I have been wanting to set up a layout at home for a while now since it has been a few years since I have had one. I was never ever to really finish any of the other ones for one reason or another so I am hoping this one will be different! (There are pictures of some of my past attempts in my stream).
I am getting very close to starting to build this layout. My biggest hurdle right now is getting my basement cleaned up so that I have room for it. I have slowing been acquiring ideas and the parts that I need to pull this off. The good thing is that I have almost all of the track that I need already.
So after many iterations, this is the layout that am planning to build. I had a few different criteria that I was trying to meet and it was very difficult to fit everything in and make the size reasonable. The layout is 9' x 17'. The section that contains the yard is 4'x8'.
1) Yard for switching
I absolutely wanted a yard that I could do some switching in. I took the design from the "Ten Commandants of Yard Design" article that I found on the web (then later found that it had been posted on Railbricks.com). I tried to incorporate everything that I could and I mostly succeeded. I have a few tweaks that need made but I am mostly happy with the results.
2) Run multiple trains
I wanted to be able to run multiple trains at the same time. I have two continuous loops but I would prefer more, However, I have no idea where to put more.
3) City Area
Room for a small city scene
4) Industries
A couple of siding for industries that can be used for switching
5) Room for scenery
6) Try not to have to buy more track.
The only thing that I am missing right now are the ME R104 curves. I already have the R72 curves and I just bought 4 pairs of PF switches. Everything else I have in 9V. I can probably do without the R104's if I need to, I just thought they added some interest to the layout.
7) Roundhouse and Turntable
This obviously is not there yet. I don't know if I have room for it. I have a draft of the layout that includes one, but it requires another 4x8 sheet of plywood.
8) Remote Points
I really want to be able to stand in one place and be able to control my trains AND the switches. I have been researching what people have done to do this and I think that I found a solution that works for me. I will post pictures soon.

The Votive Temple on Kozala or the Church of St Romuald and All Saints was erected in 1934 during Italian government in Rijeka, according to the project by Bruno Angheben.
The church was raised over a crypt which holds the bones of Gabrielle D’Annunzio’s 458 legionaries, who died in 1924 on the Bloody Christmas in Rijeka, but also in Italy. The tomb was dedicated as a war cemetery and was opened on 16 March 1930 on the anniversary of the arrival of the Italian king Vittorio Emanuele III to Rijeka. A Memorial Park, Parco della Rimembranza, was arranged around the church and the tomb.
The construction of the church was stimulated by D’Annunzio’s speech during the burial of his legionaries who died in Rijeka, and was financed for political reasons. The title of the church (St Romuald) is a sign of honour to D’Annunzio, as this was the name of his father. The construction was supported politically and financially by the Italian government headed by Benito Mussolini, with the most prominent supporter being Senatore Borletti, who also supported the construction with his personal finances.
The first project, published in the papers immediately before the construction, was made in neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic style, with emphasis on traditional material, brick and stone. The project changed significantly until the beginning of construction. Angheben cleared the lines and the façade, thus gaining severity and monumentality of the construction. The church was dedicated to St Romuald and All Saints on the tenth anniversary of annexation in September 1934, alluding to D’Annunzio’s Holy Entrance into the city.
The church is entered from a wide plateau accessed from a double staircase. The church is a hall church with rectangular layout. It is covered with white Istrian stone, which due to minimalistic decoration gives a feeling of monumentality. The author repeats the spiked form on the portal, the bell tower and the windows. Together with the pointy cypresses around it, the church seems as if it were aspiring for the sky. Along the portal, at the entrance, there are statues of two angels made by the famous artist Romolo Venucci from Rijeka.
The interior, just like the exterior, is simple. It is dominated by triangular and rectangular shapes, harmonized with the polychrome marble in black, brown and grey. The interior of the church is adorned by Angheben’s wall incrustation of the Way of the Cross in 14 stations, the statue of St Romuald by the artist Ladislaoa de Gaussa and the crucifix by Edmond Treverse.
The city cemetery Kozala is the oldest and the most beautiful city cemetery. The city administration of the former Rijeka used to buy land for it from the middle of the 18th century, while the burials officially started on 1 December 1838. Since 1872 until today, the burial register in the Burial Records has constantly been kept, so sometimes this date is taken as the official beginning of the cemetery. The cemetery Kozala is a treasury of art achievements of sculptors such as Ivan Rendić, Giovanni Mayer, Urbano Bottasso, Domenico Rizzo, Donato Barcaglija and architects Emilio Ambrosini, Francesco Placsek, Ignazio Rossi, Ugo Pagano, Giacomo Mattich, Raffaelle Cullotti.
Next to the Crypt, there was originally the Museum of Annexation, which no longer exists. It is interesting that the 63-metre high bell tower has an elevator installed.
Valorization:
The entire cemetery Kozala is protected as a cultural-historical whole in the Republic of Croatia Register of Cultural Goods.

