Can I do the charleston? Yes, I can, it's the cat's meow.
Can I do dance poses?
More or less.

My young boy, four years old, is following a course for children in this gym of my hometown. We had an opportunity to visit the gym before Christmas, and I was amazed by the ability of the young ones training there.
Leonard: Why are you learning Chinese?
Sheldon: I believe the Szechuan Palace has been passing off orange chicken as tangerine chicken, and I intend to confront them.
Leonard: If I were you, I'd be more concerned about what they're passing off as chicken.

Do you remember my Pullip Kaela: Kaede? <3 lately I don't bond very well with her... for this reason I even put her up for adoption.... but in the end I decided to keep her and make a look change because after all she's a beautiful and special pullip for me ^__^ so here is the new Kaede! I hope you like her so much as me <33

The garbage truck beeps as it backs up
And I start my day thinking about what I’ve thrown away...

This shot really defined the moment when I realised that I needed to move on to the d7000 I have now. This otter was feeding close to shore and when I saw her heading in I had moments to get down behind some rocks and ready to shoot.
The light wasn't great and I was going to struggle at lower iso's - problem was on the camera I was using that adjustment was menu driven and I daren't look away or move too much so I had to shoot as things were.
If, and it's a pointless if, I'd had the d7000 a quick role of the wheel and the iso would have been on the up instantly.
If this had been sharp I reckon it would have been my favourite otter image - looks like something out of a cartoon. Don't get me wrong, still a great moment and magical experience and I'm grateful for that.
....oh and I think the latest lesson I've learned is that I need to spend far too much money, for me anyway, on a new lens!
Like a baby bird taking it's first flight... this is how I feel about SP's (it's terrifying). But thanks to the encouragement and inspiration from you guys, I keep trying. And I won't delete this one (I just have to keep telling myself that). :-)

“When you have come to the edge of all the light you have
And step into the darkness of the unknown
Believe that one of the two will happen to you
Either you'll find something solid to stand on
Or you'll be taught how to fly!”

Thank you for the lovely comments on my previous post. My Mom was thrilled by all the sweet birthday wishes.

In the path of any learning there is always a turning point that marks the difference between ignorance and knowledge. It´s not new, however, I find interesting (and surprising and amazingly inspirational) how shocking yet captivating the consequences of learning to live can be.

Whenever I come to Amritsar I always try to spend as much time as possible at the Golden Temple.
Of course the Harmandir Sahib is a cornucopia for any photographer but this is not the only reason, there is something indescribable about this place which attracts like a magnet, which brings an inner peace and an amazing feeling of happiness.
You don’t have to be a Sikh in order to let yourself drift into this spiritual path.
You just have to be honest and sincere with who you are in order to let what you are find serenity and happiness.
This young Punjabi took a bath in the holy tank of the gurdwara, about an hour earlier I already took some other pictures of him when he was with some of his friends.
There was so much of happiness on is face and everywhere around us.
Happiness is an important word in Sikhism, the Guru Granth Sahib (the Sikh holy book) continually warns man not to leave the world behind to find happiness.
A man will not find happiness away from the world in which he lives.
I whish this child to find the right way to happiness in his life.

Strictly, this photo is not mine; It was actually taken by my 7-year-old son David, who is learning to catch the light with a camera. And I think that he does this good enough ...

Repost : originally posted on the 28th of march 2007 ... ;-)
This was originally called, "Let There Be Light", but that was before I turned this into a really wild and wacky art piece- or at least, even MORE wild and wacky than it already was! (The original is below in comments.)
This shot was taken with my very first digital camera, back in 2006. At that time, I was just learning what you could do with post processing, and the weird effects were really exciting me! I used a Kodak editing program that came with the camera, and editing the image over and over, I amped up the color, but really increased the noise 1000%! Now, I'm finding that with some of the tools I have at my disposal ten years later, I can turn that noise into swirls of color, and add more interest with patterns and designs. Yes, it's weird, and I enjoy it!
Everyone wants to be a good photographer, and the truth is, there are thousands of them on here. For me, photography has become the canvas that I use to create something else, and the resulting art form has been fascinating to me. Yes, I can take a good shot now and then, but so can all of you! I get a lot more enjoyment out of seeing what I can do with a photo- especially a not so good photo- to make it become art. It will never be enough for me to click a button and be done with it! Natural can bore the socks off me, too, so this is how I play when I'm tired of "normal"! Hope you like it.
It's probably going to be about a month before I'll be doing too much interaction on here. The Memorial Day sale will be starting soon, and I will be busy, but I'll pop in as I'm able. Mostly, I'll be doing a piece here and there as I have time, and working. As always, I will catch up as I can!
