We launched our 10th Birthday celebrations with a carnival style party for staff on the Bellville Campus lawn
The main reason I headed to the harbour was to see the Lowestoft Lifeboat launch on one of it's practice runs.
I was tipped off a few weeks back when the practice run is, but last Sunday was the first time I had managed to see it in action.

Not the first photo someones taken of the jetties at Keswick Launch in the Lake District, and certainly wont be the last, but we happened to be in Keswick around sunset, so seemed rude not to :-)
More than 800 students from across the U.S. and Puerto Rico launched nearly 50 high-powered, amateur rockets April 15, near NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, during the Agency's annual rocket competition.
For the past nine months prior, teams of middle school, high school, college, and university students were tasked to design, build, and launch a rocket and scientific payload to an altitude between 4,000 and 6,000 feet, while making a successful landing and executing a scientific or engineering payload mission.
Student Launch is one of NASA's eight Artemis Student Challenges - a series of activities providing students access to the Artemis program. Through Artemis, NASA will return humans to the Moon for long-term exploration, including landing the first woman and first person of color on the lunar surface, missions that will help pave the way for future missions to Mars.
The 2023 launch event and award ceremony are available to view on NASA's Marshall YouTube and Student Launch Facebook pages.

I saw these four guys launch early one morning. I trailed them with shutter clicking without them blinking an eyelid. I thanked them enthusiastically for the privilege.
The United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket carrying NASA's Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security-Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) spacecraft lifts off on from Space Launch Complex 41 on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. OSIRIS-REx will be the first U.S. mission to sample an asteroid, retrieve at least two ounces of surface material and return it to Earth for study. Bonus shot for week 9 of the 52 Weeks of Lego project.
Space Shuttle Discovery is currently on its final mission, delivering equipment to the International Space Station. I had planned to save this shot for the week of the final shuttle mission ever, but all the remaining missions I could find on NASA's website coincide with weeks of important events in my personal life that I would rather showcase, so here it is this week. I missed the launch by a few days, but the mission is still on, so it's still a current event.
In March 2011, a new autosonde launcher was installed at the ARM North Slope of Alaska (NSA) site in Barrow, officially known as Utqiaġvik, Alaska. Once power is connected and final parts are integrated, the new system will be able to remotely launch up to 24 weather balloons prior to restocking.

On June 25th a new Longo's location will open at the corner of Dundas & Elizabeth (one west of Bay).
I was able to attend the launch of the new location and get a little insight into and from the folks who are the Food Experts at Longo's.
I loved that Tom, the man in charge of the pastries & deli described in evocative detail the subtle differences in (and I'm going to get this wrong) Peruvian & Ecuadorian chocolate.
The list of prepared meals to-go got my mouth watering (and tasting didn't let me down).
Well worth a visit for a quick lunch downtown or for snagging something on your way home for dinner. If you chose right it'll even fit in the CheapEats price range