Arhitektura Rijeke i Sušaka između dva rata (5): Crkva na Kozali - Novi List Objavljeno: 20. ožujak 2015.
Gradnju ove monumentalne crkve novčano podupiru, osim države, senator Senatore Borletti osobno, industrijalac i sportski aktivist, izražavajući želju da crkva bude posvećena sv. Romualdu, imenu D'Annunzijevog oca, te riječka općina i dobročinitelji
U Rijeci je 1923. godine do tada jedina župa Assumpta-Duomo (danas župa Marijina uznesenja), razgraničena na četiri nove. Stara i nove župe počele su obnavljati i graditi crkve.
Osnivanje župe Svih svetih na Kozali zahtijevalo je gradnju crkve/zavjetnog hrama (rimski naziv), a ideju inicira Gradski odbor na čelu s monsignorom Isidorom Sainom, prvim biskupom Kvarnerske provincije. Biskup i crkveni krugovi drže da crkva treba biti istovremeno spomenik i oltar domovine i vjere, budući da se gradila iznad kripte u kojoj se pohranjuju kosti D’Annunzijevih legionara i poginulih vojnika u borbama u regiji u Prvom svjetskom ratu.
Prve nacrte crkve izradio je Bruno Angheben 1926., kombinirajući stilove neoromanike i neogotike, što je tada naišlo na odobravanje javnosti. U dnevnom tisku objavljen je opširan članak o ovom projektu inspiriranom bazilikom sv. Franje Asiškog, osobito zbog prilagodbe volumena terenu i vanjskog izgleda crkve. Talijanska uprava u Rijeci njezinom je gradnjom htjela pokazati stoljetnu nacionalnu sakralnu tradiciju, inspirirajući se slavnim naslijeđem.
No crkva je takvim izgledom pobuđivala dojam tromosti, usprkos zvoniku i vlastitoj visini, čemu je doprinosila oplata u opeci i kamenu. Dok su se prikupljala sredstva za početak gradnje, Angheben je, varirajući prvobitnu zamisao, došao do pročišćenijih formi, a taj je projekt prikazan na izložbi Revolucije 1927. u Rimu, koji vlada prihvaća i odlučuje inicijalno financirati.
Pročišćene forme
Realizacija je započela izgradnjom kripte 1928., dovršene za dvije godine, koja je postavljena poprečno ispod ulaznog dijela crkve čiji su pak temelji postavljeni 1930. Gradnju novčano, osim države, podupiru senator Senatore Borletti osobno, industrijalac i poznati sportski aktivist, izražavajući želju da crkva bude posvećena sv. Romualdu, imenu D'Annunzijevog oca, te riječka općina i dobročinitelji.
Crkva, koja je kompromisno na temelju odluke monsinjora Vescova posvećena sv. Romualdu i svim svetima (zaštitnicima župe), okružuje se širokom terasom/platoom, do čijeg se ulaza uspinje dvokrakim stubištem. Na ulaznoj fronti, obloženoj bijelim istarskim kamenom, polje s uvučenim portalom i šiljastim prozorom nad njime ponavlja vertikalno gibanje zvonika u pozadini. Uz portal su visoko ispred zida postavljene plastike dvaju anđela, rad Romola Venuccija. Ostala su pročelja izvedena u kombinaciji smećkastih zidnih polja s uskim zašiljenim prozorima.
