For the Whispery White Wednesday group.

This week's theme is white kitchens or white things in the kitchen.

I think these shots cover both!

(Can you tell I like to put stuff on the walls?)

Ambient with flash layer to hold dynamic range. SB800 into ceiling, SB800 on floor bounced for lower cabinets.

I was sitting at my PC right inside the kitchen door, when they just wandered in like they own the place.

It's all good as long as they don't touch the pink curtains!

Don't let the friendly smile fool you. He is a sociopath that will cut you without the slightest compunction.

The actual smile is exactly 2 inches wide.

The bokeh teeth were a happy accident.

The water spots were an unhappy one.

An attractive young woman on the home front prepares a wartime meal. Looks like summertime. Found photo. Interesting how some 1940s hairdos came back in the 1980s.

It's about 8x8. We've made the best of it. I completely believe in living in the smallest space needed but I'd love a bit bigger kitchen.

The solarium (top right) was thrifted.

Having a lingerie party shoot with lovely friend Gillian.

This is my kitchen. I know this isn't an art piece, but I am including it because to me it is truly a work of not, just not on canvas. :)

My husband and I redid the kitchen completely. If you can believe it, it used to be all white! Now it's much more suited for us.

We started the morning on the north side of Lassen Volcanic National Park in Old Station. After a huge bowl of oatmeal at JJ's Cafe, we headed to Subway Cave nearby--a lava tube that is open to the public. Make sure you bring a flashlight and a jacket as its pitch dark and 46 degrees inside! Getting there early ensured that we had the place entirely to ourselves.

From there, we drove around the backside of the park, stopping in Westwood before we headed to the Drakesbad Guest Ranch, from where we were scheduled to go on a horseback ride. Though the original plan was to go to Terminal Geyser (a 3 hour ride), some of the guests arrived late necessitating a change in plans. Instead, we went out to Devil's Kitchen, the park's second largest display of geothermal features and only a 2 hour ride.

After the ride and the short hike down into Devil's Kitchen, we soaked in the hot springs at the Guest Ranch while hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail stocked up on their supplies.

The day ended with a fabulous pizza at Tantardino's Pizzeria in Lake Almanor Peninsula.

My kitchen scales at home.

A straight out of the camera shot of a potato peeler showing its teeth.

This is the "AFTER" of our kitchen. This is a brand new house, and we brought the stove with us and had the kitchen built to fit it. The countertops were perfectly plain white laminate, but they were taking a beating with craft projects and general wear and tear. As much as I don't usually love granite, I can't keep up with marble and tile gets too dirty. So, we found a pretty pale and subtle granite we actually kinda liked and also added subway tile. See the before photos in same set. blogged at hollydoodledesigns.com

New chair! New wall paint! New stuff!

The large kitchen shelves, fashioned from sturdy oak, bear the weight of years of use, evident in the worn, textured surface that tells a story of age and utility. Adorned with charming details, it holds an assortment of kitchen items, neatly arranged. From vintage bottles and jars to unique ceramic dishes, the cupboard exudes a cozy, rustic charm.

Blend of three ambient frames. Used a slightly darker one for the backsplash/counter area below the cabinet on the left (it was very blown) and a brighter one for the cabinetry below (client was concerned about that area being too dark). Client is the cabinetry rep/builder.

Camera could stand to be about a half inch to the right :)

➤ Your image's background must be an interior environment (living room, bedroom, kitchen, etc.).

➤ It must feature a wild animal (not pet or farm animal).

➤ There must be a red object.

➤ And an internal light source (candle, lamp, fireplace, etc.).

➤ NOTHING FROM THE VEGETABLE KINGDOM (no plants, flowers, trees, seeds, leaves, roots, etc.; but wooden furniture is okay).
