CSX 3110 and 5410 lead Q409 off Iona Island, viewed from the South Ledges at the base of Dunderberg Mountain.

Crackington is a small bay in Cornwall the tide was on the ebb unfortunately still managed to fill my wellies with sea water.

The rising tide comes in quickly best to take this shot on the ebb.

Fine-grained bedrock, near terminus of Franz Josef Glacier, New Zealand. This glacier undergoes rapid advances and retreats; it's currently retreating rapidly. It's not clear when it last covered this rock, but it did a fine job of smoothing it off whenever that was.

I had some very good news at the end of last week - this image was Commended by the judges in the Take a View Landscape Photographer of the Year Competition 2011 and will appear in the book and also in the exhibition that runs at the National Theatre on the South Bank from 5th December 2011 until 28th January 2012. It is the first time I have entered this competition, or any competition to be honest, and also it was a very last minute decision to put anything in - and by that I mean that there was literally hours to go to the deadline when I decided to quickly dig through my pictures to find something. So I'm really pleased.

The shot was taken at the end of a walk (of course) and I got lucky because the tide was just right, as was the light although the clouds could have been kinder ;-).

As usual, I think it is better viewed on black.

Managed to get out last weekend with the camera for the first time in a few weeks, so headed for the coast.

After seeing this cracker from Graham Stirling - www.flickr.com/photos/grahamstirling/5264349880/in/contacts/, I was keen to checkout the area it was taken. I've shot down at Torness loads of times, but always near the Power Station itself rather than further along the coast.

Sure enough there are some great rock ledges exposed at lower tides, plus a superb rock that pokes out the water at low tide and looks like a shark's fin! Hopefully head back this weekend to try shooting that with the zoom.

A favourite spot of mine, out on the ledges at Whitburn, behind Souter lighthouse.

In the grand company of Alan & Ian, we had a perfect viewpoint to watch the sunset colours change across the sky.

Sea Weed over Kimmeridge Ledges

Catch the sun at the right time, and ledges on the beach light up beautifully.

Heading up to Northumberland this weekend and hope to get out on a shoot or two. Soooo looking forward to it.

I see that LR 4.1 has been released but disappointed to hear that the upload problem with Flickr has not been fixed.

After a day of shooting trains on the CN a few miles south, it was somewhat bewildering to find an SD75I leading Q335 with a CEFX SD40M-2 tucked behind it. The yard at Grand Ledge was full of stored cars at that time, mostly former Conrail boxcars awaiting eventual scrapping.

I am testing my wife new point and shoot Camera. Works pretty good to me.

view from 30th street and 7th avenue in New York City (NYC) looking south towards Chelsea and Jersey City. was trying to do a ledge theme however in the previous shot "fetish" it clearly takes away from the image. once i post something though and there are comments I don't change the image. i find the feedback very helpful.

Rising morning sun highlighting a small frosted rock ledge in the shadows of Hay Bluff. The large hill across the valley is Twmpa.

A favorite place for rock climbers this wall goes straight up for 700' and then curves at the top. Multiple people have died trying to climb this ledge.

Imagine (briefly), a place where even light dares not go.

Better Large

I found that as soon as I drove into the Valley of Fire, I was out of the vehicle with my head spinning around, oblivious to where I was walking, looking for my next shot.

Something Ledge Living on the cliff top.

My new RF 15-35mm is certainly a great lens, maybe i will manage to post something other than ships on here...

Only had it out a couple of times but it takes a good shot!

"L" looks amazing.

This was a cool shot with my very brave wife Jen going out to the edge! I don't think I would have been confident enough to do this. this shows a glimpse of the scale of the foreground of the grand canyon, let alone the background and the river below. Such amazing colours.