Unutrašnjost hrama je visok jednobrodni prostor s ravnim stropom, gdje je korisnicima bila najupečatljivija harmonija boja i svjetla, osobito sjaj polikromnog mramora na koji se logično nadovezuju Anghebenove zidne inkrustracije s prikazom 14 postaja Križnog puta, svaka posebnog tona, usklađenima s cjelokupnim tonalitetom interijera (crna, siva, smeđa). Dominiraju jednostavne forme, a osnovni motivi koji se ponavljaju u svim detaljima i cjelini su istokračni ušiljeni trokut i pravokutnik. Na sjevernom zidu iza oltara te iznad bifore na zlatnoj podlozi izranja lik svetog Romualda – titulara crkve, što je bila donacija Ratnih tijela, a smatrao se umjetničkim radom duboke i osjećajne spiritualnosti autora Ladislaa de Gaussa.
Posjetitelji koji su u rujnu 1934. imali priliku uspinjati se uz današnju Baštijanovu ulicu mogli su, osim dovršene crkve, uočiti i vitki armiranobetonski zvonik obložen umjetnim kamenom, visok 63 metra. Zvonik, dva puta viši od palače Adria, izrasta iz baptisterija na zapadnom boku crkve, čiju elegantnu vertikalu od 24 metra oblikuju četiri ugaona stuba od umjetnog kamena.
Svjetlosni efekti
Veliki prozori s prizmama na crkvi i zvoniku stvaraju posebne svjetlosne efekte, što je bila apsolutna inovacija. Za vedra dana, kada se zvonik promatrao odozdo, izgledao je kao da je sazdan od četiri pilona jer su ostakljenja u kojima se ogledalo nebo stvarala optičku iluziju. Požuruje se i instalacija lifta u zvoniku, kojim se trebalo omogućiti udobno uspinjanje do prostora sa zvonom.
Prilikom inauguracije crkve zvonik je bio iluminiran s dva jaka reflektora pa je bio vidljiv i s veće udaljenosti. Svi koji su se tom prilikom uputili prema zavjetnom hramu, bili su ugodno iznenađeni i dovršenjem spomen-parka (danas Volčićev trg), što je bilo važno i za impostaciju regionalnog okupljališta koje je u svojoj unutrašnjosti objedinjavalo mnošto sadržaja. Sve se odvijalo preko direktive režima koji je nastojao provoditi »discipliniran, zdrav i vitalan« ritam života stanovništva u četvrtima udaljenima od gradskoga središta. Valjalo je bez prevelikoga trošenja vremena i novaca omogućiti zadovoljenje njihovih dnevnih potreba i navika, osigurati im ono najnužnije: tržnicu, poštu, okupljalište i – crkvu.

