The United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket carrying NASA's Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security-Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) spacecraft lifts off on from Space Launch Complex 41 on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. OSIRIS-REx will be the first U.S. mission to sample an asteroid, retrieve at least two ounces of surface material and return it to Earth for study. PT&P’s Sweco Fab division designed and manufactured a pig launcher and receiver with a flag indicator type flanged HI-T Pig Alert pig signaler. They are fabricated from carbon steel with a three coat paint system. The pig launcher has an 8” diameter minor barrel, a 10” diameter major barrel, and is 110” in overall length. The pig receiver has a 10” major barrel, a GD II Closure and is 170” in overall length. They are designed for 430 psig at 100°F and were hydro-tested at 645 psig and held for four hours. Both the pig launcher and the receiver went through a 100% radiography test prior to shipment.

More than 800 students from across the U.S. and Puerto Rico launched nearly 50 high-powered, amateur rockets April 15, near NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, during the Agency's annual rocket competition.
For the past nine months prior, teams of middle school, high school, college, and university students were tasked to design, build, and launch a rocket and scientific payload to an altitude between 4,000 and 6,000 feet, while making a successful landing and executing a scientific or engineering payload mission.
Student Launch is one of NASA's eight Artemis Student Challenges - a series of activities providing students access to the Artemis program. Through Artemis, NASA will return humans to the Moon for long-term exploration, including landing the first woman and first person of color on the lunar surface, missions that will help pave the way for future missions to Mars.

Had the opportunity tonight to photograph the launching of a fireworks show. Got to do this four years ago, loved the results, and have been hoping since to give it another try!
I need a camera where I can just hold the shutter down for minutes at a time and it can keep up with writing the files to card, though! Half the time I pressed the shutter tonight, nothing happened... because the camera was still too busy writing that last shot burst to the card!
