LCD screens meant to be immune against the burn-in effect. Well, one of my screens shows the effect. You can barly see it in this crappy cellularcamshot, its the white line above the window. When you leave it on without changing the content of the desktop for a while, it will result with these ghostmarks on edges with high contrast. I moved away the window a bit so you can see it. Fortunally it goes away when you switch it off for a while.
Its my oldest LCD display which I have for 3 years, or is it a plasma in disguise? I smell a comeback of the screensavers :)
Well Daft Punk is playing at my house, my house
I'll show you the ropes kid, show you the ropes
I got a bus and a trailer at my house, my house
I'll show you the ropes kid, show you the ropes
I bought 15 cases for my house, my house
All the furniture is in the garage
Well, Daft Punk is playing at my house, my house
You've got to set them up kid, set them up
You've got to set 'em up ooh ooh yeah
You've got to set 'em up ooh ooh yeah
You've got to set them up, set them up...

The rat's nest of wires needed to hook up the display. We only hook up the "enable", and "instruction/data" (RS) control pins and four data pins.
Our GEM Apprentices were recently tasked by a external company to design a new brand for their company. The company, LCD King is a business based in Barnsley who specializes in refurbishing and repairing mobile phone screens of Apple and Samsung phones. The company wanted a new visual identity to make their business stand out among the many competitors.
Above is one of the concepts produced by one of our designers.

Cold cathode high voltage circuit failed.
Replaced back light with 54 5050 led strips.
Led strip being powered by a 12v wall wart.
Lcd driver powered by a 5v regulated PSU.
I just figured out how to power this with only 12v source.
Need to prototype a led driver to have the on and off function and brightness back.
