I should've done a better job of obscuring the power LED. The LCD backlight turns off automatically.

This is the spectrum from my LCD. There are four spectrums here -- the first shows "white", the next is blue, then green, then red. There seems to be some red and blue showing up in green, and green shows up in blue (but not red). I don't know if this is due to light leakage into the "off" pixels on the LCD or if it was designed to work like this and they're just using off colors to balance the colors correctly.

I'm a bit color blind and I've always found it easier to tell color on my CRT monitor, and I never really knew why. I'm guessing it's due to the narrow bands on the LCD. I have the same problem with flourescent lights -- certain colors will look weird. Flagstaff is near Fort Lowell observatory so the streetlights are some sort of special low light pollution lights. Everybody else could see normally but to me, my red car looked purple. I'm guessing it had some weird spectrum going on too.

How to make a Lego LCD projector out of Lego

First part of this DIY project ...

Upgrade one 70's JVC Videosphere B/W TV with a 8" Color LCD TFT screen TV ...

My new 8" Tft TV just arrived yesterday (thanks Ebay ...)

it is already spent on the fitting table yesterday, the first dismantling to take measurements of the slab of the screen and see the position of internal components

The tuner from this videosphere was faulty and we get more than a screen full of snow ...

"The snow during the winter is nice ..." but not necessarily in a TV screen

I tried a VHF-UHF adapter to connect the cable, no more results ...

So ... I kept this VIDEOSPHERE as a decorative object (a big snow ball or a snow light !)

or I gave him a new life with new components ! :

one color LCD Screen with analogic (cable) and digital (aerial digital) tuner ...

(and full connectivity to other digital media, dvd, media player, pc ...)

and may be also incorporate inside a rechargeable battery?

to hand him a "truly portable" that she had not even then!

Almost everything is possible, it should just "throw" all in the ball "as cleanly as possible"

" See you very soon for further adventures ... "

A Navman Jupiter 12 GPS module (part no. TU35-D410-041) salvaged from a Phantom Tracker connected to an Arduino Duemilanove and a HD44780 compatible 4x20 LCD display that I had lying around. More details here.

GPS time is very accurate so I might get some of those huge seven segment LEDs to make a GPS clock.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a working display! The Pertelian LCD is now showing various stats for 'ayeka' (my modified Linksys NSLU2 NAS device, which is now our home network server) - both parts of the lcdproc software which drives the display (the client and the server), are now fully operational.

I've still got to fine-tune it all - for one thing, I would also like to reduce lcdproc's CPU usage, as it seems quite high (between 10-20%), but then the NSLU2 is not exactly a Cray, so there may not be much I can do about this.

Anyway, at least it's working...

Somehow or other, our 19" LCD HDTV was finally able to display the custom-colored captions for the first time.

The ability to change the appearance of closed captions is typically done on the TV itself. However, for HD channels which are best viewed through digital connections (Component, HDMI, etc) most digital set-top boxes/cable boxes have their own captioning system. Thus if you try to turn TV captions on viewing HD connections, the TV does nothing. So everytime I wanted to watch TV with captions, I had to switch to the lower-quality antenna/cable connection...

That is, until I realized today that cable-boxes have their own captioning system, so I turned our cable-box's captions on, while viewing the Component HD channel, and it works great. The cable-box captions don't work if viewed via the lower-quality (analog) connections (Antenna, cable, AV1 Composite, or S-Video).

Confusing, yeah?

These little lights were purchased at Walmart and will add quite a bit if light to my heater adjustments. It wasn't that hard to install. I just had to find a fuse that was only hot while the car is on... As an update: the little lights were so bright that I was getting blinded. Anyway, I took a black permanent market and made a couple swipes over each bulb and now it has the perfect illumination!
