It's not easy being 10... and 40... at the same time, in the same body.
Forty just wants to get her work done... meet her deadlines... pay the bills.
Ten... of course... wants to go out and play. It's a never ending struggle.
They both wanted to do this pic... In fact, they've wanted to do it for ages, but 40's been too busy working. They got some time to themselves this afternoon, and 10 totally insisted.
Then 40 started getting all bogged down in editing... trying to make the pic look better.
But 10 stepped in and said... We're running out of time! The sun's going down... the dog needs a walk... and we have a dinner to go to tonight.
So... yeah. Pretty messy. But hey. That's what you get when you trust these things to a 10-year old.
First of all, I want to thank you all for the kind comments and favs I receive(d) on my photos, really appreciate it a lot ;-)
The reason for this darkish Thursdayface is, that I will be operated on my righthand today and will not be able to use it for a little while, only one hand left ... and indeed that is my lefthand ;-) So I have to slow down......and only can upload older photos....but it will be alright soon ;-))

I was so happy to see this bird in my downloads (2016.. time flies ;-) but I never felt it was complete. Originally it was almost hitting the lefthand edge... I gave it a bit more space... allowed the wind to blow by adding icm clouds into the mix. Yet it still feels lacking to me. Maybe one day it'll fly into another image. However for now.. a companion for winter.. or a cool wave if you're in summer :-)

Marvelously bright weather in Kuala Lumpur this morning with azure blue skies and those great fluffy Cumulus Clouds. The Sun's Bright Light today caused the natural phenomenon of a Blue Shadow which can sometimes also be seen in very cold climes with a bright Winter sun on amazingly white snow. Usually, of course, shadows are Black.
This Dragonfly's Blue Shadow is not caused by its own Indigo Color. Rather the Very White Sunlight is blocked by Trithemis and the shadow is 'colored' by indirect light and the Blue from the Azure Sky. If you look carefully, you can see the same kind of Blue edging the non-Dragonfly shadow in the lower lefthand corner of this photo.
This, by the way, is Indigo Dropwing, Trithemis festiva; it has other names as well, for example, Black Stream Glider, because often it appears more black or dark purple in less bright weather. Sony came upon it along the little stream that runs through the Heliconia Garden of the Lake Gardens, Taman Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur.
As you leave ullapool and travel north you quickly come to Ardmair bay. Now on the lefthand side of the road there is a hill with a big mast at the top. Climb up there and you will be able to see in 4 different directions some marvelous views, this being one.

Sheep Mountain, north of Greybull Wyoming, is a highly dissected anticline. At it center lies a prominent 15 mile long ridge which corresponds to the double plunging anticline’s crest. The photo shows the southwest end of the canyon cut by Bighorn River through the anticline’s core about 1/3 of the way along the ridge from its north end. Sheep Mountain Canyon measures about a 1,000 feet deep at its maximum. Because of the afternoon shadow in the photo, it is hard to see the railroad tracks that run along the river’s west bank through the canyon. The Mississippian Madison Limestone makes up most of the cliffs in the photo above. The Pennsylvanian Amsden and Tensleep Sandstone overlie the Madison as seen in the upper lefthand corner of the photo. The Sheep Mountain anticline is a Laramide fold that formed along buried back thrust faults. This view shows the southwest limb of the fold. The northeast limb is steeper.

Took my Nissan Pathfinder up to Lefthand Reservoir and found the winds screaming across the water and the clouds racing over the mountains. Elevation is about 10,600 ft. so we're right on the treeline. We retreated to a lower trail out of the wind for an enjoyable hike!

Located El Valecitos, Baja California
The red cast iron “Donald’s Quay Light” on the River Clyde at old Kilpatrick in West Dunbartonshire was erected in the 19th century to indicate to shipping, a difficult bend on the River. The quay now dismantled, was used at one time by shipping for the unloading of coal that was then transferred to barges waiting on the nearby Forth and Clyde canal. In the lefthand distance can be seen the 14th Century Dunglass Castle (circa 1380) and the Henry Bell (1767- 1830) Obelisk, he was a Scottish Engineer who helped in developing the Steamship. Then farther behind them sits the famous Dumbarton Rock. Just a little bit of the history of this World famous river.

Just to let you all know this is not me in the photo in the background i am out of the frame on the lefthand side. He is a professional photographer i met by chance on his day off. We took some shots of this Red Bull mini which recently parked up outside this barbers and we then had a long interesting talk standing near the window. So a must for some more reflections images i said so when he started taking some i spontaneously joined in . Then this guy with his back to us waiting for a haircut suddenly turned to see this man i met taking photos, our shutters buttons both pressed as seconds later he turned back to face the next cut .

A horrific collision of extended drought, low humidity, high winds, and an unknown ignition source led to this maelstrom of fire and smoke on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Named the Calwood fire for the geographic location nearest its ignition point, this conflagration burned rapidly through over 7500 acres (3000 ha, 12 square miles) in around 3 hours, ending its terrible trip for the day with the destruction of 26 homes near the base of the mountains. Thankfully no one was injured or killed, though when I took this picture I was convinced it had gone through one of the mountain towns (Jamestown) without much warning, and feared far more damage had been done. Fortunately the fire had gone north of Jamestown through mostly uninhabited areas. The march across the landscape featured pillars of fire as stands of pines exploded, multiple fire vortexes and spiraling smoke clouds, generation of pyrocumulus clouds, and a fascinating diversity of smoke cloud shapes and colors. For scale the core of the fire is 7 miles (11 km) away from where this photo was taken.
Yes indeed, it is likely one could attribute this fire to climate change associated with the long drought we’ve had, yet fire is a major part of this landscape, and droughts occur in La Niña years such as the one we are experiencing. Fires can occur in the fall, but they require an idiot to start them as lightning is usually absent at this time of year. A much larger fire to the north (Cameron Peak fire) has been burning since August, and has now consumed 206,000 acres (83,000 ha, 322 sq miles). A smaller fire (Lefthand Canyon fire) that started the day after the Calwood fire has consumed 460 acres and threatens the Mountain Research Station where I have worked for the past 31 years. All of these fires are negatively impacting the health of people downwind who breath the smoke and fine particulates from the fires. Of course parts of California are experiencing even greater impacts from larger, more frightening fires that have been going on much of the late summer and early fall as well.
I guess most of you would have recognised the Frankfurt skyline. But you may not be familiar with traffic signs on waterways… I didn’t see it in first place, too… The sign on the lefthand side of the bridge tells you that this part of the waterway is closed in this direction. Those signs on the other side indicate that your are only allowed to go through there and that there is no traffic coming from the other side. Well so far it’s nothing special but if you take a look on the skyline it seems that you are only allowed to go into the financial district and you don’t have to worry about anyone or anything going in the opposite direction :D As if there wouldn’t be any critics around… furthermore you must not go to church! I leave the rest of the interpretation with you…

The Holy Loch is a sea loch, a part of the Cowal peninsula coast of the Firth of Clyde, in west Scotland. The name “Holy Loch” is believed to date from the 6th century, when Saint Munn landed there after leaving Ireland. Kilmun Parish Church and Argyll Mausoleum are said to stand where Saint Munn’s church was once located. During World War II, the loch was used as a British Royal Navy submarine base. From 1961–1992, it was used as a United States Navy Polaris and Poseidon nuclear submarine base. On the lefthand side of this photo is the Western Ferries Hunter’s Quay terminal, and over on the right is the village of Kilmun, both guarding the entrance to the misty loch with the beautiful Argyll mountains in the background.