The switching layout is now pretty much finished. All areas are polished off and it’s a blast to operate. I’ve been quite happy with all the subtle details I’ve been able to model with this layout. It’s very fun to operate and I think really compliments whatever is running at the time!

a. I chose to use some photos of my daughter that I absolutly loved!
b. My journaling was simply inspired by the fact that these photos were taken on a regular kind of day, spent hanging out with my daughter.
c. While I was editing/printing out my photos, I was inspired by this landscape shape for my focal point photo.....I actually printed out all of them in landscape and loved this one with her knees in the photo. I printed the rest again in 2" sizes.
d. I immediatly placed my photos in the placement that you see in the finished layout. I loved the 2" photos in the square shape next to the larger photo.
e. I had this large bracket sitting on my desk that I had cut while playing around with my Cricut & I grabbed it and placed it on the layout...I loved the way it mirrored the size of the focal point photo and then I simply picked the dotted paper to fit into that space between them. I'm really into this color combo lately of the greenish/blue & chocolate brown...and all the papers & embellies from the MM Noteworthy line, so I immediatly grabbed for this dotted MM paper to use with it's chocolate dots. I actually am a huge "scrap" user, and like to use the same things on layouts, so it's fun to keep it going on layout after layout.
f. The second printed paper I grabbed for is the piece that I rubber stamped the long legged bird onto. It's a scrap that has the same feeling and colors as what I already had picked out & I loved the idea of printing the bird on it and just having that tiny extra piece of printed paper. I also used it behind the grouping of small photos and scalloped the edge.
g. At this point, I was finished with the base of everything and adhered everything down.
h. Lastly I added the title, heart, coaster & journaling block & the flourish rub-on at the bottom. Then I thought it needed one more thing under the focal photo & I added this scrap of school lines (can't remember what paper line it was from) and I rubber stamped her name onto it with my absolute fav. Stampin Up alpha set...which I "think" is called notebook.

WEEK 2 – Aéropostale Closure, Southaven, MS (Déjà Vu)
The Tanger store had several layout changes from the Southaven Towne Center store. Fitting rooms were in the back at both locations, but that's about the only similarity. Here at Tanger, the registers were also in the back of the store, as opposed to the middle of the right-side wall as in STC. Men's and women's clothing also swapped sides, with the Tanger layout having men's on the left-side wall (which we just saw a little bit of in the previous image) and women's on the right (which we're seeing above).

Olá pessoal, tudo bem com vocês? Então, dei uma parada em meus trabalhos e por isso não atualizei mais o meu Flickr, mas, hoje eu finalizei um novo trabalho que eu havia deixado de lado há alguns dias atrás (a artista escolhida para o design seria a Lady Gaga, porém, optei pelas novas fotos da Madonna junto com a Katy Perry para a V Magazine), o resultado final foi esse ai, eu gostei bastante, principalmente das cores. Espero que tenha gostado ;)

This is the Adventure rocks / Steampunk Expedition side of my part of the LW2014 steampunk layout. Mind you, it's still Work In Progress. There's a lot to be done on the beach, the plants, and of course inhabitants and the Expedition itself with its vehicles.
Before we go any further into the store, let's take a look at its layout. (This time, I was able to find a floor plan from SDCI, which is good because my pictures were not helping me figure out its relatively-complicated layout :) )
This store basically has the traditional "grand aisle" layout that I always find odd. I think it's more of a typical layout for Kroger, however. Features to note include the detached liquor store (formerly a state liquor store before those went away), pharmacy walk-up window, and kids play area by customer service. (The latter is common in Fred Meyers, but this is the only one I've come across so far in a QFC.) Also, I'm pretty sure the space between the liquor store and the main store (labeled "grocery storage" is the new ClickList area.

This is Davidium, my LEGO city layout. As a fan of the classic Town four-wide cars the city is designed for that scale. It is an official modular set free zone, as I am not a huge fan of them in city layouts. I have tried to recreate inner city urban scenes similar to parts of my hometown, Dublin. The city is slowly evolving and expanding and I'll add more photos as it changes over time. If you have questions, comments, critiques and ideas all are welcome!

Our layout consisted of 3 modules, Tamàs, Ties and my yard. We also had some static display tables. All in all a fun layout at a fun event.

Estive mto ocupada recentemente terminando umas encomendas de codificações que particularmente deram trabalho pra caramba .. psé :/
Sobre esse lay , achei ele mto do bonitinho e talvez seja um dos meus melhores! Nem demorei mto pra fazer,mas tava sem criatividade para preencher os espaços vazios kkk - Inspiração do título ao gui ribeiro :)
