Makers in the Jocelyn H. Lee Innovation Lab were challenged to transform potential energy into kinetic energy. (That's fancy-talk for playing with marbles.) Marble runs were created with track sections 3D printed on the Gigabot, tracks folded from cardstock pre-cut on the laser cutter and a variety of hand-made and found items. And tape - lots and lots of tape.
The creative designs from our second round of "soda bottle spacecraft" were amazing. Participants got to use the laser cutter, Dremel and recycled and 3D-printed parts to make fanciful creations.

Each team had 5m2 of plywood, free use of our lasercutters and 24 hours over the course of two weeks.

Lasercutters are nice but they are essentially 2D. Using OpenSCAD openscad.org/ I'm exploring the world of snapping polymers of printed objects.
