When you merge Lego and kitbashing, there is no better place to do that than in Wonderland.
Here comes OG Alice and the Queen of Hearts with a great novelty: Custom faces!
Recently Lego has been doubling down on brick-built character with various degrees of success. One of the most interesting ideas, at least for me, is the 76780 Wednesday Addams Figure released on late 2024. This style, which I call “Lego doll”, featured specialized printed faces, a concept that stuck with me.
Later, I would discover Studworks’ figurines, based on Kotobukiya’s range of figurine kits. I fell in love with his idea of 2x2 custom printed faces.
My initial idea was to replicate his sticker approach, but then an idea sparked in my brain: why not go a step further and give them actual faces from a Kotobukiya’s kit?
So here comes the results of an experiment merging Lego and kitbashing. I hope it does not get too controversial among purists. I also discovered from early tests that the dividing line between cuteness and uncanniness is very thin, and not everybody will like them.
I really enjoyed it, and I do not discard making some more. Faceless characters have always been a big “no” for me, so this opened a full new category of character mocs to explore.
My girlfriend changed her female mercenary figure around a little bit, she looks a little more practical save for the red chucks which are kind of her trade mark, newer headsculpt with some modifications to the hair too
The Golden Badger is an interstellar freight cargo hulk. It's ongoing mission to deliver construction materials through the void of the warp. A typical run can last anywhere from 5 - 15 years. The ship has a compliment of over 500 crew. The pay is exceptionally good for Captains and NCO’s but is largely subsistence for every other paygrade. The work is dull and repetitive. It often attracts emancipated robots and Xenos who are down trodden citizens back under Terran rule. Humans onboard are usually running away from something or someone or just plain stupid...
Left to right
Gerard Furz - ships coiffeur - rigorous personal grooming means he finds human hair a doddle,
Elsie Brannigan - ships navigator. Born blind her replacement optical units have built in sensors which see across all light spectrums and can guage ranges in a nano second.
“Crash” - synthesised human, ships chief engineer - a bit of a smart arse, spends too much time contemplating the theory of everything, often mistaken for being dead such is his deep concentration.
Viv Manderbex - ships captain - A crueler S.O.B you will not meet. Very efficient at “motivating” the troops. Why is he so mean, what drove him to this point?
Zuber Genk - ships security officer. Trigger happy, rash and probably still alive because of the first thing. Piracy is rife and extremely dangerous in the Warp, anyone or thing trying to rob or hitch a lift at warp speed is not something you need to negotiate with.
Chefan Beko - ships cook and self aware portable microwave. Seemingly friendly and kind, annoys the hell out of everyone he meets - this leaves him more and more time alone to get about his dastardly work. Secretly he is always plotting and thinking up new and exciting ways of serving the crew, rat recycled garbage, left overs and wherever possible human parts. Day 28,835 and still no-one has caught hi,/
Photoshopped kitbash of the previous concept. The main body of the ship is the laser cannon from a Y-Wing, the cockpit is a PBY Catalina observation blister and there's bits of Gundam stuff in there as well.
Quick lil test photo with all the kits (and kitbash) I've painted so far. Feels nice to see em all in one place.
Taking my inspiration chiefly from the epic art of Frank Frazetta, Joe Jusko and Neal Adams, I hope to create an arboreal diorama to display this figure with appropriate flora & fauna.
After removing the lower sections from the upper wall pieces all the floors will now match in floor heights.
I keep coming back and adding stuff to this figure, his rifle now has a better weaponlight and a PEQ box, added the MICH helmet hanging off of his vest and the black shirt under the uniform shirt, not sure why on that but I just thought it looked cool,
Vintage 12 inch Mego Robin head on a modern Classic TV Toys body and suit. I made some leggins because the shoes are way too big for the 12 inch bodies and needs something keep them on.
It's so hard trying to get a photo of a paint brush and holding the model and taking a photo. But I managed as best as I could. I decided to paint the sides of the window ledges as they didn't look very good from the side.
I also bought three very expensive paintbrushes yesterday to do small painting jobs like this. :D
Normally my local used LEGO reseller trashes any non-LEGO parts when they come into the store. However, I saw these two large non-LEGO wing parts sitting in their back room and they were just too cool to let them be put into the garbage.
The Osprey is the end result of that salvaging operation. It ended up being a kitbash mash-up between a Star Wars snowspeeder and the Millennium Falcon (and the old school Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider). It was a very challenging build, as the wing parts weren't as LEGO compatible as I first thought (and I also cut off a ball joint that I thought I could use, but was too small to use within a Bionicle scale ball-socket).
EDIT: And if anyone recognizes what these wing parts are from, or which company made them, I would love to know...
THANKS Legoian712!
Being a portrait of Commander 'Jude' Shepard, one of the seven Commander Shepards I played through Bioware's Mass Effect videogame franchise with.
Perhaps one of the easiest kitbash figures ever as it required only a repainted head sculpt to go with the body and armour already provided by ThreeZero's Commander Shepard 1/6 scale figure.
