Cold Knap beach lies about a mile west of Barry Island in the Vale of Glamorgan in south Wales. In contrast to the flat sands at Barry Island, Cold Knap is mainly a pebble beach, and is more exposed to the waves and wind. Although I love the atmosphere at Barry Island, Cold Knap is sometimes a little quieter, and there are great views along the Vale of Glamorgan coast.
Famous Ajax football player Johan Cruijff, who died three years ago, was honoured with this quasi-stained glass work by street artist 'Frankey' in a tram shelter at Javaplein stop in Amsterdam. The well-made but unofficial artwork was placed in March and is happily still in situ today

In 1947 journalist Henri Alexis Reinier Knap (1911-1986) created the Amsterdam street character 'Het Lieverdje' (more or less: Goldheart Lad) who went on as a major personage in his stories for a local newpaper. During his first appearance, the mischievous street lad rescued a puppy drowning in a canal. From then on 'het Lieverdje' claims a place in every Amsterdam heart.
I don't exactly know why, but in 1959/60 Hunter Cigarettes of Mignot & de Block in Eindhoven provided money for this now much beloved statue by Carel Kneulman (1915-2008) on Spui.
The last two weeks have seen a slight lifting of the measures put in place by what is called 'intelligent lockdown'. Cafes and restaurants are now open under strict guidelines and the elderly in homes for the aged etc. are again allowed visitors. But mouth/nose masks are mandatory in all public transport as is 1.5m social distancing.
Likely lads like Het Lieverdje once would have had no money for the trams - it was apparently a sport to hang on outside without paying. But someone has seen fit to equip him with a modern red Amsterdam attribute for public transport.

The Knap of Howar on the island of Papa Westray in Orkney, Scotland is a Neolithic farmstead which may be the oldest preserved stone house in northern Europe. It was occupied from 3700 BCE to 2800 BCE, earlier than the similar houses in the settlement at Skara Brae on the Orkney Mainland.
Evidence from the middens shows that the inhabitants were keeping cattle, sheep and pigs, cultivating barley and wheat and gathering shellfish as well as fishing for species which have to be line caught using boats. (Wikipedia, edited; the German Wiki gives more detail)

During the COVID-19 lockdown there are few people on the beach, leaving it to the sheep, lambs, gulls and geese that can be seen in the 6240 × 4160 pixels version of this image.

Focus merged with Zerene Stacker from four images. They were taken hand held and the leaves and small branches were moving in the wind. I found that Photoshop couldn't merge at all well, but Zerene Stacker coped very well, with a little retouching on some leaves.
