I've been fragile for a long time

A big old hole inside my heart

And I was searching through the valley

Stumbled on love in the dark

Ryan built this display case for one of the new Tony Hawk skate shops circa 2000-2001. This was one of 6 or so that he made. I believe this exact one ended up in Salt Lake City... Each was based in a mannequin head and then custom built up and hand-painted. He did all of the details by hand, including the painting of their eyebrows and lips (and the false eyelashes). This particular model has lettering on her teeth too.

We saw one of the others at the Grove in Hollywood, CA last year, although the store is now a Roxy shop and no longer a Tony Hawk store. It's still there (as far as I know): www.flickr.com/photos/giddygirlie/2237142657/

Taken for Exploring Macro Photography's "L" challenge.

Exactly what influence the mini-me's activities have over the well-being of the Land of he Couch residents as a whole is a matter of debate. Ottmar assures us they have none, that only he is in charge of that aspect, but the fact of the matter is we often see the mini-me's performing what appear to be odd rituals.

Of course, we usually just write this behavior off to boredom. Hey, who hasn't been mesmerized by a lava lamp, right?

Picture of the lamp in the dark. Seeing as my camera has autocorrect on for the light, this was incredibly hard to do, and the light is coming from my pink fluffy thing in order to stop the camera breaking my picture! Apologies for the ickiness of the plugs, I haven't gotten round to cleaning the rest up yet.

Thursday morning. Alex's science experiment created a lava lamp inspired object, involving water, vegetable oil, food colouring and a selza tablet. Not much of a self portrait, but I am in it! And a proud father... March 2007
