on postage stamps and coins.

after a couple of sunny warm days..all has changed again

wishing you All a great weekend

Same framing and process as a week ago, but this time I shot 20 x 30 second subs from some better Bortle 3 skies, and NEOWISE was about 15 degrees above the horizon, which made a big difference - the background sky gradient was less severe, the green color of the nucleus is showing and there are more stars (and spiral galaxy NGC 3198, 6.5 arc min long with a visual mag. of 10.3 is just visible in the upper lefthand corner).

Acquisition details: Fujifilm X-T10, Samyang 135mm f/2.0 ED UMC @ f2.0, ISO 1600, 20 x 30 sec, tracking with iOptron SkyTracker Pro, stacking with DeepSkyStacker, editing with Astro Pixel Processor and GIMP, taken July 20, 2020 from Bortle 3 skies at 11:00 pm Pacific (the beginning of astronomic dark).

Another ornate facade that front onto the Grand Place in the historic heart of Brussels, lit by some early evening light.

The more observant of you may have spotted this is actually a 'flipped' shot, i.e. mirrored down the centre, the giveaway being the text on the lefthand half of the image.

I visited two years ago for a long photo weekend as one of two trips I won after winning a photo competition for images taken during a Trey Ratcliff photowalk in London the previous Autumn. It sounds glamorous (sort of.....) but actually the prize consisted of two Flixbus return tickets to anywhere in Europe. As my wife is allergic to coach travel I chose to visit Brussels and Rotterdam. They seemed obvious choices as I wasn't keen on spending say 36hrs on a coach to say Prague.......

From Wikipedia : "The Grand Place ("Grand Square"; also used in English) or Grote Markt "Grand Market") is the central square of Brussels, Belgium. It is surrounded by opulent guildhalls and two larger edifices, the city's Town Hall, and the King's House or Breadhouse (French: Maison du Roi, Dutch: Broodhuis) building containing the Brussels City Museum. The square measures 68 by 110 metres (223 by 361 ft).

The Grand Place is the most important tourist destination and most memorable landmark in Brussels. It is also considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998."

Sort of following on from my previous photograph at Polzeath, you know the one where I cosmetically rearranged my derriere whilst using it as a makeshift (I said shift not !) braking device scrambling down over rocks to stop myself taking an unplanned swim.

Well during my rather speedy decent I was aware of a pink blur to my lefthand side and before you ask, no I had not been consuming my thinking juice that is aged in oak barrels, as I was driving.

The pink was in fact clumps of thrift just coming into bloom across the bay from this location. These delicate little flowers are always such a spectacle on our cliffs at this time of the year. It is so sad that they are short lived, but that is the ever evolving process of nature I suppose.

So what better excuse for a return visit to try and capture this delightful annual event a few nights later.

I will leave you with this thought for the weekend, If plan ‘A’ fails, don’t get stressed, there are 25 more letters in the alphabet

Thank you for viewing my images, the comments and banter you leave are so appreciated 🍺🍺🍺🍷🍷🍷😎😂😂😂.

The sport of speedway is not unlike American flat-track racing except that the racers are held on short, lefthand, oval courses of cinders, dirt or grass. The bikes, like this one, need no brakes, but are capable of fantastic acceleration over very short distances. Restoration by Craig Lane, Performance Cycles, Dundee, N.Y.