Again photographed using layered filters from Photoshop, Enjoyphoto, Superphoto and default editing apps on my cameraphone.
Finally got this guy a proper body and the correct uniform to match the others, thought I'd post one more of him all done
The continuing exploits of 'The Vampyre Valesca': an original steampunk character of my own devising and a 1/6 scale custom kitbash figure conceived and assembled by myself.
Manipulated photography employing layered filters from Enjoyphoto, Photoshop, Superphoto and the default editing apps on my cameraphone.
Turns out my Starr doll head fits on the Olsen twin/Liv/Obitsu kitbashed body I have that I had laying around cuz no one’s head looked good on the thin neck. It’s an odd combination but I guess this doll head has grown on me since literally every other doll in the lot has managed to surprise me.
Been wanting to do this ever since the Series 3 Rick came out but never got an extra-ish one till now. Head and hatchet from the B/W Rick/Andrea set and painted to be regular colors. Even added the hatchet holster to his hip.
I finally got back to my model after over a week. I did a first coat of paint on all the wall parts. I'll do two coats then I'll paint the brick ledges a darker colour. I'll hopefully do that tomorrow. :D
Tried to bash Agent Rumlow from Winter soldier, gotta get the STRIKE patches professionally made like the normal SHIELD patches, the sculpt sorta looks like Frank Grillo, if I find a better one I'll switch it out
Quick shot of the new kitbash. It's hard to get the outfit to lie right, but I'm new to this so maybe it's just me. But he's lovely and I adore him and I'm still blown away by how beautiful each piece of this suit is. It's a wonderful quality.
Got tired of lego, and I've wanted an action figure League in the 3.75 inch scale for a long time, so I tried my hand at a League kitbash and I absolutely bloody love the results, even if Nemo is a little short, and Griffin is a little tall.
Nemo: Zizzle Admiral Norrington with Hasbro Thuggee Chief head, hands, and sash. The turban pin is the knot and tie from the Chief's kerchief
Mina: Hasbro Elsa Schneider figure entirely repainted and given custom cloth elements.
Hyde: Marvel Legends Caliban head with the eyebrows sanded down, 6" Toybiz Beast torso/arms, and 3,75" Marvel Universe Hulk legs.
Quatermain: Henry Jones Sr body/legs, RoTS Count Dooku head, Crystal Skull Indiana Jones hands, hat, belt, and bag. All Hasbro.
Griffin: Super7 Invisible Man head, Hasbro Marvel Universe Professor X body/legs etc, custom cloth bandages,
Lots of paint all around. Eventually I may do Doctor Jekyll and a book-accurate Dorian Grey, but we'll see.
Let me know what you think!
Also I'm adding it to the Lego LoEG group cause I'm the boss and I say so. Ha!
I painted the first wall section. I need to finish painting all the window ledges then glue the building together and weather it. Then add the roof sidewalks and details.
A heavily Maschinen Krieger inspired kitbash from various Ma.K, Gundam, and other scifi kits, with a bit of scratchbuilding thrown in (more or less complete list in album description). I envisioned the Cassowary as a scout unit deployed by the Independent Mercenary Army to patrol wide areas of the Australian bush. The "cannon" the Cassowary's packing was indirectly inspired by a video from Polygon analyzing why the mechs in Anthem (Bioware's failed Destiny/Warframe clone) were so boring. The video posited that one way to make memorable mecha was to make them "uncomfortably sexual" (think EVAs from Evangelion, or Metal Gear REX, which also sports a crotch mounted laser). If a robot bird with a crotch mounted laser cannon that's longer than its body and thicker than its legs isn't "uncomfortably sexual", I don't know what is.
An original steampunk samurai character & 1/6 scale kitbash figure, conceived and assembled by myself, photographed using layered filters from Photoshop, Superphoto, Enjoyphoto & editing apps installed on my cameraphone.
A futuristic reinterpretation of Lara Croft as a space adventurer and xeno-archaeologist. Again a 1/6 scale kitbash figure, conceived and assembled by myself, photographed using layered filters from Photoshop, Enjoyphoto, Superphoto and default editing apps on my cameraphone.
Just a kitbash I put together, dont own an Indiana Jones/ Harrison Ford headsculpt so I wanted the face to be out of it.
I hope I got that translation right: "Armored slug with antenna trailer". Taking the Mak Nutcracker and blending it with a Nudibranch.

I kitbashed the Power Girl figure using the Jiaou doll instead of using the Tbleague body since the Jiaou seems much more curvey than the Tbleague bodies , especially the lower half of the bodies and she filled her suit a whole lot better .
got a proper vest (not a spray painted tan one..) and the under armor style combat shirt for Chris here, he's pretty close to how he looks in Resident Evil 6 now, I also repainted his hair since in game it's more of a dark brown not black, also put him on a sideshow muscle body, which I hate because it really limits the pose ability, rifle aiming poses look kinda wonky now
